In 1902, a fire would strike the Review and Herald in Battle Creek, Michigan. It was unquenchable and completely destroyed the printing press. Whilst investigating, it was found that the cause of the fire was linked with Dr. Kellogg and his apostasy. The Kellogg crisis would test the church in its early years and provided a real challenge to the leadership at the time. Unfortunately, Kellogg would go his own way and build his own Sanitarium, once so prosperous would eventually fade in significance.

Many thanks and God bless and keep you brothers. He raised you up to this ministry to instruct the church so that we might remember... "We have nothing to fear for the future, except as we shall forget the way the Lord has led us, and his teaching in our past history. 3SM 162.3

That statement is so typical of Mrs White. Beautifully written, seemingly profound yet untrue, unproven and ultimately meaningless. If, as I believe your church was built on a foundation of error, then try as you might to re-capture your past history and "way", you will flounder and fail to fulfill your mission, as is happening.

Our own justice doesn't works with God. Kellog's apostasy was pantheism. Ellen White think that medical ministry can be the right arm of gospel, but J.H.Kellog took the entire arm as the gospel in itself, and it's the reason why finaly J.H.Kellog went out of the adventist church. Kellog lost his first love with Jesus.

This is a pretty faithful explanation of what happened. I would add that Review fire was caused more by the leaders' hard hearts and unchristian attitudes and treatment of the workers than it did with commercial printing though, as that is what Ellen White says. Strangely, she did not come out forcefully against Kellogg's Living Temple book until 1903, after the fires.

Dr. Harvey Kellog owed his life to Mrs E.G. White, who, with the permission of his widowed father, took him under her wing for many days. He was a sickly 10 year-old boy that she nurtured back to health as a result of prayer, healthy food, and daily breathing exercises. It is sad that that precious little boy Mrs. White saved, ultimately turned his back on the truth, and became one of her biggest trials; she being forced to condemn Dr. Kellog's pantheistic heresy. This should teach us that in this life some of our good works will be repaid with evil (Psalm 41:9), and we should not be weary in well-doing, for in due time we shall reap if we faint not" (Galtians 6:9); getting closer to the end of time.

Preston Kellogg was married with several children. His first wife became gravely ill with tuberculosis. She had hired a local school teacher on summer break to take care of her, her children and the home. She request her husband Preston to marry Ann J Stanley (kellogg) when she passed. Preston did so and had Dr. John Harvey Kellogg (very sickly child, with Ann J Kellogg, that she kept home and home schooled and nurtured. A local Doctor when they lived near Flint Mich. had misdiagnosed and mistreated one of her daughters resulting in death. At that point she no longer believed in traditional Medicine and read everything she could lay her hands on about natural health treatments. SHE used this knowledge to nurture John Harvey Kellogg back to health. She was also the mother of Will Keith Kellogg (Corn Flakes). Preston converted to SDA and moved the family to Battle Creek to help financially support the SDA Church. He started another broom factory (previously a successful farmer with the help from his wife Ann's knowledgeable suggestions of what to plant and raise on the farm. Her knowledge got them out of debt and caused the farm to prosper.) Because of John Harvey Kellogg's one on one schooling with his school teacher mom, he excelled as a young child in academics. The SDA founder James and Ellen White who lived just a few blocks over in the same neighborhood, took note of JHK's academic prowess and hired him to work as a proofreader at the Herald Pub. House. Where he read all of Ellen White's books on nutrition and healthy lifestyle. The Whites even invited him into their home to live with them as a young teen working for them. They even paid for him to go to Med School, hoping he would return and help run their Western Health Reform Institute. He did. But as he became more powerful he became more authoritarian and began deviating from SDA beliefs. He even staged a coup at the Tabernacle calling for a meeting without Church approval to vote off the SDA Board those who disagreed with JHK. It was a total failure and the Board Disfellowshipped Him.

Not only interesting, but absolute fact. There is so much written about John Harvey Kellogg that I am wondering where you found your misinformation about his upbringing. John Preston Kellogg (1806-1881) first wife 1831: Mary Ann Call-Kellogg died of TB while they were living Tyrone, MI. Dr. John Harvey Kellogg nor W.K. Kellogg had yet to be born and at that time and the Whites had no involvement with the Kellogg's until a few years later. John Harvey Kellogg was born to John Preston's second wife 1842, a School Teacher, Ann Jeanette Stanley-Kellogg. She lovingly raised Mary Ann Call- Kellogg's children and then had several children of her own with John Preston Kellogg, the first one was John Harvey Kellogg. I was born and raised in Battle Creek. My mother and grandmother (1890) were SDA. My Grandmother was a staunch SDA that was constantly regalling me with Church History. She even worked in the San Kitchen.

@jackccrofootjr7228 As a 3rd generation Adventist on one side and a 4th generation on the other, l got my "misinformation" from the YT channel *l Knew Ellen White* (a series of 3). This was a living testimony from a centenarian named Alma McKibben [sp], who knew EGW for about half of her life before EGW died. I listened to this story countless times; long after l was a tourguide at Elmshaven, and interacted with her granddaughter Grace White Jacques, who, l might add, also knew Mrs. White for 15 years. Fellow Adventist brother, here is an inspired maxim that l try and live by during my rough and challenging spiritual journey--> "The conduct of some professing Christians is so lacking in kindness and courtesy that their good is evil spoken of. Their sincerity may not be doubted....But sincerity...will not atone for a lack of kindness and courtesy" (3 SM p. 238). Peace!!
