Every year I teach my Creative Writing students a 10-step process for writing a story. I've seen it work for hundreds of writers. Here I teach it to you.
Creative Writing Corner is all about helping YOU become a better word-slinger and storyteller. CWC host Luke J. Morris is a published author and full-time English and Creative Writing teacher with a Master's degree in Creative Writing, and on this channel he shares what he's learned over 30+ years of writing and study. Enjoy and engage!
If you'd like to support the channel (and judge if the host walks his talk), you can pick up a copy of Luke's short story collection 'Bad Art' here:

Glad you think so! There's no one-size-fits-all process, but this has worked consistently well for me and a lot of my students, so I hope other writers will find it useful.

13:50 😆😂🤣😂. I couldn't finish the first 2 pages! On a serious note, I highly recommend that everyone ignore my method. Get an idea, put it on paper and go straight to drafting. But here's the best part, I put aside and decide to work on it aometime when I have more time. In a very short time I've forgotten the idea I had. So, this method would be very useful for me.

Yeah... I've done that more times than I care to admit. Which is one reason I recommend the process I do now.

What if the protagonist didn't exist?

Please elaborate on this. I know it's not aimed at me, but I'm just curious.

Good question! It's POSSIBLE to write a compelling story without a protagonist - but about as easy as teaching advanced logic to pre-schoolers. Most stories tend to end up with a protagonist in the reader's mind, anyway, whether or not the author intended one. That said, it CAN be done. This might be a good topic for a future video. Thanks!
