I had to watch this video twice. There is nothing wrong with you two laughing, ignore those clowns 🤡 who say otherwise. I love how you found mamie's grave, I believe she is there as well, or pretty close. This is another tragic story. 😥 when she said she was having affairs with some prominent citizens, she pretty much signed her own death warrant. Interesting about her husband dying in a asylum later. Heather, you did an outstanding job researching this story, thank you. Perhaps one day, someone out of the goodness of his/her heart ❤️ will put a simple marker on Mamie's grave. Thank you very much again, Leo and Heather, for another great story, and video. Have a great day.

$700 in 1932 would be over $15,000 today. They spent that much on her funeral but buried her in an unmarked grave? How strange!

I just wonder off hand is there any record of who paid for the funeral procedures? Keeping in mine that's her husband was a cop that probably did not make that much money on a salary, and it is very odd that one of the principle players in this little scenario committed suicide,, just makes you wonder, reminds me of the case that Leo covered of the cheerleader that was presumably murdered by the person that was the head of the School board and highly politically connected and all of the evidence except for the poor girl's dress was destroyed when he was found presumably not guilty, makes you wonder........

@@thehillbillyfiles I LOVE to hear your laughing & injoying & having fun while making your videos !😁😃😄 Laughter is good for a person & for those who are around them. There are a ton of You Tube vids out there & if someone doesn't like hearing laughter & a person having fun well I say they're free to move on. They're also free to make their own 'videos'. That is my view on that, I'm sure I'm not alone thinking that way. If they don't like laughter they can watch some of my true ghost vids. I have tons of spooky ghost pics from Gettysburg to add, one day. 🤘👻💖

My late mom's best friend was called Alberta Bell, from Logan WV. Listening to her stories as a kid of 10 or so and being a writer myself, I've often thought about writing a fictional book based on all those wonderful stories she told. Have any if you watched the channel MYSTERIOUS WV? Sean McCracken did a video on this case, and this video here just adds that personal touch. Thank you!!

@Justice4547

Not fictional. The older generations stories are historical, not fictional. In college, I was taught in Western Civ class that a true story is when 2 people give an identical account of the same even, that is considered to be an historical fact, the truth… These stories are taught in college history books as historical facts. So, no difference if you ask me.

I’ll agree everyone needs a marker so people can show their respect. We had a friend that was killed didn’t have any family because he was raised in an orphanage home. He had always said he wanted to be cremated & his ashes thrown off the back of his motorcycle in the Smokey Mountains. That’s what we did, But later put up a tombstone. We didn’t want him to be forgotten.

There is a road on the East side of the state capitol building in Salt Lake City, Utah. Locals call it Gravity Hill. As a teenager in the '70's, my friends and I would often go there and roll uphill. I grew up in SLC, but I live in North Idaho now. My son took me to SLC in 2018 to see a Bob Seger concert. I told my son about Gravity Hill and he didn't believe me. (brat...) So, I took him there. I came across one of your shows and liked it so much I am looking forward to the next one. I think the husband did it, crime of passion with the over kill. It was a small town, so he knew. But in those days, she would have been a wanton woman and ask for it. The husband would have been viewed as the victim being a respectable lawman out patrolling crime while his very loose and disrespecting wife was patrolling men.

I’m from Logan county. I use to party on 22 mountain road, to try and see her ghost. There is a cemetery in McConnel WV, which is where I lived till I was 18. My grandmother has a picture of herself sitting on a cross in the McConnell cemetery, people swear that marked her grave. I’ve been to the cemetery several times to try and find it, but it’s so overgrown. Ahhhh my hometown of Logan, damn I miss it

I have my Mamaw’s notebook when she wrote that Mamie had been killed. Heather, her first name is pronounced like Mayme. My Mamaw’s name was Matilda Jane and she was known from infancy as Mamie or Mayme. I love y’all!

Welcome to Logan, WV! It was such a great place to grow up and go to school. Graduated in 1974 from Logan High School. Every store was occupied back in the day! It definitely was booming!

Good research. You have me convinced that she's buried there such a shame a beautiful young woman murdered like that. But as I always told my kids & now my little grandsons bad choices have bad ends. She definitely was playing with fire. She's lucky she didn't end up pregnant. Poor Clarence. How convenient to blame the black man. Do you have ideas about who really did kill her? Your car going backwards up that hill - too creepy & spooky for me. I can guarantee you I will NEVER go to that road. The thought of ghosts scare the damn daylights out of me. I sure as hell do not want to meet one. You are braver people than I am Thanks for a very interesting video.

700 dollar funeral in 32 would be equivalent to a 16, 000 dollar funeral today so apparently her husband wasn't to upset by her actions to give her that expensive funeral right? When you was filming in parts of that town it gave me the chills ! What kind of vibes were you getting when you were there?

Just found you guys and really enjoy your storytelling and vids. Just noticed I look a little like the guy in this vid, share a name with a defendant and my "Gammie"s, actual name was Mamie. She was around 6 years older than your Mamie & only mystery about her grave is no birthdate. Was told she was quite vain about it. Oh, her name didnt rhyme with Gammie. How my oldest cousin said grandma when he learned to speak & it stuck.

Yep , Makes sense.....the way words sound and context gets confused sometimes .. in The 80s in WV a bunch of fisherman started aggravating their state representatives about the state stopping stocking streams and lakes with fish.......... Turns out they were misinterpreting the new ANTI-STALKING LEGISLATION they had heard about.

my comment is about one of your videos from 1 month ago called "Kentucky winter camping". Would you please give a review on the tent you used. Is it big enough for 2 adults? How sturdy? Would you recommend it etc. Measurements, how the layers work? Is it hard to set up?
