Last year at the beginning of the pandemic, The 12 Poses for Osteoporosis (30 minute video) was one of the very first ones that Trish made for her channel and her yoga students because they could no longer meet together In person. It has now been a year since then and she has been posting osteoporosis videos regularly.

In this video Trish takes a different order of the poses from that original video. In this one she starts on the floor slowly moving to standing poses and then back to the floor again. These are the 12 poses in the order that you will find them in this video

In this short Hatha yoga video Trish guides the way through the 12 poses recommended in the study by Dr. Lauren Fishman which proved that yoga can build bones. She does a quick warm up and breathing practice at the beginning and then moves right into the 12 poses. Trish teaches the skill of counting the breath to see how long each hold would be for each individual person. It is recommended that each pose be held for 30 seconds in order to build bone so this is a valuable piece of information.
Because she takes the time to warm up a bit and teach the 30 seconds counting of the breath, the actual 12 poses don’t start until about eight minutes into the video so you can always jump ahead if you want to.
This video is ideal for those just beginning to work on building bones, strengthening muscles, practicing balance, and all the other wonderful benefits of yoga in general.

I found the 12 poses a couple weeks ago right after being diagnosed with osteoporosis. I love the way you lead and feel that I can maintain and even improve my bone health. Thanks from Florida

Trish I have been following you after my Osteoporosis diagnosis. I am committed to Yoga everyday in a safe way. I have been doing Yoga for many years but realize all I was doing may not have been safe for me now at 73. I like your teaching style and would love to see some more classes for Osteoporosis.

I just read your comment. I am about to turn 73 myself. I was diagnosed last month and have been doing these safe Yoga poses. I love Yoga but agree that sadly too many of the regular Yoga classes may not be doing poses that are good as we age especially with osteoporosis of the spine. I had no idea all that arching my back was hurting me but thankful to know now to make changes going forward. Trish is such a good instructor. I love her style too. It just makes my back feel so good as I daily do these exercises.

After being diagnosed with osteoporosis and after finding the pubmed study from Dr. Fishman and colleagues, I looked for guided videos and saved them all in a RU-vid library. I found your 12 poses videos just today and did this one. I am blown away by how relaxed you are and make me feel, and the sequence in which you do these poses is the order in which my body wants to do them! Thank you Trish!

agree about how relaxed she is, while still providing the required instruction for each of the poses. and the frequent reminder to do what MY body wants me to do with variations feels so permissive...in a good way.

Yes, thank you. This session was just perfect for awesome stretches, giving a feel good, also calming experience at the same time. It reminds me of doing yoga for the first time over 50 years ago. I feel so grateful to do this over again and again, I really appreciate the class without music even though I love music, but I find it better to have no distractions at this point to be able to concentrate and focus on following your teachings! there are nuances/suggestions you add to the poses which help me more effectively activate my muscles. also, i have tricky knees, and your suggestion to push down on the bent leg as i straighten it to come out of the poses makes a big difference for me! you are so accessible. you've become my go-to yoga instructor for the 12 poses. i will slowly explore what else you have to offer.

In the start of your practice on the floor - legs criss crosswith one leg behind you is quite painfully impossible for my knees and hips. I have a feeling that others with osteoarthritis of the knees, hips and spine -may experience the same thing. So I modified to make it possible.

I discovered the Fishman poses last month after listening to an osteoporosis webinar. I viewed his video & a couple of others before finding this one.
