It's great to see you posting again! I learned so much from your videos many years ago, when I started my Chinese learning journey. 😊

I have been a big fan and made my students big fans for 12-13 years? or longer. Jared and Ben, both of you make good lessons with high quality. I love your most accurate and clear pronunciations, fun contexts, and engaging presentation. I still use lots of your old stuff with Peggy, Karen, and other hosts, and the Libai, Dufu, Sushi, Chinese music, etc. culture intros from Ben. Thank you for still making them available on youtube. (please never take them down) They are still current and excellently done by any standards. Jared brought in good energy to this channel, glad it's back with another outstanding host. I have started with Jared's new stuff, cheng yu, the colloquial expressions, as well as classic poems, etc. are all awesome. I honestly prefer videos to shorts, I still can't work with the shorts well. BTW, my students are big fans, so they followed Ben's adventures. LOL. Thank you both for your effort and great work to make learning Chinese fun. I also like your videos are SHORT! people can pause if they need time to process. But long videos are mostly time-wasting in my view. Short videos are much harder to make, but it is very user-friendly and convenient to use. Thank you very much for your work!

Long after leaving university and Chinese class, I still enjoy dipping into the language. I like your videos. I might comment on this video, which is very good, that your body motions are very distracting--i know you are emphatic and clear speaking, but your head seems to try to add a dimension to your teaching.

Although "个" is usually considered as a universal measure word, it's still a bit of weird to use 个 in some phrases, for example 一个路, especially in formal contexts.

Thank you for the intelligent insight into the thought process of measure words. If such insight is available for even part of 100, please by all means produce a longer video. I am frustrated by the videos in one regard, however. Text and examples are edited to display much too briefly. I'm getting at best a subliminal impression. It's hard to even pause the video at the right spot.

Wow. I used to watch your Chinese language learning videos many, many years ago. It's been so long since I've seen your content appear in my feed. I've always enjoyed your Chinese language learning videos. Just wanted to let you know about a little typo I noticed on the slide at 6:42 of the video. The pinyin spelling of 珍 is zhēn, not zhūn. Thanks for the video. Edit/update: I just noticed another typo. A very minor one at 8:06. 份 is accidentally transcribed as fēn instead of fèn.

When I lived in Beijing, I would often try to incorporate er hua into my pronunciation, especially when dealing with waiters or taxi drivers; one time I was taking a taxi back from a hospital check up with a student who was assigned as translator and I told the taxi driver the name of the University and which gate using er hua, and the student then repeated it in "clean" Mandarin without the er hua. I then repeated it with the er hua and the taxi driver laughed and gave me a thumbs up. Needless to say I teased the student on the short trip back about the importance of fitting into the region - your comments about er hua brought that back to me. 😂😂

In English we have limited counter words: a cup of water, a flock of geese, a pride of lions... but a car, a bike, a table. But they are everywhere in Chinese. It's a must have else it's an incomplete sentence.

The 小笼包 wasn’t a good illustration because there are potentially 3 different 量词 that could be used - 粒 for each individual dumpling and because 小笼包 are invariably served in bamboo steamers, 一笼汤包,in addition to the 份 example.

Hi, we are not talking about individual Xiao Long Bao though, normally you can't order just one dumpling in a restaurant. Also in practical application, fen is by far the most common measure word I have heard used for Xiao Long Bao or other dishes. We are talking about useful measure words for a beginner, Long is too specific. Ben
