The 2013 Sao Paulo Indy 300 was the fourth round of the 2013 IndyCar season. The race did not disappoint as the final stage of the race will have you on the edge of your seat!! This was a true IndyCar classic.

This brought me a lot of memories, I went at the track in all of the São Paulo Indy 300 races and this was the best of the four races down here in the town.

I'd need to find the exact quote but wasn't it said at the time that Bernie or F1 wouldn't let them run at Interlagos? That was always the theory I heard in the late 90s as to why Rio and not Interlagos, and it always came back to Max and Bernie didn't want F1 being shown up by another series (see the 1990 WSC engine debacle and the comments that in 92-93 Bernie was scared of Indy being more popular than F1 when Mansell went over)

if I remember correctly, every time interlagos signed a deal with f1 it had an exclusive clause on it for open wheels cars (fia gt and wtcc raced at interlagos during the 2010's if I remember correctly)

Not sure on that, I thought I remembered SudAm F3 running there though. The weirdest one I remeber though was the ITC, the DTM trying to go global, with races in Suzuka and Brazil and a weird calendar however@@Corvoreviews

@@jacekatalakis8316 yeah, but f3 is like indylights was to indy, a road to f1 type séries, and also was a regional séries, not global scalling and " rivaling" f1 like indicar was

It was/is, but it was also seen as very prestigious due to the talent level of the drivers who came through it though. I'm trying to find if they did run there or if I'm thinking of another track however@@Corvoreviews

Recently there were rumors of interest in an Indy race at Interlagos, initially non-championship points, as well as in Argentina. However, so far there is no progress in any of the races. Brasília tried to host an Indy race in 2015, but the race track was out of date, they postponed the race until the following year, but the race ended up being canceled and the long-awaited renovation only began in 2022.

and only in 2023 will we have a race again on the São Paulo street circuit, with the Formula-e but with a modified circuit, not using the route that Indy used apparently, it was one of the best Formula-e races of the year, often labeled as "boring" or "not a real race", but in São Paulo, whether on the streets or in Interlagos, there is no such thing as a bad race!

Awesome video. This is the kind of road race you always hope to see but don't always get such high drama at the very end. Great race for sure. Such a ballsy inside pass coming off that last turn you could see Sato trying to defend it well and James just put a great move on him. I always like the idea of having INDYCAR race in the Americas outside the U.S.

One of the best races of rhe last 20 years. I loved this circuit....and I am a Hinchliffe fan and he was just coming on as a star in these days

Seen this race in different videos multiple times now. And never can't get enough of Hinch's last lap winning move. Beautifully played from him. Also Indycar needs to go back to those Sao Paulo. Doesn't matter if it's the streets or Interlagos as both seem to be fantastic tracks

This is one of the handful of non Indy races I remember really well from my childhood. I’m excited for wec racing there next year and I hope indycar can make it back there someday.

A chaotic and eventful race in Brazil... and the home driver with a great shot at winning retires because the team miscalculated his fuel. Where have I seen that before? 🤔

Really want Indycar to come back to 🇧🇷, I'd 100% attend the race, but unfortunately I don't see it happening, there's just not that much interest in Indycar over here unfortunately, now less than ever cus Tony and Helio are no longer racing
