From a person who started my CI journey at the tender age of 38, you can take comfort in the fact that the quality you've added to their lives was immense. My audiologist is my hero. I suspect these folks felt the same about you.
I understand your pain and sadness. I'm self-employed and have dealt with this kind of situation more than I'd like to, it's good to vent just ignore those that are insensitive they don't have a clue. Your a very caring person and helping others hear better is your passion. Thank You for that!
I'm glad you are following your passion, and entering into it fully. Thank you for sharing how that is a struggle sometimes. FWIW, I think it's manly to be okay with owning your pain and crying publicly. When I express my sorrow, I recall the beauty that I treasure.
Gratitude is what helps in dealing with a patient's passing. You can be grateful for knowing your patients as well as you do. They are grateful for your help and friendship that you extend to them. Very few health care professionals are able to say their patients are their friends and mean it. As a senior person and a two-time cancer survivor I've learned that we all have the same amount of time left, we have today!
Your right. I imagine you’re talking to them hearing their stories. Then all of the suddenly he or she passes away. Very sad for you🙁your a good Dr. 👏👏👏👏
Hey Doc I would like to see a video on how people with a hearing loss deal with daily task in the work place. For example, I work for a fast food restaurant and sometime when we are busy I have a hard time hearing what the customer is saying. There are some task I can’t not do because I wear hearing aids. Like working outside when it’s raining or wear a headset to work the drive thru. It would be nice to bring awareness on some of the challenges people with a hearing loss face and how can a person self navigate and be a advocate for themselves.
I would like to see this be discussed too, like how to work in an office with landline phones/headsets and using over the ear hearing aids, which can be difficult, as there's no Bluetooth.

I appreciate your candor and share your feelings. I’m currently considering audiology licensure, I’m recently with a hearing office as an office manager. I have a masters degree in nursing administration in Gerontology, but I’m going to start seeing if I can certified as an audiologist or what that would require. I’ve also worked as a home health and hospice nurse. And I just look at it as an honor to have spent time with elders. And grateful for the time we had together. 💕
Your quickest path to treating hearing loss would be to become a Hearing Instrument Specialist. To become an Audiologist it would require 4 years in graduate school to earn your AuD.

Thank you for sharing. I’m an audiologist too and it always seems like I’m blindsided by the news of the loss of another patient. I can’t really reflect on it or grieve in the moment because a patient is usually waiting. I send a card, pray for their family.... but it always feels like it’s not enough. I appreciate your willingness to share and I love your channel... you keep me on my toes 😄
I totally understand. I have trouble with grief. I feel it, but I have trouble expressing it. I have problems telling people I'm sorry for their loss. ... for some reason.

a brief while ago i was an award winning audio dsp programmer, but for the last seven years i've had an inner ear infection i can't get rid of (i've poured about every essential oil in my ears, H2O2 constantly). i also work with a chainsaw and have subsequently developed resonant infected cavities that sound like a bus is parked next to me constantly. i live in tucson. chainsawing doesn't pay much, free audio development never did pay much either. i've had this ear infection for seven years. i'm writing this again in case an audiologist reads it and understands what i'm going through.
Loss of hearing happens for many people when they are older. So your patient base probably has a lot of older people who may seem vibrant one day and then be gone. My mother had a physical when she was 80 years old. She was supposedly in excellent health per the blood test readout. But a week later, she was gone. She was manually washing dishes. My dad was wiping them next to her. Suddenly, she fell onto him and let out a long sigh. Then she didn't breath again and my dad knew she was gone. He lowered her to the floor and called 911. She had a brain aneurysm that could not be detected. I got a phone call from her minister saying "Your mother went to be with Jesus today". I could not fathom what he said and flippantly responded "You mean she ran away with the gardener?" Ha, ha. (Maybe you have to live in the Southwest to get that. Most gardeners are Mexican and often named Jesu').
Those of us with an open mind and heart feel for you. It would be so difficult to have the dynamics of a close relationship with your being a provider and then losing them. As you said -we never know when we will be called to live with Jesus. I hope and pray you will find comfort in the promises of the cross as your patients/friends pass. If it was feasible to see you as a patient- I would most definitely have you as a provider as you passion, compassion and humanity comes through your video's Doc. Blessings to you.
How do I cure a tinnitus because everyday my ear keeps try their best to say “eee” and I’m about to die from it, If you have any suggestions please let me know! I don’t know what else to do but cry all day about it until I find out how to cure it.
sorry to hear that you are at a loss. always something to worry about. Eh? Hmmm. I dont know how to understand how you feel. Its just like you said. The coming of death is just something to deal with. Like that meeting you just cant miss. Or the train you have to catch. You have your friends and family. Take a few days off to grieve for them. Or if you really love them. Say prayers of the Novena. Just a suggestion. It helped me with the loss of an aquantence. He was a devout catholic and i didnt really know him. But i wanted to do something on his behalf. The Novena prayer is an easy one. you can even make your own petition for that person if you feel. The question i came to ask is this. Im taking my own natural remedy for my tinnitus. the pressure in my ear has gone down today ,albiet the ringing is still present. Are there cases of someone recovering from the high pitch ringing noise. I go jogging. Im NOT always paying attention.
Can you give me advice on my ears? If you can?? Is there something wrong with them if water keeps seeping into them during a shower, despite wearing 2 caps???? How is this normal 😢
