YOUR SUCH A NATURALLY GREAT INSTRUCTOR....I've been in 5000 PLUS technical classes (at lease ) over my LONG lifetime ....you're EASILY in the TOP 3~5% of instructors. And you have a whole long life ahead of you... you are indeed ... a FORTUNATE SON ..... with that awesome SKILL SET of yours. THANKS Much..... (And I still don't know your name I'm sorry to say).
yep I agree...a great teacher...lots of natural ability and experience... you're able to break it down and make it fun and interesting ... I've been playing 'campfire' guitar for 25 years with no major breakthroughs in the last 24...glad I found you.. ready to understand and learn...many thanks
I've been playing guitar for nearly 20 years and couldn't understand how players were playing complicated strumming patterns simply by moving their hand up and down. its all in the invisible strum
Dude!!!! This is precisely what has been holding me back from learning a rhythm type guitar style. I quit bothering to try learning chords because I couldn’t get this down. Seriously, well explained!!!!
Like Justin Sandercoe, you are a very careful teacher who methodically makes things easy for us newbs. What I especially appreciate is that you don't make the tutorial about you. You're just an all-around nice guy to follow. And you make the connections between the lessons and the songs we all want to play... someday. Well done!
Wow! I just got my first guitar this week and I'm 45 years old. Without a doubt, you're the best teacher I've run into. Instant subscribe and I'll definitely be visiting your website for more lessons.
I have joined the monthly plan today and gone through the chords lessons. He explains in simple steps, he breaks down the whole subject in to small parts, He is a very good instructor.
Great video. I've been teaching myself guitar for a little over a year and I learned some great things here. One of the hardest things when trying to learn a song is how they actually stum it. I never grasp the pattern. Such a simple video but explained very well. I subscribed and will be checking out some more videos and hope to get out of this learning slump in in lately. Breakthroughs are what keep us as players/students driven to keep pushing forward. Your videos do just that, keep up the good work!
Dude! at the beginning this vid you say you're almost at 30,000 subscribers. So that was back in 2017. But look at you now! as I view this you're at 547,000 subscribers! Congrats bro! A testament to your excellent teaching!
thanks man the 3rd strumming pattern was great i learnd 1st 2nd 4th already but the 3rd one was good to be added to beginners strumming pattern like mine. thanks man
Picked up the guitar again after ages during the lockdown. Re learning some basics which is a real blessing thanks to your channel. Importantly having tons of fun playing again🤘
Good lesson. Well explained. I see what you mean about getting messed up because I will change my ups and downs around sometimes mid song and it's super hard to keep good rhythm if you are not strumming consistent. It seems simple, so I've totally neglected working on strumming. Technique is crucial. Even heavy metronome use can't fix poor technique!
Your an awesome Instructor As a professional myself I Think It's Awesome how far you go to explain little details and so many things people don't know or think they do.I'm watching and learning like a brand new student.Props PLAYA
Sir I have gone through the small chords EPA lesson. Your method of teaching is very good, I really appreciate it. I have been able to complete this lesson, the teaching method is unique and it is really helping a beginner like me. I don't know about the future lessons, but till now it has been great.
I do that last strumming pattern all the time, but what I notice is that instead of down down up up down, I add an extra up at the end, so it ends up being down, down up up down up. It seems to sound ok. I call it the pop strum
Wow man what a great lesson, I have struggled with Strumming for years.. I had always kept my pic hand anchored to the bridge with more or less of a palm mute and basically just did sweep picking.. when I did try Strumming (camp fire type tunes) I felt like I wasn't in control and I would totally loose the groove... Now I know why after watching this video... Thanks Mike this is going to help me Immensely with playing the Acoustic Guitar
I love how you teach - thank you for all your videos! Could you please tell the signal chain of your tone in this video? I love this tone for rhythm on an electric guitar, but I haven’t been able to achieve it. Can you help please?
Best video on strumming i ever found....n yeah i remember initially while i used to play UP UP together, as you said it was like anti-gravity thing where hand just gets stuck..so true;)
why do i feel like when i look at his face i can see what he looked like as a child(omfg typing this and reading it it sounds 100% more creepy than I thought-)
Great video. I just noticed this video is 5 yrs old. I just started playing. You were pleased with 30k subscribers. Now 724k!!! Add one more to that number. I’m gonna check out your other videos. Cheers!
Im a beginner and I found the last pattern the most natural (not sure if its the right word) but somehow it made a lot of sense in my brain. Anyways I really enjoyed the video. Thanks for the help :)
Had no idea I would sign up for Lessons today. I thank the Gods. Mike your lesson plans spoke to me not at me. I had taken a few in person lessons after practicing on my own for three months. Fired him after the third lesson. Man did not comprehend (after being told more than a few times) that I deal with learning disabilities. Wish I had a fly-paper memory but I do not, so Thank you Mike.
From France, thank you sir! Could someone give me the chords that sound "Irish death metal" (lol) when it gets faster at 8:47 please? I think I recognize G, Cadd9 and I'm not sure about D and the last one.
Your G is, indeed, a modern G chord. It's also more modal and it's used in rock and newer country a lot - in essence a "cowboy" chord. It's one of my favorite chords actually. But the real departure from the old school (or what you called a "folk") G is using the 3rd finger for the G note on string 1, fret 3. Your folk G makes it much easier to go from G to C and back. With the newer G, you have to rotate your hold hand to get to C on time. Pain the ass. I learned the old school way (Mel Bay, where are you?) but of course over time things change. I really don't like the newer G, But I love the "folk" G and the "modern" G. I don't play that newer one unless one of my students does it that way and I try and do something they way he might feel most comfortable.
I like being Soft-Spoken, Quiet, Humble, and Philosophical, and Doing Stuff with Diligence, I do Soft, Irregular, Dramatic Sayings, instead of Continuous Talking
The third strumming diagram was tripping me up so damn bad until you said it's just "DOWN-down-UP-up-DOWN" and I'm like "dude open with that next time!" 😂
I didn't even buy a guitar yet, but these lessons are really helping me get along with learning some helpful things. I love this guy's teaching style, and his delivery really proves to be effective as evident by his dated remark of "almost reaching 30k subs". As of writing this, he's now at 460k, good for him, happy to have found this teacher.
I am having trouble maintaining the strum speed and the rhythm, i start out great but end up loosing it later on its really noticeable in slow songs. I diagnose my problem it seams when i do chord changes that messes me up specially when each chord has one beat or half beat and move on to the next one while keeping the rhythm. Thank you, great videos.
Like your arrow method but can you use guitar notes also??? The song” after midnight “ by Cream uses 16th notes strums and I want to learn it ...yes I’m new to music notes and tabs don’t get you as far in music like music notes does....
