Great review - just put an order in for S4 couple weeks ago (daytona grey, black optic, red interior). I drove twelve other cars and while S4 may not have been first in any attributes I want, it was very good in all of them. It truly is a terrific all-arounder IMO. Ride quality in M340i just too harsh and G70 3.3L too tight, though great fun to drive.
Good review .. until you said ... “a single guy like me ....” I just got a 2021 s4 and I’m a married mom with 2 kids and it’s everything I have ever wanted in a vehicle. I loveee it - I got white exterior, red interior blacked out prestige with everything added ... including louder exhaust 🤩 and she’s fasssst
I just purchased a 2022. You’re right about the 1 real negative…throttle response in comfort mode is delayed from a stand still. I have set Individual for Dynamic with quieter exhaust, and go between. The ride is never harsh. Just enough power to be fun and special, but still pretty good economy. They may have tweaked the braking, because mine has great initial grab to them.
@@monkeyy_52 absolutely. When in comfort mode, and need to hop out in traffic, I just pull back gear shift into sport, and kicks out with no issue, then shift gear lever again to go into comfort. I generally drive mine in individual, but when wife is with me keep it in comfort.
I have an S4 Daytona Grey, Black Optics with Grey Stitching and Carbon Inlays. Awesome Car, I came from SLK’S, CLK’S MERCS. This S4 is better. The S4 does have the get up and go, it’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing for sure. Build the boost and hang on, watch out for the boys in blue, the speed builds strongly and quickly. The Drive Select does change the character of the vehicle, in Dynamic the adaptive suspension firms up dramatically. I hit a pot hole on the drivers side, low 35 profile tyres, I blew out both tyres, yes it is firm. The exhaust note turns to a nice growl, the steering sharpens up, the gear changes sharpen up and it holds the gear significantly longer. The 6 piston callipers stop you very well, they have saved me with room to spare twice. Then HUD shows speed, if navigation is active it will indicate turns, lane changes etc. Lane keeping assistance etc. My wife loves it, because nobody beats her at the lights. It is a surprising car, of course you an get more in a car, I am not sure what for, you can’t use it. This sure footed little mid-sized sedan offers more than you can use any where and it does easily. My recommendation, take one for a ride and be prepared to be pleasantly surprised and satisfied. There is a good chance you will buy it. I recently did drive a significant road trip 4500 km, I averaged 7.3ltr/100km for the entire trip that’s really quite reasonable. In one highway leg I achieved 6.7ltrs/100km for 740km on one tank of fuel.
I just bought my S4 Premium plus two days ago. I love it!! Still trying to figure out how to turn the AC off. It just randomly turns the fan on even though it says “AC off”.
AC off turns off the compressor, just piping in outside air w/ the fans running. The 'off' button to the bottom left of the passenger temp dial is the actual off button.
The stock wheels are completely undersized for this chassis. Glad to see Audi went back to turbocharging instead of the last generation supercharging. The HMI display just looks ugly no matter what manufacturers do and just sticking it straight up from the dash that just looks like a tablet that was threw on as an after thought. As for the brake pedal travel, there is no excuse on any high performance sedans to have this. My B5 S4 doesn't do this and it definitely is a step backwards. Perhaps there is some computer intelligence behind it but if it detracts from the driver's experience, it needs to be re-evaluated. Nice review.
No it doesn’t, I forget exactly what the salesman told me but our trim packages are different, we always get the heated steering wheel standard among a few other things that only come on the round steering wheel.
@@dins.garage I won't drink Diet Coke, it tastes awful. So saying Diet Pepsi is as good or better than Diet Coke isn't a complement. If the zf8 doesn't come with a clutch pedal, then to me it is as undesirable as a VW dual clutch transmission.
