Shout out Sid Luckman's 1943 season. It was against plumbers and firemen, but his numbers were still just absurd. He had 10 Yd/Att, 13% TD percentage, both still standing NFL records. It was only a 10 game season, but if you stretch out his numbers to 16 games he would've thrown for 3590 yards, 46 TDs, and 19 ints. IN THE 1940s. He then dominated Washington in the championship game, throwing for 286 yards, 5 tds, and 0 ints.
I know he’s overshadowed by 2011 Arod, but I think 2011 Brees deserves to be on the list. He was just as dominant as some of the people on this list and maintained it in the postseason by throwing nearly 1000 yards in just 2 games.
Especially since he's counting playoff performance lol at least Brees won a game and then put up huge numbers in that loss to the 49ers...which was far closer than Rodgers' loss to the Giants in the same round. I'm a Packers fan btw
@@akbarshabazz-jenkins7847Rodgers was still better in 2011, with all the insane throws he made and going 15-1 with one of the worst defenses in the league that year. Plus an insane TD-Int ratio and the highest single season passer rating in NFL history.
@@matthewwells2017 I'm not saying Rodgers wasn't better. I'm saying that if this list is using playoff performances like Barry says it is, Brees should at least be on the list somewhere since he balled out in the regular season AND in the playoffs.
@@akbarshabazz-jenkins7847 Oh my bad, I get what you’re saying and I agree. Still sucks about that 2011 divisional though, our defense didn’t give Rodgers much help at all in that game as they let up 37 points (including a hail mary at the end of the first half). Also Jennings dropped a TD that was right in his hands, Kuhn fumbled one drive, we fumbled on a punt return in the first quarter that led to points for the Giants, etc. Looking back at that game again, Rodgers really did play like the MVP he was minus a couple missed throws and a strip sack. Sucks that amazing season ended like that.
Barry is truly inspirational for being willing to sacrifice his time to produce a video of such high caliber, dare I say it’s the definition of an absolute class act. Eagerly waiting to show my wife and her boyfriend’s children this while I show them this to ensure they comprehend what a true man is.
People forget that the 2013 Broncos limped into the Super Bowl with so many injuries to major players. Especially on defense. If the Broncos were healthy, they don’t lose by 35. I’m not saying that they win that game, but I’m saying that it was a major factor in them getting destroyed. It’s unfortunate that people forget how dominant that 2013 team was up until Super Bowl 48.
And to top it off we talk about how Rodgers and mannings def failed them but Shid look at drew defenses they were worse than Rodgers and mannings and he even had a worse WR core no way in hell you ain’t mention Drew 😭
I think a lot of people undersell his seasons because he played indoors and because Payton is a pass-happy madman. But at the same time, Brees was very undersized for the position so I think that cancels it out. But yeah, he's underrated.
@@richmahogany1 yeah but drew didn’t have nearly the WR core Peyton did nor did he have the defense peyton did which says a lot considering Peyton didn’t have the best defense either and yeah he was undersized to which makes it even harder for Brees and look at the seasons he had lmao
@@JayOfficial24 If prime Brees had the defenses that he had after his arm started to go, man would have a handful of rings. Also forget the 5ks and look at how many times he led the league in completion percentage.
*Best post-season: 2012 Joe Flacco (similar numbers to Montana, both 11-0 TD-INT, but did it against the colts, broncos, pats and 49ers). I do think Flacco is a terrible QB, but have to give him props for that season.
@@pointyheadYTidk if I’d put Flacco at #1 but yeah that 2011 post-season is definitely up there. Ridiculous how good he was for that little stretch considering how terrible he’s been outside of it. The Ravens defense was still the main reason they won tho
@@harlemraider3347 Nah, the Ravens only had big names on defense in 2012-13, when they won the SB, their production wasn't anything to write home about. Their defense was ranked outside of the top10 in yards allowed and was barely top10 in scoring. You must be thinking of the previous year, 2011-12 where they were overall 3rd ranked. Also, if we're comparing Flacco's defenses to Montana's. It's not like Montana didn't have top4 defenses basically his entire career on the 49ers. (I believe he had 8 top4 defenses from 1981-90. An unprecedented run imho, even the giants D wasn't that consistent. It often gets overlooked how historically dominant those 9ers defenses were.)
