Love the sound of that feedback :D Glad you are enjoying it Mark, and thank you for the history lessons on the Burma-Shave Co. As you mentioned, although light weight they are very maneuverable and very efficient. I think I get my quickest DFS shaves with a black handle Gillette Super Speed. They kinda handle like a sports car. Not as mild as a Tech... but seem to give a tad closer shave with good comfort. :D
+Outlaw Shaver I did enjoy it, very much and I'll be using it more often. It'll be even better when I tighten the doors properly. Handles like a sports car - I like that. I love finding out about shaving products and companies. I suppose it might make my channel a little different from others but I do it because it interests me. I'm just pleased others seem to enjoy it. Cheers.
Hi Derek. They are great razors and you can pick them up for a reasonable price. I love my flare tip, it is very maneuverable and a great shave. Enjoy your weekend.
At the time, I felt it was a little too mild for me and passed it on to a friend. Now, just a couple of years later, I think I would really enjoy it. It was smooth and if you like a mild razor, then it's a no brainer. Even if you didn't like it, I don't think you'd lose money on it. Go for it buddy.
That's a hard question. I have not shaved with the G1000 but the Slim Twist is a touch more effective. I think it would be similar to a Weishi; Merkur 34c; vintage Gillette fat handle Tech (USA), I can't think of any more at the moment.
I just won a bid on a Vintage Gillette Black Handle Super Speed and Blades. I'm not familiar with the era of the blades included: Schick Plus Platinum, Gillette Thin, Gillette Platinum Plus and Gillette Super Stainless The Spoiler (the only one I am familiar with that Chris from Another Cut Above used for 20 shaves and are smooth he said). Can you help?
Jill, you've set me thinking and searching the Internet. I knew that some old blades were dated by Gillette. I don't know if I can include a picture here but I have found one where the Gillette Thin razor blade is dated N1 (1968) it's printed on one side above the centre slot. I'll try and find out more!
+Outlaw Shaver Yes, it's nice isn't it and once I worked it out (doh) it does seem to make sense, as you say, to hang the razor that way. It was also a gift. I've been very blessed recently. I love your Cowboy icon. He looks a tough character!
I just received my eBay auction win of a 1967 M 1 (1967) Black Handle Super Speed ( some vintage blades) and can't wait to clean and disinfect it to use tonight. I believe that is the first year they produced the Black Handle Super Speed.
Hey Jill, I'm sorry it took me a little while to get back to you. That's a lovely little razor you've got. I have a 1970's black handle super speed which is a lovely razor. I find it a little mild but it never the less gives a nice shave. A razor I would really like is a black beauty but the short handled version. Just at the moment I can't remember how long the handle is on those. The Super 109 handle is a bit long for me but another stunning razor by Gillette. Have a good week. 😃☀️
I have a Burma Shave Brush and it is in fact my very first brush! I used to assist a elderly man, years ago, who was fighting cancer. I was something like a combination handyman and personal assistant and he owned a Burma Shave Mug/Brush set. As the cancer progressed his family took over and we sent separate ways. Ultimately, the man succumbed to the cancer and his family gave me his manicure set and shaving items. And this is how I acquired the Burma Shave Brush/Mug and coincidentally I used the brush on the Friday this video was published.
+WolfRanger2008 That's a very nice story, Keith and, of course, you must remember that gentleman, each time you use his old brush and mug. I wish my dad had been a de shaver. Using his old brush would have been quite something, if he had one! Take care.
+William Walker Thanks, Billy. Mostly, I am a daily shaver although it varies depending on wether I've used the straight or had an aggressive shave. I tend to have a day off on Sunday. No shave Sunday! 👍
Good morning sir it’s Jon I have one of those razors it shaves great I have deferent razors that’s my favorite razor shave great better than my other razors sir a great razor
Thanks Jon. It's great when you get a razor you live to use. I'm fortunate to have a couple but I'm really liking my 1939-45 fat handle tech. It's just great!
