Fun fact: During an interview with the cast of SpongeBob SquarePants, Tom Kenny confirmed that they were instructed to use *substitute* swear words, which would eventually be replaced with the dolphin noise. However, they thought it was annoying, so they all decided to just use *actual* swear words. Apparently, there exists audio of the original uncut swearing at Nickelodeon Studios, but that hasn't been confirmed.
What I wonder is, when the SpongeBob voice actors were swearing, were they cussing with their normal voices or did they actually cuss with their cartoon voices cuz if that's what they did then I find that really funny.
I remember 1 or 2 years ago when the random town episode first aired, I saw the Squidward suicide in one of the weird doors that led to nowhere in the episode. Being interested in lost episodes and creepy pastas and all of that paranormal stuff, I knew it when I saw it and I thought to myself, holy shirt is that suicide squid!? A valuable Easter egg if I say so myself P.S, they replaced it with a baby Squidward taking a dump in his diaper
As a child I saw the red mist Squidward in the episode. It scared me so bad that I avoided SpongeBob like the plague when I watched the episode again though it was the altered version so I was convinced that it was a nightmare. But now watching this video and knowing it’s actually real. I find it a lot cooler than scary but seriously watching that scene dug up some repressed memories
i am still massively afraid of red mist, theres just something about the eyes and the fact it shows up for no reason, the randomland really depicts how fearful it is to have ends randomly met, again and again, in the most unexpected way possible, even if it was just once and then it became a baby, thankfully i didnt see that episode by myself, because i would freak out

I remember when this episode first aired. And once i saw the red mist reference, i immediately recorded it. It is saved on my dvr and i occasionally watch it just for that reference. It's truly amazing of the writers giving that nod of acknowledgement that they seen how popular red mist was.
I mean, Animaniacs got away with waltzing around the censors with ALL the middle fingers! XD Plus, Spongebob was, at one point, meant to be an adult cartoon, so it kinda makes sense that the more risque jokes would become part of the show's culture. :3

I remember seeing the red mist scene on tv while on vacation, at the time I didn’t know about the creepypasta or anything and when I saw the scene on tv I actually got jumpscares since it was just out of nowhere and unexpected coming from SpongeBob, since my dad was near me and wasn’t watching he questioned why I just jumped and I had no words about what just happened

I mean it makes sense why it was removed though. If someone does not know what it means, they might try to look it up and come across it. The creepypasta, although being fictional, can be very disturbing to some people, especially to kids. As a largely watched show, producers don't want viewers to end up watching disturbing content because of a scene in they placed in their show, especially if kids are seeing it. It makes sense why it was removed.
I remember there being a deleted scene from some episode in season 1, it involved squidward dying after choking on a fork, then patrick giving him cpr and inflating his corpse… I think the scene is available to watch on youtube but it’s in polish. Glad they removed that scene

As a huuge and long time Spongebob fan, I'm not sure how I saw this, but as a kid, I got the *original* 'Are you Happy now?' Episode, the one with the rope gag and the one with the oven. And shockingly, the whole episode flew over my head as a kid. And I look back at it now, and holy crap, it was darker than expected.
@@Warzulu77 actually people put themselves to sleep from the coal smoke in ovens. It used to be commonly done on just the old fashioned ovens, but nowadays it’s harder to do so due to them using natural gas instead.
I think the reason why the deleated scene in Clams was removed was probably because Nickelodeon forgot that Mr Krabs' mother was still alive, she had been in some episodes, including Mid-Life Crustacean
A lot of episodes that aired after 9/11 was either post poned or cancelled. It's understandable. Like the episode of Pokemon with giant Tentacruel destroying towers. That was kinda dark

I remember when the red mist scene from "Spongebob in Randomland" aired only within the first day(s) of the episode's release before it was replaced with infant squidward for good. When I first watched the episode, I thought "oh cool, a creepypasta reference". But when I watched the same episode a few days later, I didn't see the red mist scene anywhere within the episode. Because the episode always shown the second version always aired instead of the first, I thought that all the creepypastas I was reading was getting to my head. The dozens of youtube videos though that talk about the reference in the episode, just now confirmed that, what I saw was real.

