@Whut not even about being broke but being a responsible adult with a family... You get a fun to drive commuter which is reliable and carry a family without dumping your kids savings into it yearly to keep it running... Adults have other expenses such as a mortgage, child care, savings etc..... Crazy that people think spending 40k on a car is now considered "broke".
@@aaronduran5908 When the accord sport exists Toyota should feel ashamed but being a fucking chevy jr, a body kit and a badge doesnt sell cars. Normies hate its looks and enthusiasts hate the performance. The wing does nothing but increase its drag for an already slow car and no actual track upgrades means the flagship body and name in racing is just a hollow shell for better parts to inhabit.
As someone who actually owns a TRD Camry....it's great! Very smooth and accelerates surprisingly well. With all wheel drive and about 75 more horses, it would be a perfect sports sedan.
I honestly think this design is awesome. I am glad someone at Toyota got this approved. At least they are trying to make different variants to their normal cars. I would definitely get this over normal xse model.
This just needs the supercharger from the Lotus Evora and a stick shift and it would be perfect. Edit: I know there is no way Toyota would make this car in manual, however if they just added the supercharger AWD and did some suspension upgrades they could sell it as the Camry GRmn and have a great sports sedan.
I LOVE it! You can't accuse Toyota of making boring looking cars anymore. It really pops in that red. This car just screams for a 6 speed manual and a LSD. If it had those 2 things I know I would have gotten it. Thanks for the review!
Anthony White II I never said a sedan can’t but if you’re looking to fit those things it’s better to get an SUV or pick up. It makes no sense to hold that against a sedan
Petrus Edward Jr. as Anthony said, sedans can fit things. I never had an issue fitting those items in my sedans and I never had an SUV because driving one is meh (unless you are willing to pay double and get something sporty like a 2y old porsche macan)
It has 300hp and its front wheel drive.... you arent even going to get a reaction to that lol. I had a Q50s awd with a faster trans, awd, and 338hp, unless you drive a prius daily and are deathly afraid of roller coasters, you wont have any reaction.
A 300 hp Camry! Unthinkable to me in the late 90s. To put that into perspective, it was around 2000ish that a mustang GT had about 300 hp. So for someone in their late 30s the jumps in performance in the industry in general is amazing.
This car sounds badass. This is the only car in its class with these type of driving upgrades. So this is hands down the coolest sedan in its class right now would NOT be embarrassed to own and drive this car not sure why you guys said that. Car enthusiast are supposed to like cars like this. The 2GR motor always sounds sweet with a exhaust. With these TRD upgrades this is definitely a sweet packaged car.
June 7 meh. It’s a good and bad thing. Bad because finances aren’t strong. good because even if you do have strong finances that first year depreciation on a new purchase is slaughter. For example a 32k Toyota Trd new will be worth 22k after you drive it off the lot.
I am stoked for mine to arrive. Being in the over 30 club. The camry will allow me to have a dependable car for when I have kids, but will allow me to hold onto my youth for just a little longer before it fades forever.
Toyota dealership for the company I work for had a couple drive hundreds of miles to buy a TRD Camry only to have it ruined by an out of control driver cutting through the dealership and hitting it. Still sold it immediately after $20k worth of work. These things are so hot right now
I took my wife and 16 year old out for dinner this evening. He's currently learning to drive. We saw one of these in the parking lot. Same color, with some aftermarket window tint. My son loved it and talked about how cool it looked. Enough said. Of course, I sent him a link to this video.
I can’t stand it when car companies put out a “sport version” but then basically keep the exact same power train as the regular model. Also, the rear deck spoiler on this is hilarious.
I was thinking StraightPipes should do a mass comparison of every brands "sport" or "GT" badged cars and see if they're actually that much more sporty than the regular versions
Right? Wish they'd at least give it a small power bump. There's definitely 10-15 more hp and a few torques to squeeze out of this engine with a slight tune
A more aggressive factory tune, intake and exhaust tweaks and they could easily pump out an extra 25hp and similar tq all while keeping the factory warranty and reliability. Honestly I think it has more to do with EPA requirements and fuel economy that stops most manufactures from adding power to these "sport" versions.
