Off the bat I can tell this was the beginning before becoming main stream. I can tell immediately how excited, thrilled and happy they were performing this live. It's pretty awesome to watch!
+Matthew Miller That's right! I kind of figured out how to play all of the songs they play live. "Talk" was the most difficult. Takes some serious concentration to play it!
You know that the same indie bros that were nodding along saying this was "fresh" back then are the same kind of people today saying this song is too "mainstream" or too "pop"
I love how tight they are when they start - all on the exact same beat and Bam! Their energy is great...must be amazing to have an audience sing the lyrics back.
It's strange, it's like they have two versions of chocolate for their live performances. I saw them a couple of days ago at Heaven (small venue) and they played a much more rocky fast past style of the song. Whereas here, like at Radio 1 big weekend, they played a very flat and chilled version.
One of my friends used to mix his backing tracks in mono and hard pan the track to one side and the click to another, and have a Pod coming from his laptop and then his lead would come out whatever side the backing track was panned in the mono output so he could still hear the track and the click in his headphones but only the track would be sent to the front of house.
this is still my favorite live performance of them...I saw them on conan the other week and I feel like they had no energy at all but this was just awesome
I was there up in "the church" seating at the back. Great gig. Saw them at Sound Control that year too. Haven't seen them in a stadium or arena since the screaming girls and mobile phone army took over. I very much feel I saw them 'at their very best'.....
Really love this song. But that lead guitarist doesn't really play much else besides that one riff. Just goes to show how important the bass can be when bridging a melody with the drums. Even that chord progression by the bass can emote so much with the vocals. Impressed with the simplicity of the arrangement.
Some one sounds annoyed that his voice is not louder than the crowed lol It’s my gig sound like everyone’s gig wish I was there for that night . YEH IN THE CHURCH
Do you know hoe he gets a separate click mix? I am trying to have this set up for my band, but cant think how I will separate the Click and Front of house mix
Hi my name is Aaron! Please help!!! I've never heard this before so is it the name of the song or group? Further, what album did it come off & are they still around? If this is music from '1975, I truly don't remember it!!! I need a album title & group name. I clicked like, but I need more info, thanks, Aaron Norfolk, VA
Why are you acting as if you're writing a letter? The band's called 'The 1975' and the song 'Chocolate'. Their first album is out in September and it's self titled. They're from Manchester woop
