Two of my favorites are Tuesday written and illustrated by David Wiesner and Bamboozled written and illustrated by David Legge. I love your “picture book” videos. I also appreciate your review vocabulary. You’ve helped me look at these books in such a new way. I used to own hundreds of picture books, but I retired from teaching and kept only a few (hundred). 🥰

Such lovely books, Flotsam looks wonderful, the colours reminds me a bit of Stephen Biesty's works a little. Recently, I've been obsessed with the works of Anne and Janet Grahame Johnstone, especially their works for Greek Mythology! I tried to find a copy, but sadly, they are incredibly rare and have yet to even see a battered copy on ebay! If you happen to find some copies, please shared them in your future video! :)

May I recommend my own favourite, The Mousehole Cat, written by Antonia Barber and illustrated by Nicola Bayley, a moving story as well as great illustrations. Nicola Bayley also illustrated Katje the Windmill Cat by Gretchen Woelfle, which is also nice, and has lots of side-illustrations in the style of Delft blue tiles.

I remember Sendak said in an interview that he was haunted by having seen a photo of Lindbergh’s baby’s corpse in the newspaper when he was a kid. That memory was an inspiration for Outside Over There-he said something along the lines of kids needing an outlet to talk about scary things.

What do you guys feel about Dr.Seuss illustrations I never read any or at least don't remember reading any as a child but now when I look at them they creep me out so much. If it creeps out 20 year old me I can only imagine the horror it would have caused if i had read it when I was a todler. I also found things like dragon ball-z and harry potter scary but as an adult I loved Harry Potter. (I still find dr. seuss' the cat in the hat scary as hell!) I also always had a dread about death as a child. Anyone here who relates to any of this? Your thoughts will be much appreciated!

I saw a tag today on the @bibliosophie channel and I thought “Hey. Shelly might like to do this tag, since she appreciates the artwork of books.” It is the Judging Books By Their Covers Tag. Show your books that have the… 1. Best color combination on the cover 2. Best typography on the cover 3. Best simple cover 4. Best end pages 5. Best map 6. Best naked hardcover (no dust jacket) 7. Best back cover 8. Best chapter headers 9. Best spine 10. Best drawings The tag is and old one that has just recently been revived, so please pardon my assumption that you have not encountered it.