@@toyotabrony if FWD were better, why are all high HP/high TQ performance and super cars RWD or AWD? We once owned a 250hp FWD car and hated the torque steer. Have a RWD BMW now and it's so much better. I couldn't imagine the 365whp/595lb of torque my BMW puts out (tuned twin turbo diesel) routed through the front wheels. 😂
I'm not going to lie that TRD Camry sounds hella good! Imagine with a set of headers along with drop in k&n air filter & a Dyno tune that car would rip
In another review, it was claimed that the Accord was still several seconds faster than the Camry TRD on a track. (Although when I looked for actual numbers I didn't find the lap times for the TRD and didn't spend time looking further.)
the average person won't be looking for a car like this and the non average car enthusiast wouldn't be impressed by this either. i don't know who toyota is trying to target when they made this
Troy Andrade at around 30k, you'll be able to get much better cars, new or used. new car example: veloster N. used car example: too many to list, you can either spend all ur budget on a car in great condition or buy a shitbox and mod it to high hell with the leftover cash
Embarrassed? Come on, man! Haha. I'm definitely looking forward to the 2021 Model. It's gonna be my first "New Car" purchase. Test drove a 2020 model a few months ago and man, I loved it. So much fun.
@@noahwarren9462 Got it, love it. The Wind Chill Pearl mixed with the black and red really pops. It honestly feels more like a tuned-up Scion tC than a Camry.
@@ddearing I have a scion tc and want this car the only thing I hate is that you can't fold the two back seats can you post a video of your car if you don't mind
For the same price you could get: 2019 Lexus ES 350 F Sport!! 2017 C Class AMG 43 2016 BMW 6 Series (Couple Grands More) 2017 Lexus RC 350 (CGM) 2018 Audi S5 Sportback Prestige (CGM) 2020 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 ( Close CGM) 2019 Genesis 3.3Turbo Dynamic Package ( Close CGM) I know I know is a Toyota which is cheaper to maintain etc etc but are you buying it for the sports car feel and look? Then I'm afraid there are better options for the same price.
I think it is awesome, and one mistake you guys made in the intro was u said xse well it's based on the se trim not the xse. Just thought I should say that lol. They just removed the 4 cylinder from the se and put in the v6 from the xse with some suspension changes.
Thanks for the video. I LOVE the Toyota TRD looks and all! I would totally get this over the XLE version and I am a dad in my mid-forties. It was on our short list for a new second car. You get a lot of car and performance for the money all wrapped up in that legendary Toyota quality. Frankly I don't know how Toyota was able to do it. There were ultimately two strikes against this car which made us go with something else. (1) this is not offered in a manual. My wife and I are all about saving the manual especially for our second car and (2) the car is too big :( We would not be able to fit this car in our garage with our other car. To us it always made sense to use a two car garage for two cars. Ultimately we got a Honda Civic Type R and with NO regrets. I do have to give respect where respect is due and I applaud Toyota for making this car. I really believe the people who would buy this car are looking at manuals. We were. Apparently, this car is selling very well for Toyota so we might see a manual in the near future. Thanks again for the review.
This engine sounds great , I heard the exhaust of a v6 Camry of this gen , I think it was straight piped and it legit sounded like a fucking racecar , I was so surprised that's a Camry
I’ve owned 1 Camry kept it less than a year... it did everything ok but it was just to boring and it just made me real like an everyday lemming back and forth to work in a boreing car... great video though glad you guys are back...
Just saw your guys reply about the segments being added and that is the best touch to any car channel I’ve ever seen if it’s not too much work I think the community would love it! Thanks again guys for the awesome reviews, if you guys ever get the chance could you review the 2020 Volvo S60 R design, just wanna hear your guys input on it! Thanks again, and stay safe out there!
