+Erika Wagner also nice how the interviewer didn't word it in a way that was like "oh you talk about depression, lets force this question upon you", it was a bit more friendly sorta "we've heard you speak about this, could you kindly elaborate on it?" Great interview
aww thats very true his eyes flickerd for ages didnt they , that makes me love him a bit to be honest because it shows how human he is and as u say just how much weight it must carry with him
Guys. This is the FIRST time we've heard matty sing/kinda sing a part of This Must Be My Dream live. I can't fucking wait for the day they actually add it onto the set list.
I honestly loved this interview because the interviewer didn't just ask the same bullshitty questions they ask in every other interview, he actually took the time to pick matty's brain and make him really talk about the key concepts and creative processes of the album. As a fan, i feel like this was really incredible to hear and i feel like I know so much about ILIWYS and I'm going to listen to it in a whole other light.
This is one of the best interviews, where it's solely about the music as it should be. It gives the listeners a clear perspective on the band, by understanding the process behind the music and what it means to the artists.
Trust me Matty a huge portion of your people come to the festivals just for your band. Like Edgefest this month. This band gives us the most honest, self expressive, relatable, wide range of music ever. And so the fans feel like they can be open to him. I think he knows that. He might feel uncomfortable of fans seeing him as their savior but it comes from a heart of fans knowing we're all just humans dealing with life and we love how Matty turned it into the soundtrack of our years. I'm going on a tangent and dunno if this comment makes since but I will adore this band all my life. I am able to be true to myself and be more self expressive because of them. Music is medicine.
Comparing it to the first world tour Matty has improoved a lot, I see him more self-aware, more calm, more stable and ambitious. That makes me so proud and happy, there's still a lot to acheive and I can't wait to follow and support the band during that jourey. We'll keep being "your people", we'll keep being "home".
What a totally great bloke he is. It is so refreshing to see someone who is as talented and also in the public eye being so himself and honest and without any ego. Loved listening to this interview. Thanks and peace and love.
honestly I don't like how people tell their favorite band/ singer that they had saved their life like just how matty said it's heavy on him they might have saved you're life but at the end of the day it's your choice to continue living
This is the best interview ever... every interview y watch is about... "Why is called The 1975?" and matty is like ... omg don't do this. But this one is really honest i love Matty so much, he's the most sincere famous person i've seen
it's so nice to hear somebody not be patronizing against younger people, and presume that they have no experience in life, the way matty said that has actually made me happy and has made me feel comfortable in the way I see things, I like that he treats younger people as he does and that he doesn't talk down to them, I like this, its good to finally hear it
These two parts were such lovely interviews. The questions asked were perfect and I'd never heard questions like this asked before, they were meaningful and allowed a lot of insight in to their music and Matty's feelings. Thank you FaceCulture :)
Bethany Smith I always imagined that Matty Healy is like a rated R version of Tyler Joseph. Both with their depression and using music to help them. Also their talent for songwriting. One went to drugs and one went to God.
I was actually very impressed on how well spoken and intelligent Matthew is. I could just feel how real and sincere he is. Something about this almost made me cry. I never see or feel this kind of emotion, with other artist like Taylor Swift or any other mainstream Pop artist. They're always laughing and smiling for the camera, and they never mention depression or GOD. I think you as a person get depressed when you realize that there is something wrong with the world, when you're eyes are open to the fact that things aren't the way that they should be, and that there is something seriously wrong with the way we all treat each other. I think Matthew figured it out, but the problem is to big for him to fix it on his own, so it's made him depressed. That and probably not enough love growing up, a traumatic Childhood. Who knows, whatever the case may be, I feel his pain, he doesn't look happy, or maybe he's just tired. I hope he finds true happiness. The 1975 music is pure Genius, I hope they keep making music for many many years to come, I have never heard a sound like theirs. We should pray for them, because he is obviously on a search for truth and knowledge. He wouldn't be as smart as he is if he wasn't. We should all pray for each other, always. Take good care of yourselves my friends, and GOD Bless everyone.
lol.....come on, Matty ALWAYS looks some combination of stoned, hungover, or sleep deprived. I think that's just his natural look. But somehow he makes looking stoned/tired/hungover look _ridiculously_ attractive.... The guy's got some top shelf genes going on....
sometime about Matty seems a bit off in this interview, like the look in his eyes. I feel like he was kinda high or something during this interview. Seen a couple of more recent videos with him and he looks way healthier and awake, compared to here where he kinda looks like in a daze (but somehow still able to speak well)
I forget which interview where he says he didn't know why,but when he was younger he would always cry on Sundays. Not sure if this is the one or not. But that was a Pastels reference. I hope he likes that band.
