Dr. Alan Goldhamer is the co-founder of TrueNorth Health Center, a state-of-the-art facility that provides medical and chiropractic services, psychotherapy and counseling, as well as massage and bodywork. He is also director of the Center's groundbreaking residential health education program.
Dr. Goldhamer has supervised the fasts of thousands of patients. Under his guidance, the Center has become one of the premier training facilities for doctors wishing to gain certification in the supervision of therapeutic fasting.
Dr. Goldhamer was the principal investigator in two landmark studies. The first: "Medically Supervised Water-Only Fasting in the Treatment of Hypertension" appeared in the June 2001 issue of the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics. Its publication marked a turning point in the evolution of evidence supporting the benefits of water-only fasting. The second study: "Medically Supervised Water-Only Fasting in the Treatment of Borderline Hypertension," appeared in the October 2002 issue of the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine.
Currently, Dr. Goldhamer is directing a team that is developing a prospective study, incorporating random assignment and long-term follow-up on the cost and clinical outcomes in the treatment of diabetes and high blood pressure with fasting and a health-promoting diet.
After completing his chiropractic education at Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, Oregon, Dr. Goldhamer traveled to Australia, where he became licensed as an osteopathic physician. He is the author of The Health Promoting Cookbook and co-author of The Pleasure Trap: Mastering The Hidden Force That Undermines Health and Happiness.
Dr. Goldhamer is speaking at the NHA Virtual Conference (June 27-30, 2024). Use this link to get your tickets now: events.ringcen...

Excellent video! Thank you! I love this guy cause he doesn't beat about the bush just straight up on emphasizing over and over again that ultimately one has to maintain a WFPB-SOS diet for life to get healthy and remain healthy fasting or no fasting! Amen! If only I had known about True North while I was in the USA for 20 years. That said I'll need to find a place down undah in oz where I'm originally from. For all you Americans, I'm the brown kind of Australian and yes this is possible. Thank you. Somehow this seems to be a difficult concept up North who knows why? But loved it there and thank you.

I would like to hear more about how to get adequate protein on a diet that doesn't include legumes. How does one get enough of all the essential amino acids? I read Proteinoholic, and loved it. However, in my mind the short hand answer to the question 'how to get adequate protein on a vegan diet' is still - combine legumes with some sort of grains on most days.

Have you figured out the root cause (eg pain, waking anxious at 3am etc?). I'm perimenopauseal and taking hormone supplementation. That has helped a good bit, but I have also added L-theanine (to help my body produce meliton better throughout the night) and magnesium glycinate. Night sweats are a big issue for me. It's not just temperature; they correspond with anxiety type chemicals being released in my body. I'm looking into the possibility of antidepressants or gabapentin (spelling?) to help with that (maybe). I realize these are chemicals, but I'm a basket case without sleep (emotional distress, making potentially harmful mistakes, inability to think through and understand how to improve my sleep, etc). If you are past menopause or could be in perimenopause consider reading "The Menopause Brain" by Lisa Mosconi. If not, maybe L-theanine and/or magnesium glycinate could help. Or, figure out if there is another root cause (eg medication side effect, noisy environment, too little physical activity during the day, pain, etc). I have great sympathy for you. For what it's worth, I'll pray ❤

HCM is a serious condition that should be managed by a cardiologist experienced in diagnosis and management. Eating healthy cant hurt but is not a cure and discontinuing medicine without checking with your cardio can be dangerous.

I think you possibly underestimate the power of radically healthy food - and the absence of unhealthy foods. However, I agree that going off medication for serious medical issues, should only be done in consultation with a doctor.

Thank you for sharing this helpful information. In canned food we see that it contains calcium chloride. Is this harmful?

I would like to see long-term labs and health data for the "experts". I happen to prefer a WFPB diet. I am hesitant when the "experts " do NOT Appear particularly healthy. Dr Goldhammer, the McDougals, dr lisle all Appear to be not very healthy. The entire Esselstyn family and dr bernard come across as healthy. Just some examples. A great deal is genetics and personality. However, long-term observation data of the experts would be interesting. At 82, 95 pounds, and drug free so far, I am interested in long-term (50-60 years) studies on WFPB, SOS free results!

You cannot tell how healthy people are, by how they look. However, you may want to check out videos on the lifespan of health influencers. It supports WFPB eating.

@@k.h.6991 that is why I suggested that they agree to a gathering of data. Not research obviously, but ??? I'll see what I can find. And, I would disagree that appearance can be telling. Not definitive. At 82, I have watched friends and family members clearly show signs that their health is in jeopardy. I am primarily interested in health span!

Well Dr. Goldhammer for instance, is in his sixties. He has no wrinkles, but he does have male pattern baldness. I would say: he looks pretty healthy for his age. You thinking he looks unhealthy could be an effect of imperfect lighting and the way his eyes slant.
