It is competing in the new and competitive CUV segment! Turns out a lot of people don't want to drive cars anymore but they still want some of the utility of an SUV.

Make sure you let everyone know about the 2017 Buick Encore and the issues they have. Like the problem with the intake leaking air, with that the engine can't get the proper air and fuel mixture. Which can cause the car to catch on fire. Also let them know that they have a problem with them leaking antifreeze. If both of these issues happen at the same time it's possible the car can go up in flames even faster. GM has known about this issue for a long time and they haven't decided to recall them because they haven't heard of enough of them burning. But they won't tell you when they sell it to you. Are they waiting for someone to get killed before they do something about it? The government also should have stepped in and forced them to correct the problem or quit selling them.

Just Google it and you can read it for yourself. I'm not very happy because I just bought one in September and I paid cash for mine so I don't have a car payment. Now I'm not happy that I bought it. 😕

Excellent video. I have had this CUV for 4 months - bought the Encore Sports model. I just love it. Plenty of head room , love the safety package, and has a beautiful ride. You were spot on. It was worth spending a few extra dollars. Also a hidden bin under the passenger seat is an awesome convenience. It is so easy to slide in and out of the vehicle due to it's height.

In South Africa they call it the Opel Mokka. I was searching for it’s safety rating on NCAP crash testing and stumbled on this great review. I purchased one this week and really happy with it. Thanks again for the informative review. By the way, I can save you the search... It got the full 5 stars in the NCAP crash test trials.

Made in Korea. These new Buicks made in Korea will start with an K on the Vin #. (look on drivers side Windshield or Drivers side door-plate / sticker for the Vin# ) Buicks made in China -- the VIn# starts with an L . USA Made cars start with 1 or 5 . Canada starts with a 2. I just bought this vehicle used. Your review was extremely helpful orienting me to the vehicle and confirmed my thoughts about it. I laughed when you focused on the arm rest because I thought it looked cheezy and my husband blurted out: "What! No armrest for me!" when he got into the car. Thanks for a great review.

We don't have keyless start in the Uk ours is Vauxhall. I just brought one. I Am super happy with it. I drove a manual transmission prior.

Thanks for the review. I just bought the Sport Touring version a couple of days ago. And yeah, really starting to like it. Actually, the more I drive it the more I really like it. And this coming from a BMW guy. ;) I have to admit, I had to get over the Buick stereotype stuck in my head. I'm not sure why though. My mom had a Regal many, many years ago and it did just fine for her. So, very positive experience. The inside is very roomy and comfortable. It's a good SUV. I'd highly recommend one. Cheers!

I have a '17 Encore preferred awd..have had for just 1 year..great mpg's and in snow..I don't use arm rest, just flip it out of my way...nice review man.

If you /we still look likey you are under 40/50/60 years old and you still have enthusiasm think about your/our next car or valet service, We will firmly believe the current most recent Buick lineup was the competitive brand name that came to mind first! The Encore i is competing in the new and competitive CUV segment! Ti a lot of people want to drive cars but they still want some of the utility and reliability of a mainstream SUV.

I'm driving a 2014 and it's been in the shop a lot. The strangest things going wrong that's I've never had on any other car I've driven. My mileage is 50K. I love it otherwise. The quiet cabin is a major thing for me, I have a hard time dealing with road noise (hearing issues.)

I just turned in my 2019 Encore Sport Touring. Actually the second one I had. Previously leased a 2016 Sport Touring. I really liked both. Did not have any problems with either one. The Sport Touring engine is the one to get. When you kick in the turbo this car accelerates quickly. Quiet. rides well. If you can find the one I turned in, you would be getting a great car. 😎

I don’t trust the miles per gallon digital reading anyway. I do the maths at the gas station and have never gotten 44 miles to the gallon best I’ve gotten is 34mpg on open road on Sport Touring model…BTW, I love, love, LOVE my white 2019 Encore. It is the perfect fit for me, drives like a dream and so quiet!!!!

I just rented one while my 2005 Corolla's in the shop. I like the way it handles, BUT ... all modern cars come without CD players, and I have dozens of CDs. I dislike listening to the yammer on radios. I like that it doesn't have a CVT. I wish that you had said more about the engine.

A vestigial armrest and manual adjustment for the seatback are unforgivable flaws in this CUV.

Great informative vid....but feel with all the features being added into rides...might have to go to driver's ed again...LOOOL! Wouldn't that be interesting with a 40 something surrounded by teens...but will tell said teens I know how to use a stick...ROFL!!!! Confuse them...

If you live anywhere that hits -18°C / 0°F DO NOT BUY THIS VEHICLE. Condensation can build up in the turbo then freeze - leading to increased crankcase pressure, blown seals and roughly a $1,100 repair if it’s not under warranty. I live in Calgary and it’s happened to my 2019 twice in 31,000 km. GM had to put out a technical bulletin on Encore/Trax models in 2017 and the only solution they’ve come up with is a ridiculous winter grille cover. I loved this vehicle before the issue popped up now I’m looking to trade it for a Mazda CX-5.

Not criticising the review but I have had the misfortune of driving a number of the UK versions of this car - they are reasonably popular, but terribly drab and lifeless. As exciting as having a new coolbox but no beers.

Fair comment... thats why I described them as purpose built as a daily commuter. We typically drive and test sports cars and luxury cars... whenever we review basic commuter car we try not to be bias about the lack of excitement as it is not a priority to consumers looking at these cars. When I was shopping for a car, I was going to test drive the Encore. I got into the passenger seat and immediately was dumbfounded by the lack of armrest. That was a dealbreaker for me. I got out of the car, thanked the salesman for his time, and didn't even bother driving it.

Its one of those things that you might not pick up on in a test drive but then really wears on you over time with real use. Another one that I have encountered is A/C vents in some cars that always blow in my face... great comment
