I compare the Acura NSX to the C8 Corvette and give you my impressions of which car I really like better. Is the Acura really worth twice the price? Which car do you like better?

I've had 4 different corvettes and although sharp and fast, the last one (2003? Z06) fell apart regardless of how meticulous we kept the car well maintained. Was always in the shop for steering, brakes, etc and all kinds of issues before hitting 50,000 miles. Chevrolet did a good job with this one but after owning Acuras the past 19 years I will never own a Chevrolet again. The NSX is a dream machine in my opinion. Even though the NSX cost more than that beautiful Corvette, the NSX will no doubt last many years longer and is well worth the extra cost. Acuras are built very well. This is just my opinion but based on my experience and others who have owned a Corvette over the past 20 or so years. I do enjoy your videos. You have a dream job ha ha! Ride on!

Great video. Thanks for the honest evaluation. C-8 pretty much rules and has been a total game changer in the supercar market. There have only been a few cars in history that have done that. The C-8 is a grand slam home run by Chevrolet. I believe this is the product you get when a huge company trusts their top engineers and designers to create a masterpiece... and when you add in the price controls and restraints, it is truly an American win-win. It makes sense for the NSX to have a neutral driver position. Since the Acura is made more for export, it is easier to make a right hand drive version of the car if it has a neutral driver position. @767stick
@767stick 3 года назад
OK, for sake of argument, lets say NSX goes 0-60 in 2.9 seconds. I can buy a base C-8 for $61K, add performance exhaust for $1200 (495 HP) and have a 0-60 in 2.9 second supercar. So you say the NSX lasts longer? I can buy almost 3 C-8's for your 1 NSX.
@ELECTRICEYEMEDIA
@ELECTRICEYEMEDIA 2 года назад
@@767stick I can buy a 20 year old Honda Hatch for $5K build a B16A motor strip some weight out and smoke your built C8 for under $20K total and the Honda will run low 10's on a 4 banger no FI either. See how this game can be played? How do you qualify 3 C8's being the price of one NSX? Even used base model 1LT with 8K miles on it are selling for $72K on the average right now. 3 1LT C8's would be $216K and $76K over the price of a used NSX currently. By the way the 2017 NSX does zero to sixty in less than 2.9 seconds BONE STOCK and the 2019+ model are hitting 2.7 or less BONE STOCK. Not to mention the NSX is appreciating and will continue to rise exponentially as the NSX has been discontinued as of 2022. The market is flooded with C8's thus making them even more less desirable and causing the typical GM depreciation drop.

@@ELECTRICEYEMEDIA If you can really do that to a Honda, electric eye, do it! And then market it for say, 15-20%, a $25K C-8 killer ... you could start a little business. @@thegeneral8133 Style is purely subjective and to some the C8 will be more attractive and to others the NSX. Acura only produced about 1,500 NSX in total from 2017-2022 making them extremely rare. In fact, more rare than even a Lamborghini Aventador which VW Group manufactured over 10,000 models since 2011. There are maybe only 40 second generation NSX currently listed nationwide online here in the U.S. for sale. There are roughly 2,460 C8 Corvettes for sale online nationwide currently and they're are indeed collecting dust as most are anticipating the release of the Z06 model and are holding out. Unlike the C8, the second generation NSX has been discontinued as of 2021 ending the run of NC1 production with the 2022 Type-S model that was limited to just 350 cars. All of which are completely sold out. The NC1 NSX 2017-2022 continues to appreciate even fall of 2021 by 20%, while C8 prices have either maintained last years pricing or have depreciated by 11%. The reason someone would choose the NSX over a C8 is quite simple. They have taken the time to research the advanced technology and evolution of Honda's hybrid systems, their torque vectoring and all wheel drive capabilities. They most likely know about Honda's long history of absolute reliability and/or their contributions and major victories in F1 racing. The JNC1 3.5L TT V6 engine in the NSX is a full on race engine built on a collaboration between Cosworth and Honda Performance Development, and is the exact motor that is used in their Evo GT3 race cars. I have personally ran my 2018 NSX in temperatures in excess of 115 degrees boosting for hours on canyon cruises well over 200+ miles at a time without a single issue and I'm full bolt-on with a tune making 720hp. I have taking my NSX to drag race at the track with back to back runs from mid to high 10's and not a single issue. I have ran the NSX on a road course for 3-4 sessions in one day with the AC blowing, full interiorwithout and not a single issue as well. I still get 24-26mpg on 100 octane and beat nearly every exotic on the road and was able to stay a car and a half behind a Plaid S from a 40-130mph roll. Let's see a C8 do this! Meanwhile, the C8 as David Piccolo has stated, is simply a rehashed pushrod V8 that is now mid-mounted with a DCT and a somewhat questionable body design that in my opinion missed it's mark. The C8 has an identity crisis going on for sure. It appears that a Camaro 1LE raped a Ferrari 360 Modena and out came this bastard child C8. Hideous in my opinion. The C7 is much better IMHO. Quite frankly, the classic 60's and 70's Vettes were some of my favorites from GM. The styling was much better on the older models.

@JBsC6 2 года назад
No problems with my corvette as a daily driver and that includes rain and snow. Surely I wait a day after the 27 inch snow storm we had this winter when the town plowed but the day after the storms seems to be fine. Ive been driving rear wheel drive cars as far back as the mid 1970s...we didnt have abs brakes or active handling back then. We just drove carefully rear mid engine cars made great rally cars back then before awd. My lancia scorpion turbo back in the late 1970s and throughout the 1980s was pretty good in the snow too. Dont drive likea jack @$$ ...be careful, leave plenty of space between you and the car in front of you which are basic rules of driving in the rain and snow no matter what kind of car you drive and youll be fine. In my opinion the vehicles I tend to see off the road in snowy conditions often are cuv s where the idiot owners think because they have awd they can speed which ultimately bites them in the @$$. Awd doesnt make you any better at stopping or cornering in the snow, awd tends to just help you accelerate better in snowy conditions. Rain was fine with the c8 as well. Again just use common sense and drive appropriately for the road conditions. Ive driven corvettes for a quarter of a million miles and that includes winters. Id probably say I stayed home maybe 3 days a year total because of snow but I would have done that no matter the vehicle I drove. Im driving over 4 decades. Havent had an driving accident in decades. Use common sense in driving. Appropriately. When I was growing up and driving as a young man we all drove rwd cars...awd jeeps werent really a thing back then. Front wheel drive cars were pretty rare too..certainly not cars we teenagers wanted, only today people think awd and front wheel drive is mandatory to survive...

Your comments are spot on, but I like the fact that I could tailor it to fit my likes and budget. I was supposed to be a 2020 model year owner, but I got pushed to 2021, but was locked into the $59,999 MSRP, (with no dealer mark-up), then for $13,000, I added front lift, GT2 seats, Silver Trident wheels, red engine cover, red calipers, on top of the 2LT and Z51 performance package for half the price of the NSX. I also like the fact that I can take my roof off, and not cost me anything extra unless I opted for the convertible. It goes thru the speed digits like the Millennium Falcon moving thru warp speed. For those that choose the 2LT or 3LT trim level, you also get free Sirius XM radio for two years, free wifi hotspot in the C8 for three years (for up to six users if you are parked), and 2 months of On-Star. How about that for a bargain deal? I will just caution you that you will get a lot of attention, so buyer beware.

So if you're primarily interested in keeping the C8 for as long as its warranty is still active, then the C8 will be less costly to own. But if you're in the ownership experience for the long run, NSX all the way.