@@Jamgessy Yeah, maybe Nickelodeon thought it was too scary for kids that are not familiar with "Red Mist", which makes sense because most kids wouldn't react well to the 2006 written 2010 creepypasta about Squidward shooting himself dead in his room. Hell, the episode had that part cut due to its frightening nature.

He declared them both husband and wife. At the end of the flashback when everyone was mad and said ‘This is the worst play ever!’ the person said “This is a play?” So they are (in law) married.

Weirdly, they removed the Just One Bite scene with the Gasoline because of 9/11, yet Band Geeks, which came out 4 days before still has that blimp’s exploding joke to this day.
I remember watching SpongeBob in randomland for the first time being completely confused and sort of scared for the remainder of the episode after the red mist jump scare. It was an amazing addition and thankfully it’s removed because that one scene changed the entire feel of the episode.
Yeah when I first saw Squidward open the door to see Squidward Suicide I was like, "hold on what?" it kinda scared me. It still creeps me out, even if it was deleted.
I acted like I didn’t know what this vid was and I said “dad let’s watch SpongeBob!” And skipped to the red mist. When he said there was mild jump scares I said “why? This is SpongeBob..” and then he smiled and the scene played and I jumped and said “OH MY GOD. WHY WAS THAT THERE?!” and he left the room.
Here’s an interesting tidbit aboutthe “thank gosh it’s Monday song”. In the story board version of it, Squidward refuses to participate in the sing-a-long, and Patrick is suddenly next to him in his bed and tells him “he doesn’t have a choice”. He rolls out some duck tape, and it transitions to a scene where Squidward’s tied up to a pole being marched through the city for the song
Spongebob: Sponge on the Run was probably made entirely made just to honor Steven Hillenberg’s memory, with all of the visual references within the movie.
But i'm pretty sure he didn't want any spin off shows or new movies after sponge out of water. I could be wrong I'm just going off memory, heard about it a while ago so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
In the Spongebob in random land one that “squidward in the mist” caught me off guard when I first watched it, I can’t believe that it has been removed though, as it shows that the squidward creepy pasta could and could not be its own dimension. But when I watched it when it first came out I was pretty shocked after that scene.

There is actually a version of Randomland Red Mist Squidward that didn’t make it to airing. Originally there were storyboards showing the Red Mist Squidward head coming closer and closer to the screen. Unsurprisingly, it was unaired due to the creepiness about something coming closer and closer to you, and just like you said, Strider, the creators backpedaled on the reference to the creepypasta as well! I kinda love these storyboards, and I’m sad these were cut! The creepiness factor of these storyboards were very interesting and I would love to see these actually made. I am also sad that it got cut in favor of a poop joke! Who likes poop jokes!?

Funnily enough, I as a German can say that some of these deleted scenes, the "love for pie" deleted scene, and the "Patrick unhooks sandys bra" scene, were never cut from German episodes. We got to see them uncensored since the beginning
A little bit of additional information to 2 of the episodes mentioned here. -During some Convention a few years, Tom Kenny said that for Sailor Mouth the actors actually swore real curse words because it was too hard to immitate words that sounded similar or something like that; -For the Randomland episode with the Red Mist reference, apparently in original plans Red Mist squidward was supposed to slowly come closer to the screen before Squidward slams the door

I absolutely remember the gas explosion scene when I was a kid and I thought it was really hilarious! I mean, I grew up in the 90's so I knew obviously you can't drop anvils and put TNT down... I don't know. I laughed over it even today, it was a really funny moment. And it's such a Mr. Krabs way to put up a security system? It was amazing

5:30 Fun fact: Said mobile game was called "Sponge On The Run". It was mobile tie-in for the SECOND movie, it was released even before the original title for the 3rd movie, "It's a Wonderful Sponge", was shown. Also, about Sponge On The Run movie, one of the concept arts that were shown were SpongeBob, Patrick and Squidward on an alien station/ship, and there's also one where SpongeBob and Patrick were in a hell-like place.

There's actually something really clever about the red mist reference and it being removed almost immediately, like imagine being a kid who first sees that. Yeah, it spooks them out. Then they tell their friends about it and how it frightened them, but when they go to find it themselves, they end up seeing... well.... what ended up replacing it. Now the kid is left wondering what happened, it's like their experience comes straight out of a creepypasta.