I really like this car for some reason. Not over designed like all the other cars nowadays, pretty similar compared to other cars too. I like it a lot.
i think for the price it’s a great car for inspiring car activists. best part about toyota’s too is the aftermarket and manufacture support, cheap repairs, many options
“According to him” DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH AND THINKING , sheep! That just pissed me off. Especially since he’s a biased liar. Open your eyes! Also he didn’t buy it , that’s another lie he does. He’s a clickbait bitch . He just reviewed it. It’s not his car.
I think this is an awesome car. It's for either the guy who isn't quite into cars yet. Or a car guy to get a kinda fun car past the wife. It looks great but the wang is a little weird, it's also the cheapest way to get a v6. I personally would wait for the Sonata N-Line instead of this but you cant beat the reliability and resale.
I think the most amazing part about this Camry is that it actually made you laugh driving it (6:52). When can a *CAMRY* make a claim like that? When has ANY Camry been fun-*ISH* to the driver? With that said, I'd take the Sonata over this. That turn signal indicator camera is more than enough to sway me to it. Plus, there's still an N-Line that's coming out, no point in getting one at the moment with the engine choices as they are. (180hp 1.6L turbo or 198hp 2.5L NA? Wtf kind of choice is that?)
SUPER happy with my '18 VW GT. The two major complaints they seem to have (space and transmission) are major strengths of the GT, with comparable power. Fewer electric toys and less expensive too. And I get a LOT of comments on it from people that know what it is, or GTI/GLI owners that don't.
I wanna see the transmission theyll put behind it. GM tried the transverse v8 thing for years. Motors ( LS4) were great, problem was the transmissions wouldn't last long.
But you gotta understand the price of something like that would be around 50 grand and who’s gonna pay that much for a Camry? Lol its meant to be practical and affordable. A little over the top with the rear wing but I think this car makes a lot of since...
@@Turshin yeah fwd transmissions have to be pretty small to fit so how strong of a trans can you get and matted to real v8 torque that makes sense that it wouldnt be that durable
I will have a TRD Corolla by next week, just bought TRD stickers and TRD emblems, slap it on my Corolla. That is what Toyota do, just slap a Sticker no power upgrades and tack 10 grand more on the price :D
Yeah I don’t get it either, i test drove one as well and handling and difference is significant compared to XSE. Sport mode does change the drive exp. Though i feel reviews are hard since they drive all sorts of cars like gt2’s and lambos. As someone who never drove an amg or whatever, climbing from SE camry to TRD was fun and enjoyable for a regular joe like myself.
@@JS-hw8ve spot on underrated comment. These guys commenting on here probably can't afford any car hence wishing that they wished they added a V8 or awd plus manual. They don't get that if they did that it would fall into Lexus pricing and there will be barely a market for it, makes no sense. Their just idiots. One thing I do wished it had is a LSD. I own one and sometimes the tires squeal but again it's not a race car but an amazing daily. I highly recommend it, if you can get one. Their very limited.
Appreciate it man and hope time's get better for all of us , that being said these reviewers need to cover all aspects of reviewing a car , I find that the straight pipes are all about their personality and not their car knowledge or making reviews for real people in real life. Not guys going to the track, on top of that what you get for the price. All of these guys that are saying it's a dad car know that I don't have any kids and had alot of options to play with but had to consider practicality and reliability. I don't like throwing too much money in a car, they become endless money pits. Hope you get that car soon.
@@kinluke The two big reasons were interior space and I didn't want that 1.5T engine with the oil dilution issues. Just for the record, the Type R was never a consideration.
@@wesleesharp ahh i see! Thanks for sharing. I assume you're also subscribed to Scotty Kilmer? By any chance? He talks alot about the oil dilution problems of the 1.5 Turbocharged engine. Apparently Honda has solved the issue with one simple software tweak. Still contemplating about getting a Civic though.
@@kinluke I am a subscriber to Scotty but I heard about it before he mentioned it. I wouldn't be as hesitant to buy a new Civic since they've fixed it but a used car that has experienced the oil dilution may have worn the engine too much and cause premature failure. The Civic is a good car, just not what I was looking for. If I was looking for a small car, I would go Corolla. I'm mostly a Toyota guy but the Accord really grabbed me.
