ive determined that if a game had a button that just kills you in 10 seconds, but makes a funny sound, spiff would end up dying to it 400 times before he finally stopped pressing it

This game makes me so mad. The fact that something with THIS MUCH pottential gets outshined by fucking Garten of Banban makes me want to die. It honestly needs way more recognition.

It steals is such a great game because all the monsters rely on a specific ruleset that they follow, and they are treated like actual *things* that exist in the maze, instead of just randomly appearing in front of you for a cheap jumpscare or a chase you can't avoid.

"It can't see you either" is such a simple yet terrifying rule

Something that makes Legs so scary is that it's the one setting the rules. The whole "flash it to make it run away" mechanic sometimes results in a chase, which suggests that it's not actually *scared* of your light, it's just toying with you. It could realistically kill you any time it wants and, when it gets bored, it just decides to chase you instead of playing cat and mouse. Something about an enemy that can defy a mechanic built to let the player defend themselves really hammers home how little control the player has.

So the first monster is called 'legs' and basically shine it to stop it. It eventually gets angry and chases you. It does the trickery near the end. The second time it chases you, it's always lethal.

The terrified "SUCK ME!" at 5:25 (ish) is killing me, imagine those being your last words. What a way to go out.

The developer of It Steals has made another game called The Upturned. It’s part comedic and part horror, highly recommend it!

Fun fact, in the star version of shutter mode, he will GO OUT OF HIS WAY to RUN AROUND YOU to get you from behind. It freaking terrifying to see him stand right in front of you, seemingly run away, and then hear footsteps quickly approaching you from behind.

For a game so simple and forthright, it's surprisingly terrifying.

It’s frustrating to watch Spiff keep running when the game keeps telling him to not run, but also it’s Spiff and squeaking.

Every level "you should never run unless you are actively being chased" Spiff: "That sign can't stop me because I can't read!"

this is so much better as a video, the vod of spigg squeaking for 20 mins and repeat dying was it's own kind of pain.

7:25 do not underestimate the power of having cold tolerance. When there is a snowstorm and you are trapped inside with some VERY annoying people who are used to the hot weather, you can just nope out and leave them behind.

It Steals is just such a well crafted horror experience. It's exactly what it needs to be, no more no less. That being said it would be great to see more content added to this game, or a sequel. This has damn near infinite potential

in hide and seek, if you don’t find him by the time you get to one orb, it yells “bad seeker!” and chases you faster than if it hunts three times. scared the shit out of me.

The hide n seek dude is just that one person at the party who likes being it to the point of choosing the shittiest spot for the sake of being it.

This level of scary is what I hope SB Ruin will be like. I want to sit in fear and not boredom

The physics of the objects in The Phantom mode just make me laugh more than anything. I love when boxes get kicked straight at you, and when you start running and stuff just starts flying everywhere xD

This game is incredibly well-made, despite the appearance of the graphics. I always love these horror games where something against or after you is going by a set of rules, and then at one point it just breaks those outright, and the flashes of text on the screen are very imposing. It really seems like this is all a big game to this thing, particularly how some parts are deliberately misleading. The way so many of the noises also sound like something between laughing and crying also adds to it, as they seem human and childlike in a way, despite what they are.

For the people who are still wondering about the title: the "it" is probably you, and you steal the blue orbs. The monsters AI all revolves around the fact that they're in the maze moving around like you are, making them also practically players of the game as much as you are. Thematically this is also probably why the monsters do so much laughing and saying "game over" and messing with you; They're having fun playing the same game you are. Too bad you didn't get the role of chasing them around.

this game really does break the common stereotypes of horror games. Nice job Spiff!

Looking back at this point where zeekers made "it steals" and now where lethal company is its just impressive how one person managed to make both of these games with so much content and quality

This game and The Upturned are such unique experiences, I just hate the fact that stupid meme horror games and obvious soulless cash grabs are the ones that get more attention, because this and that game are so much fun, even if you are really scared easily

Another horror game by this developer, The Upturned, is one of my favorite horror games I've ever played. It's not super scary, but it's extremely funny and it's just OOZING with speedrun potential.

