Vestibular audiologist, Joey Remenyi, says that recovery from vestibular (inner ear and brain) balance disorders occurs in two steps. Step one is getting a full medical investigation. Step two is about healing, which involves neuroplasticity.

Thank you so much. Just to give you my story. I had a terrible life style working in corporate global sales. Stressful job, fights every day, coffee and alcohol as only liquids, 3 times a day meat, no fruit, max 6 hours of sleep... overweight, heart palpitations and being very irritable. after getting laid off, a month later I got an attack and lost balance organ function. Then a panic attack and my heart got stuck at 160 beats per min. Vomiting and being terribly dizzy. After a day I needed electro conversion of my heart to bring back the rhythm. The diagnose was sudden attack of atrial fibrillation. And 2 balance channels in one ear damaged. That was 3,5 years ago. I was was permanently dizzy, especially when moving my head in any direction. But this February I got another strong dizziness attack and was extremely dizzy for 2 weeks. Like a miracle, suddenly my permanent dizziness disappeared from one moment to the other. My explanation is that I improved my lifestyle in all aspects. Today I get at least 7-8 hours of sleep, I have a dog, work a part time job, eat a diet high in fruits and veggies and low in animal products, meet more friends and family, work out 2-3 times a week. In summary, if you live a proper life and dont screw your health you can heal. I will never go back to that devilish life I had before only chasing money and not chasing real happiness. I think one of my vestibular parts got “back online” thats why the dizziness stopped so suddenly. You can heal vestibular nerves!!!

Congratulations, John! Sounds like you've figured out how to manage your symptoms and triggers through trial and error. So many people say that stress affects them. It's hard to slow down, but when you do you notice the difference. Thanks for sharing your story!

Wow sounds like quite the adventure you had but thankfully you got better I’m going through the same thing just sudden dizziness and affected my one eye developed a nystagmus and get dizzy to loud noise can’t sleep with a fan on anymore my ear is so sensitive. I got a humming in my one ear from travel to see the eye doctor who told me I am fine wish I didn’t go cuz before that I didn’t have a hum or buzz…sucks I don’t drink or smoke since 2006 I’m 38 and feels like this is the worst thing in the world. I have a couple panic attacks my bp is affected as well. I know it’s vestibular related. I am a nurse. However there’s several doctors that couldn’t tell me what the problem is. However I have an ENT appointment next week and a hearing test so I’ll see what he says I don’t want him to put it off as mineres cuz I know it’s not mineres ..it’s just damage to my inner ear from being exposed to a sound at work. I was on macrobid that gave me sore muscles before this happened but I kept taking it to treat my UTI boy do I regret it. Now I feel like that started it and the loud noise triggered it. Hopefully I can find someone to help I live in a town where there’s no resources. Specialists come once a month. It bites. I wanna start healing I want my life back so I can enjoy my family my husband and kids. You give me hope. What’s your update since?

Today is Dec 16th. I went for the Rotator Chair and Water in the Ear test last week at Baylor College in Houston. Today I was told that thankfully all my "ear crystals" are in place and NOT the problem. They diagnosed me with Bilateral Vestibular weakness and I will be starting physical therapy with a therapist who specializes in this, on Tuesday. Hearing Joey's info in this video helped me understand that you CAN retrain the brain which is what the nurse who called me told me so I am very excited to finally get the help I've looked for almost 5 years now. HAPPY HOLIDAYS and Joey, great presentation.

@@cynthiaryan6413 Cynthia hi. Sorry it's taken so long to respond but I've done so much research that now, I have umpteen subscriptions and too much to go over. I am currently out on medical leave and going to physical therapy each week...just started last week but I've gone from having to hold onto something when I pick a foot up to being able to hold a foot up for 2 to 3 seconds. I read the VIDA program info though and am going to look into the Tai Chi. I have a silver slippers program available to so hopefully I'll find something at the gym I'm allowed to go to. Anyhow, thank you so much for the info and, are you involved in VIDA? C

Told myself I would come back here to leave a comment when I recovered-I was completely messed up with vestibular symptoms from covid in Jan of 2021 and could do barely anything and for a time thought my career and life might be very small. Last year I remember I was in bad shape and my tests were quite bad (no Vor). Recovery seemed hard to track and had every symptom mentioned-but now close to two I am back, fully operational (27 year old male) healthy and symptom free. I am active, and am not limited at all. I just kept active and kept increasing my exposure despite the discomfort-it was extremely challenging, but I slowly returned to normal life and my recovery followed. I remember feeling like I would never recover, and I would be shocked to see how far I’ve come. The brain and body are amazingly plastic and recover weather you like it or not. Don’t put to much pressure on yourself to “think positive” it sucks, but recovery will come your way-just keep expanding your world-keep pushing your limits, and plasticity will follow.

Hi Joey, thank you for your video. My mum has been diagnosed with VN however has severe vertigo which stops her from living her life and shes constantly worried she wont get better. Any advise on how to dealt with vertigo or dizziness? Should she try to go back to your normal activities? Is there any antibiotics or steroids to help cope with VN? We have started her on VN rehabilitation exercises at home however no improvement so far. Thanks

Greg seebeck I agree but you can’t put a price on balance and feeling sane. I haven’t ordered bc of the price so I’ve been doing the RU-vid exercises as well and have found some relief over the past few months. If she did lower the price I’m sure more people would order but they don’t bc they probably think “that’s a lot of money for something that may not work”...exactly why I won’t buy it

@@Kenoqueen I was diagnosed with PPPD at John Hopkins and was told to do Tai Chi, see a Behavioral Therapist, and take anti-depressants. I did everything I was told but saw no progress. The biggest problem was that the anti-depressant made my dizziness worse and I tried about ten different ones with no improvement. The dizziness has caused me to stumble but never caused me to fall without having the cause being a trip over something. The worse effect is that of being tired most of the time, and having a feeling of being in a dream or not really knowing what was going on around me, a feeling you might know if you remember in the first few moments of coming out of just having anesthesia. My last MRI was over two years ago and things just keep getting worse.I am scheduled for another MRI tomorrow but the ear doctor that I went to says that he doesn't think they will find anything wrong. If there is nothing I will start VRT soon. Is a pain in the left side of the head that comes and goes quickly and settles behind the right eye normal with PPPD? Bending over seems to bring the dizziness on faster , more severe than normal and last longer at a more severe pain. I have said all along (had this for going on 6 years now that I don't think that I have PPPD but something else that causes all the discomfort that I am having. What is your take on this? Jim

while part two is very good information i'm surprise at Veda having this video alone and very few of self healing not everyone can afford it I have a computer and a guide I do find the more i listen to this video it's very caring from the audiologist I have learned alot more from searching solutions and i know i'm not dying thanks to psychic messages and my own self healing and walking I had to insist and scream at every doctor ,till i found i was not getting a referall for therapy i insisted on asking to get a confirmation from the Neurologist I saw a 72 year old man who sent me for medication i insisted that I had gone to the hospital for a lung infection and also had a medication back fire on me for there is a medically induced vertigo and then i was given a small list , I think that the medical profession does not use the word God on anything and prayer is not referenced to , active meditation and affirmation while other clinics and universities actually offer exercises I am grateful for Nicole at Veda but i found my own healing thank you and she is a doll at speaking or actually listening I been my own advocate adn sorry but complaining never helped anyone only therapeutically emotionally journaling
