Is it VRS or RS with a v in front? Only Skoda know that one, It's some machine and here's a review of it. Let me know what your thoughts in the comments below. Music right here / tracks
I love this car, if a bit too dull for me still. I say it's a sophisticated, "grown up" hot hatchback. In your 20s you get your hooligan needs out in one of the real hot hatchbacks (clioRS, megane RS, Fiesta ST,...), then in your 30s you move on to something more refined like the vRS (estate for a young family) or GTI and then in your 40s+ you end up in an Audi or Merc, most likely a diesel god forbid lol
Wow that's an interesting look on things I'd say ur pretty much spot on. I'm 29 and currently looking an audi a4 avant, iv low income and have only recently started to save like fuck iv 13k wrapped up and ready to spend but in the audi world that seems to only get u a ball of shite driven for 10+ years and has 4+ owners, I know the current used car market is ridiculous at the minute but now thanks to this your comment im seriously re considering my options
@@ayesurewhynot2898 I know some people just can't look past the badge. For me with either car you are still in the VW group of products, with very similar engines, size and performance,... except that if you go for the Skoda, the same money will get you more (bigger engines, lower miles, etc.) Obviously you should test both, that is the best way to tell, but I don't think you will be missing much if you decide to go for the newer Skoda over the slightly older Audi. I wish you happy used car buying!
great review although I think the only vrs that is 230bhp from stock is the vrs230. This version is 220 bhp. Got the estate arriving in 2 days!!! yeah boi
When I run my Rapid up too 100 K miles I will trade it in for an Octy VRS Estate with the big wheels everyone hates. Just to top that off it will be in Rallye Green. Love the reviews. Awesome car and I look forward to catching up with the rest of the reviews on your channel as I'm back home now.
Hi Bob, "with Apple Play I'll be completely lost" :D. I assume you don't get the throaty noise on the 184hp diesel, more like a tractor sound? The 230/220 HP petrol are few and far between second hand. Ta
I've had 2 of these on hatchback and the combi. Only reason I moved away is for tax reasons as I am self employed. I will be going back to the combi when I have to change and register it commercial. It killed me to hand the keys over. Best car ever driven. You will not be let down and don't be put off by the badge snobbery.
Great video Bob, love the way your videos don't appear forced or scripted like most car reviews, keep it up! Comfort wise, how do those wheels feel on Irsh roads?
I have never scripted a car review, even I don't know what I'm going to say before I shoot. The whole car is well planted, it's a Skoda and that's alway a good start.
Mick Delaney Ordered the end of October hatch version. Was built the end of November. Only extra I got on mine was the Black pack, so no chrome surrounds. Hope ya enjoy it man, loving mine so far even though I have only 130 miles on it so far.
Same with mine it was week 48 production. Got a few extras sat nav heated seats challenge pack few others. Was due in first week of Jan but delayed to the 3rd week for some reason. 130 miles you need to get it out on a road trip man haha
Mick Delaney Do you mind me asking why you specced the satnav considering the car comes with smartlink as standard, so Google or Apple maps depending on your phone. Haha, have a 2,500 mile European trip in it planned for the summer.
There is a facelift coming out in the summer, a face lift only a mother could love. pity as I'm due to change mine in July. time to buy a fecking superb
Just curious. I'm looking at buying brand-new two potential cars are both very different-. Skoda Vrs, the new shape- BMW one series 120D- yes, I know one's diesel and . One is petrol-, not really bothered about space. Either way , I'm more interested in the fun factor- mpg well , I Realise the VRS is going to be less. That's a given- What's your thoughts
+jkmsaturn it's a press car, the engine will always run perfectly. The sound is piped in so I imagine it'll sound sick if the engine is sick. It's not a recording, it's the actual sound amplified and bass added
Hi Bob Do you think This would be a Decent choice for My Next Car In 1.6 TDI 110BHP Se sport Trim? They Look Unreal In The Red As I Haven't Drove One yet Your opinion would be appreciated Many Thanks :)
Yes, the 110bhp is a fine car but beware if you aren't doing the millage a diesel isn't worth the excess you'll pay to buy and keep it. It's a tough choice but you are making the right start with a Skoda.
Bob Flavin thanks for getting back Bob I appreciate it . I will definitely be doing High enough miles But i was impressed By the 1.2 Tsi 105bhp in the toledo But the toledo felt like it was made from paper very light on the road Being blown all over the place I haven't drove An octavia yet im hoping It's nothing like that Many thanks .
Yes, the noise is always there when in sport mode. In the video the radio is turned all the way down. The wheels are much better looking in the metal, I still like them
The Soundaktor is a device which pushes synthetic engine noise into the cabin by vibrating the front windshield. I quite like it, makes my GTI sound like a V6
Bob, you have taste. You love the VW California. A man of taste. A man with discernment. Why are you driving a roller skate on horrible wheels? Those are UGLY!
I have a race blue vRS diesel version with the challenge pack ordered since the first week of october, its due in next week cant wait. Any idea what it sounds like in sport mode on the diesel?
Bob why do you say the RS if you're from the UK? You're Irish not British, however, I don't see the difference as a Canadian. You are all brothers to me, black, white, tanned, whatever. Anyway have a good 2017.
It's the VRS in the UK because it looks like a V in the name. We call it RS in Ireland and Europe but Irish people sometimes say vRS. It's complicated really
The car is OK - even I am not and never was a very big fan of Skodas (dunno why, but there is just something about those cars I don´t like). But those wheels are just terrible :-( In addition i find it a bit sad that it is necessary to "fake sounds" on new cars like this. I prefer "the real deal" from my V6 :-)
I"ll be as constructive as I can. The sound production is mediocre. The video is everything BUT the 2016 Skoda Octavia vRS review. The weather, I had sex behind that rock, the tractor, the dirt. There are samo good reviews out there, You should check it out. And whipe your nose :) Entertaining indeed.