The hide and seek mode is simultaneously the scariest and the most hilarious. The monster seems like he’s having so much fun :D

spiff trying to counterbalance all his 'no running' challenges by running constantly in a game that warns you repeatedly that running makes the game harder.

I've seen many play throughs of this game and many people either don't understand or think they understand the mechanics of the first game mode. "Classic" (This is the information I gathered from playing the game a lot. So, I might be not 100% correct but I do know a lot so trust me.) Ok. The first we talk about is the player. 1. The player can walk, run, use a radar, and hit doors. By collecting a orb or how spiff calls it. "Morbs" the enemy (Legs) will get more and more aggressive. 2. Running makes him angry. Even if you do it for a short time. (Like if you just do a squeak) and will most likely hit you. 3. Hitting the doors does nothing 4. if you shine the light at the enemy (Legs) he will run away in a random direction to a random place. Failing to do it will get you hurt. You can survive only one. Getting hit twice results in death. BUT if you shine the light at him and he runs into you he will trip you and laugh. And that DOESNT count as a hit. 5. Shining the light on legs too many times will make him go crazy and will chase you. That is the only time when you should run. Ass he will instantly kill you while chasing. 6. Collecting orbs can cause weird effects. Such as walls with an "X" will appear. These however are fake. And if you walk near them after a second it will disappear. 7. After collecting a lot of orbs the walls with have 2 red glowing dots. They are there to trick you into thinking its legs. And the more orbs you get the more they appear. 8. At the last 2-3 orbs legs will emit a blue light and make a similar sound as the orbs to trick you. While he does this you can see him on your radar. 9. LASTLY! About the radar. The radar lets you see the maze and where the orbs are. But it is also affected by light. Meaning in dark areas of the maze it will appear dark in the radar making it so you can't see the walls. BUT if there is a light area or a spot that emits light then it will show it. And also using the radar near legs will not work. And it won't let you open it. And if you are in the radar and legs gets close to you then you get kicked out of the radar. And this works for ALL monsters. Meaning you can use this to help know if it's close by or if it's gone. Ps. In the harder version it is VERY similar but with a few small changes such as you can always run, and the radar shows everything around you. And that if legs go into a chase enough times, he will just instantly kill you. (If I forgot to add something then oops.)

I was playing hide n' seek with a friend once.. I hid in her closet multiple times and every time she searched the closet, she didn't search well enough... I literally hid in the same spot at the back wall behind hung clothes onto of something and she didn't know I was there. It was a tiny closet.

Hey spiff, have you heard of the FNAF fangame titled Ultra Custom Night? Its an Ultimate Custom Night styled game but with over 700 animatronics. It also has a whole host of easter eggs to find and a campaign mode loosely based on FNAF world. I think you would really enjoy it considering how much you love torturing yourself with brutal challenges.

I have taken the challenge of trying to fall asleep to this video seriously, and have made it the first video in my sleep playlist for past 4 days.

I love the waluigi pinball music playing in the background on the deaf phantom challenge, because it feels like a Wario Ware mini game and romoves all threat from the game.

I think the first monster smacks you if he sees you running, and occasionally sneaks up on you to initiate a chase. Everytime he chased you it was preceded by a couple seconds of heavy breathing.

I remember seeing this game from another YT, I think it was Markiplier but so nice to see someone else play it cause it looked super interesting and honestly it’s quite terrifying to watch let alone play.

i remember getting 100% in it steals ages ago. And basically the way legs works in the first map is that he gets angry when you run and angry when you shine your light on him, so your basically forced to walk to max the time it takes for him to go full aggro. Once he does have a fit he will calm down a bit but eventually he will get too restless and just kill you. If you know what your doing you can just run the whole time and get everything before he gets too angry. That's how i got the no walking forward achievement was by just running cause of how many repeats i had to do

I have to say, the sound effects in this game are amazing. What it may lack in graphics it 100% makes up for in sounds. Especially the sounds like at around 48 minutes, where you hear the seabear roar from that one episode of spongebob and then some dude cracking their knuckles over and over. Ok but for real though, the sound is so cool
