I think that Ricimer should also be on the list, he was one of the main reasons why the Western Roman Empire fell

I wouldn't call Labenius a traitor at all, Ceasars crossed the Rubicon, which Labenius couldn't stand for

Caesar was technically the greatest traitor if not Aurelian as their revolts brought golden ages to Rome

I don’t blame anyone that rebel against Nero or even Calligula. Except Nero’s own mother. If she had died with Caligula or even prior for her rebellion Nero might have not been become Claudius’ heir much less emperor
@ashleighstratmann7783
@ashleighstratmann7783 8 месяцев назад
Claudius wan’t too bad. He was a breath of fresh air between Calligula’s and Nero’s rein. He just let his niece talked him into marrying her and adopting Nero

Claudius was a gullible old emperor which is why his life was spared when the imperial guard targeted Calligula and his family, but he was still better than his nephew Caligula and step/adopted son Nero

Caesar was technically the greatest traitor if not Aurelian as their revolts brought golden ages to Rome Labienus wasnt a traitor he was simply being loyal to the system Rome has in place prior

A traitor is someone who turns against their country, even by Roman standards, a person couldn’t be charged with Perduellio (High Treason) if he wasn’t a Roman citizen. Jugurtha, Tacfarinas, Spartacus….they were all threats to Rome, but were not Roman traitors. Labienus chose a side that was only labeled traitors after losing the civil war, but would have been called Rome’s saviors if they had defeated Caesar. But his son was a true traitor, leading a Parthian invasion of Roman territory.

Arminius shouldn’t be held in such high regard it’s like praising someone for winning a fight being blindsided with a sucker punch. Rome lost many head to head battles with more losses so I never understood why the ambush by arminius is so praised. FYI Germanic tribes lost well over 100k warriors and people in Rome response.

Sulla wasn't a traitor. His legitimate command was usurped, and he destroyed the usurpers and then put in place laws to keep the powers that be, the Patrician class, in power. He was as republican as they come.
