Carentan was a D-day objective, but it wasn't taken till the 12 june. Donald Burgett, who wrote Carrahee, took part in the defence of Carentan. The main combats were carried out by the 3rd battalion of the 502nd regiment heading out from Dead man's corner. The Band of brothers crossed to the outskirts of Carentan on the evening of the 12th and participated in the capture on the 12th.