BARRY LORE - PART 1 In the whimsical realm of Sports commentary, where touchdowns and tackles reign supreme, there emerges the legendary figure known as Barry McCockiner, the witty bard who represents integrity in all its forms. It is said that Barry's origins trace back to a gridiron clash between rival teams, where he was born clutching a football in one hand and a microphone in the other, as if destiny itself had ordained him to narrate the absurdities of the league as we have come to know it. While swatting cannabis cigarettes from the mouths of pregnant women, a beam of light began to shine down on him, and a voice - firm, but caring, uttered these words to him: “You are the one who I have chosen to bring balance to this world.” With a newfound sense of purpose, Barry began to hone his craft by juggling flaming footballs and crafting puns sharper than Tom Brady’s Jawline post surgery. While traversing the dangerous streets of Philadelphia, a man in an all black suit approached him. “We’ve watched your career with great interest. Tell me, son, have you ever heard the legend of Factor?” Barry, unsure of how to proceed, turned to his wife’s boyfriend for advice……
@@joecanHe stole the 2021 MVP from Brady that made no sense he had just won it year before and lost to Brady in playoffs that narrative didn’t add up other then usual Brady hate in the media
Barry casually coming up with one of the greatest stats to score QB performance and then shrugging it off just as casually is the most Barry thing ever.
Bro 2011 Drew Brees has to be on here. 5,476 yards. 46 TDs to 14 INTs. A then NFL Record 71.2 % completion percentage. In other words he won the QB triple crown. He also completed 468 passes which at that point was also an NFL record while setting the completion percentage mark. He threw for 300+ yards in 13 of 16 games also an NFL record. And he wasn’t just dinking and dunking. He was 4th in yards per attempt. He was #2 in QB Rating behind only Rodgers. And in my opinion he was the best QB in the 2011 playoffs. Bro put up 460+ yards in both games plus 7 TDs. Yes he did have a few turnovers especially in the SF game but they had a lot of players injured that game so he was forced to throw the ball. Ingram was hurt. Pierre Thomas got hurt. Lance Moore was out. But he did still have Colston, Graham, and Sproles and those three cut up. I might also add that the Saints set the NFL record for most yards gained in a season. Then in the playoffs dropped another 627 yards on Detroit and 472 against the #1 defense of the 49ers with Brees having 462 yards that afternoon. Listen I’ve seen lots of great QB play and this list is valid but I fail to see how his 2011 season isn’t one of the greatest ever. He was just barely worse than Rodgers in my opinion and performed significantly better in the playoffs.
The thing that’s most impressive about Dan Marino’s 1984 season that wasn’t mentioned in this video is that he put up those kinds of numbers during an era where there weren’t all these rules to handcuff the defense. Quarterbacks were still fair game and could get the absolute hell knocked out of them and so could the receivers. If prime Dan Marino could play in the NFL today, he’d likely put up 7,000 yards and 60 touchdown passes in a season.
Barry you uploaded at the perfect time. My boyfriend’s wife told me to stop playing in the tub when it’s not bath time & I was just about to go play in my his cats litter box instead when I see you uploaded this. I am so thankful for a true American hero.
One season that gets overlooked because of the era in which he played is Bert Jones 1976 season. While he only had 3100 yards in 14 games, this led the league as you were able to hit receivers with lead pipes all over the field. I watched several of his games in amazement as a 9 year old. Thus guy was Elway before Elway.
Nailed it! Montana in 1989, and Niners on a whole was the best I’ve ever seen. In the playoffs they beat the Vikings who were the #1 ranked defense that season, and the Broncos were the #1 scoring defense
Especially since he's counting playoff performance lol at least Brees won a game and then put up huge numbers in that loss to the 49ers...which was far closer than Rodgers' loss to the Giants in the same round. I'm a Packers fan btw
So being completely honest Barry. One thing that I don’t like is the I don’t want to say begging but asking for more views on vids(that’s small though but it is there) but damn I must say the amount of work that you put in to make these videos I can tell your on your grind. Just thought I’d give an honest opinion. Keep up the work!!
Great video!!! Honorable Mention. The 1990 MVP Race. The Greatest MVP Race of All Time!!!! Joe Montana- MVP; Randall Cunningham AND Warren Moon- Offensive Player of the Year All Their stats were absolutely amazing that year.
Thank you Barry for the frequent upload lately. I’m going through tough time since my wife’s boyfriend choked in his vomit after marihuana overdose. Ur videos saved me doing it myself.
