Great list mate, I like all those songs. You're a lucky bugger hanging with Jani, I never got to see them live living here in Australia. Jani was such an underrated singer and songwriter. His story telling was phenomenal. You spoke about going through a hard time and I Saw Red spoke to you, I had a similar situation with Let it Rain from Dog Eat Dog. I was 18 and broke up with who I thought was the one , 2 weeks prior to the album being released. To cheer myself up I went and bought the album on cassette and was walking through the park while listening to it. Without a word of a lie, I got emotional listening to Let it Rain, then it started to pour with rain. It was like it was a sign that it was time to let go and move on.

My number one would have to be warrant heaven For anyone who is interested there is a older version of Heaven written by Jani before he was in Warrant it’s preferred by his first band Doran Grey the origins of that band can be traced back to the early 80s but to be more exact roughly 1983. If you’re a Jani fan I highly recommend looking in to Doran Grey he was so young and had his hole life ahead of him they did a lot of covers to like stoned in love.

Couldnt agree more that "hair metal" is alot MORE genuine then it gets credit for. IMO it was the last major music scene that grew organically from garages and basements to stadiums. I love bands like Twisted Sister and Crue etc.. .but to hear Dee Snider or Vince Neil talk everyone that wasnt them or as successful as them was just manufactured meaninglessness wannabes and its downright bullshit.

Omg I almost died. No one ever ever has Tesla love song on a list. It is still my all time favorite song ever til this day!!!! I had an ex who would play it on his guitar for me all the time. I will always say it was my all time favorite song. Very close is I saw Red. Jani is my all time favorite singer and songwriters ever. I listen to Hair metal til this day. Also Kix never had the mainstream recognition that they deserve. I am a Maryland girl and I use to sneak into a club called HammerJacks and watch them. Kix has made so many great hits. They are still around here in Maryland and we love them so much here. I found your channel when I was looking up videos about Jani. I absolutely love your videos and your so much on my page with loving Jani and your music taste. Thank you for your service ❤

Cool list man. Never realized how similar the lyrics of Warrant's song 'Heaven' are to the Beach Boys song 'That's not Me', recorded in 1966: "I could try to be big in the eyes of the world, What matters to me is what I could be to just one girl".

Ok your tattoo story is too cool and I can relate. I got Skid Row tattooed on me and when Sebastian saw it he started walking me around like a party favor and asking me to show it. He’d point at it and say that’s f’ing loyalty. Jani responded to you so heartfelt…it’s good to know it means so much to them but we really did it for ourselves.

On the subject of "First Hair Metal Balled", I feel the urge to interject. The model for anything is always going to be found in the "proto" Era, and in the case of "hair metal", which is a term I hate, because we called it Glam Rock at the time, the proto-glam group was post-RJD Rainbow, both the Grahm Bonet and Joe Lynne Turner eras. And this would make 1982's Stone Cold from Straight Between the Eyes the first Glam Metal power ballad. No bullshit.

Seriously, you need to re-listen to Kix's Rock Your Face Off from 2014. That is a PHENOMINAL album. They sound amazing, the songs are still full of swagger, innuendos, good times, just your basic perfect continuation of what they started with their debut album in 1981 through the release of Show Business in 1995. 19 years later, and they released a masterpiece. I beg you, clear your mind, put yourself in a mental state of 1988, and listen to Rock Your Face Off. You will be amazed if you give it a real listen.

Personally I feel Tesla is a hair band coming into it with their first album but then grew out of it turning more hard rock. I’d feel Paradise or What you give is a more “ballad” than Love song.

@HairMetalGuru I tthink you could narrow down the start of the ballad to STYX. They had Babe Lorelie. Imo, those 2 songs started the stadium anthem ballad trend. Now, an interesting thing. You mentioned Nazarath Love Hurts. That was a song originally done by Roy Orbison. Quiet Riot had Thunderbird on their 1st major release Mental Health. Nkw a question for you. Why was the 3rd song side A, almost always the power ballad? I dont have an answer but, its pretty spot on.lol then 2nd to last on side B usually a slower, not so much ballad. Another fun fact Tesla's Little Suzie is cover tune. Originally done by Ph.D.

You need to do a video of songs that almost made for ballads. It should include stuff like Sheriff When Im With You...Junkyard Simple Man..Every Other's Nightmare Love Can Make You Blind. Stuff like that. All groups that should have been bigger but celebrate what they gave us. I realise you already have some vids that do that but, it would cool to mention some of the obscure.
