I'd add a few more: Blind Guardian - Mirror Mirror / The Bard Song Saint Deamon - Run For Your Life Dragonforce - Through the Fire and Flames / Heartbreak Armageddon
Blind Guardian is not here because 1. they are a class of their own, 2. they don't play f****** Disney metal like the rest of the bands here (except the old Helloween and some Angra).
I know ... many Complains about this ... I love Blind Guardian, especially nighfall ..., I consider them, one of the most granite bands in the Power scene, but I think that their songs do not have the typical characteristics of anthems, especially the symphonic and redundant aspect of the refrains, closer to classic metal ... this is of course my opinion , if I had made a ranking of the most important bands of the Power, surely there would be, but here we are talking about Hymns
Man i forgot how good Rhapsody used to be. Ya know, before they split into like five different bands. Feel like Seven Angels should be higher, but that's probably personal bias, that song was the first power metal song that wasn't Dragon Force I ever liked. Speaking of Dragon Force, I completely understand why they aren't on this list. Big props for putting Angra at Number 1: R.I.P Andre Matos, he was on two songs of this list. He also sang on Seven Angels. He always had such a wonderful voice that managed to stand out even on a song that had the likes of Tobias Sammet, Kai Hansen, and Bob Catley on it.
hold on im new to metal so this is prolly a dumb question but why is dragonforce not on this list? is it something like they have no 'anthems'? i've only heard a few of their songs so im not sure.
Excelent list, congrats. I didn't know the most of this songs, but they are f... great. The both that I could join are How Many Tears from Helloween and Lust for Life from Gamma Ray, but Carry On in First place is perfect. Man, power metal makes you get up, shout loud and fight!
Hammerfall are great, and surely can stay in a list like this, but I have only 10 place ... Malmsteen is one of the best guitarist in the history of metal, but I think that he is in a different category of metal, non power ... but neo classical
Is Blind Guardian Powermetal? I have heard them classified as Speed Metal. I guess that depends on what albums we are talking about. Their early ones were heavier and faster. Love those. Btw, Hammerfall could have a song in this list.
So many songs to put in the list!Like ''beyond the black hole'' by Gamma Ray.A pure tribute to joy!Oh I just remembered this;''Lose your mind with power metal''!A saying back at the '90s.
@@stefanobranzini1 I agree that their albums post House of Atreus are pretty bad, but their run of 5 albums from 1993 until 2000 makes up for it. Noble Savage and Age of Consent are awesome, although have some Glam songs in there.
I enjoyed this video a lot, and I know and love every song, but in MY worthless opinion, Emerald Sword is the king of power metal anthems. Like, if someone asked me what power metal was, I would tell them to listen to Emerald Sword. It’s not my favorite song, it hasn’t been for many years now, but I don’t think there is anything that truly captures everything Power Metal is, even down to the fantasy.
@@stefanobranzini1 haha I understand. But don’t worry, it’s not being nationalist, it’s just recognizing the truth of what a truly epic power metal song they wrote.
Great choices! Some other songs I may add in the list: Blind Guardian - Mirror Mirror Firewind - Head Up High Symphony X - Of Sins and Shadows Evergrey - A Touch Of Blessing Pagan's Mind - Supremacy, Our Kind Do you like any of these?
A top 10 without Blind Guardian cannot be serious... ;-) just kidding, nice selection but I really miss BG... apart from that, my favorite song by Avantasia is "The Tower"
I don’t know if I will get any hate for this, but I do think that the band Twilight Force (namely for “Flight of the Sapphire Dragon”) could be added to this list
Why Hate??? Any suggestions are welcome ... Twilight Force are a great Italian Band and all their discography is particularly suitable for this kind of ranking ... maybe personally I would enter Dawn of the Dragonstar
@@stefanobranzini1 can’t be too careful nowadays, can’t seem to say anything without someone getting pissy about it lol just covering my tracks. Also I thought they were Swedish
Emerald Sword is the best power metal song for me and most of us. But it´s impossible not to recognize that "The Seven Angels" and "Keeper of the Seven Keys" are the two "Bohemian Rhapsodies" of power metal.
@The Free Monk Have you heard Tyr they are not power metal, but kinda folky and I’m not sure what category. But they are from Scandinavia and I like them a lot
These are good too I think: Dark Moor - A New World Blind Guardian - And Then There Was Silence Pathfinder - Beyond the Space, Beyond the Time Lost Horizon - Highlander (The One) Manowar - Blood of the Kings thank you for not including dragonforce
stefano branzini 13 minuti fa I know.... until the end, I remained in doubt between them and Virgin Steel... in the end I preferred Virgin, because I find that the Blind songs, however wonderful, have less of the character of the Hymns
I love Dragonforce, but I consider it just a little too commercial... for shure throught the fire and flames and Valley of the damned can stay in this list...
@@stefanobranzini1 Fair enough. I only started listening to metal in college, them and Avenged Sevenfold got me enamored with the genre and I owe them a lot
They are skilful ,but they are soooo over the top with the speed they are playing. The music is loosing its purpose. They remind me the lost band of Michelangelo Batio
@@stefanobranzini1 tommy is a great singer, it's just that I feel he's stronger in 7th wonder, here he's still under khan's shadow, even years later. Also, unfortunately, kamelot's writing has worsened on tommy's albums, since oliver's gotten a more active role in writing. For those reasons, I always stick to khan's era kamelot, and when I feel like listening to tommy I either go for 7th wonder or ayreon.
Hi man, I totally love Blind Guardians, like all the metal fans, but i think that their music had not the typical characteristics of the Symphonic hymns
I love Nightwish, but I think they don't play POWER METAL, but a sophisticated combination of opera, symphonic and Gothic metal music; I also find that the female voice does not marry with pure Power music.