@BarryOnHere I love how you changed Peyton 2004 and Tom 2007 rankings in the summary, surely only to get a rise out of Brady fans that he got kicked out of top 3
Good for you. Playoff/Super Bowl should weight more. Tougher competition . I don’t care if someone puts 6 tds on a one win team, but Montana putting 5 on the afc champs is a huge deal
It is easier 100% to put up stats now but having Mahomes 2021 at just 10 is insane, most total yards of all time, mvp, sbmvp, clean playoffs, with a mediocre offense, with really only 2-3 other pro bowl caliber guys, 2 of which were lineman, yea idk maybe the adjusted net yards per competition stat didn’t say he had that great of a season but accolades wise it’s probably at least top 3 all time
It's so funny the 2011 Packers were one win away from a perfect regular season and the team they lost to literally fired their head coach the prior week and gave up 81 penalty yards on a single drive to the Mark Sanchez-led Jets that week.
It's also funny cause the Chiefs QB, Kyle Orton, had already lost to the packers earlier that season when he was playing for the Broncos. He got traded mid season and got revenge.
Would be interesting to see how some of the lesser known or forgotten great seasons stack up in terms of added value. 2015 Carson Palmer, prime Dan Fouts, 1998 Randall Cunningham, 2002 Rich Gannon or Brett Favre in his MVP stretch.
So the gist of your stat seems to be the extra yards a QB got against that defense that the average QB wouldnt have gotten, which is a pretty cool number imo
most youtube sponsors suck but I have been using factor for over a year and its pretty good, I thought it was a little pricey but when you compare it to eating out its def cheaper. good job barry not selling out for bad sponsors
Steve Young honestly should be higher. Despite not having the stats of Montana he was unbelievably consistent in the postseason. Nobody talks about how well he fit into that offense being able to throw dimes while using an occasional sneak
Honestly, the only real issue I see with this statistic is that it is pretty much dependent on the entire season being played out. It’s a very interesting and effective way of valuing a quarterback based on passing.
Help me in demanding Barry rerates Marinos arm top 5 in nfl history. Easily top five velocity. And quickest release of all time. Makes up for lack of distance.
Matt Ryan is a Hall of Fame QB. 7th in yards and 9th in Touchdowns all time when he finished. Consistently was top a 10 QB for the overwhelming majority of his career, there's at least 4 years he was top 5, and in his era there are only 4 QBs you can rank ahead of him being Brady, Peyton, Brees and Rodgers. The 14 years he was in Atlanta they had at most 3 non bottom of the league defenses, The offensive line was constantly underwhelming to atrocious(which is why his body was so beatdown at the end of his career) and the run game was basically laughable for half his career. He had Mike Smith's notorious game management cost him one trip to the Super bowl and Kyle Shanahan's notorious ego cost him an actual Super bowl win. If Kyle Shanahan had any common sense in Super bowl 51 people wouldn't even question whether or not Matt Ryan is a Hall of Famer. Possibly the most underrated QB ever.
I honestly believe Steve young was robbed of a better career due to him sitting behind Montana for so long. He was the starter from 1991-1999 Montana left after 92 and there was no question who the starter was. Even with Montana gone a large percentage of fans couldn’t get over young being the starter and he got unwarranted hate. Young was not bad at all fans just hated him because the org chose him over Montana. I think they sat him 2 long/ flipped flopped between him and Montana to much. After the 2nd year they shoulda cut him lose or he should’ve left to be a starter else wear. (He also played a few years in the usgl before going to Tampa bay for 2 years and then signing with the niners after that)
Barry I’m actually going to cry and piss myself if Jimmy G-spot garropolo doesn’t have a starting job this season. My wife gets so excited when she sees him on the T.V.!!!
Starting a video with a 2 minute ad is a great way to get people to leave your video. Stuff it in the middle or something retention time is very important to yt algorithm
No way you compare older players to the guys who play under today’s rules. It’s completely different. Even as far back as Bradys and Mannings younger years!
And this video is from a guy who gives Brees more respect than your average tv analyst yet he still underates him, it seems Brees is destined to be forever underated.
Pausing at the very beginning I comment my opinion for best single season by a QB ... 10. Marino 9. Romo 8. Favre 7. Flacco 6. Warner 5. Newton 4.Brees 3.Brady 2. Mahomes 1. Manning
Better trademark your DAV stat so they have to pay you when they eventually adopt it! I bet Jon Bois wishes he did the same with Scorigami - but I actually think your DAV stat is actually genius
