The 2021 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Blue... But this one is Sonata Blue, its white....
Check out the all-new 2021 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. But this one takes it up a notch because its the blue edition, which means its lighter, and gets even better MPG's than its "regular" Hybrid brethren. Today, I take a look around the car, drive it, and explain how its better than the similar Hybrid offerings from Honda and Toyota. Come for the Hybrid review, stay for the Sonata jokes!

I bought the same exact model. While I dont have power/heated seats, leather, and a sunroof the MPG plus the smart cruise plus the highway drive assist is well worth it. It also has wireless carplay. Love it.

I love my Palisade. They designed that with a ton of thought. USB ports in the seats, lots of USB ports. The air vents can blow direct or diffused air so if you have an infant, you don't have air blasting directly on them. It drives nice. Has plenty of power with it's NA V6. It's twin the Telluride and the Palisade are in hot demand. Now they are coming out with a version that has screens in the back for the kids. The 10 year power train, 5 year bumper-to-bumper warranty and 3 years of maintenance. It's a nice ride. I test drove all the 3 rows, Explorer, Pilot, CX-9, Atlas, QX70, Tahoe...so many. Now I don't need a 3 row and want to get a Mustang GT.

Right at the very beginning that was me a few hours ago. Got in the gas line at Costco in my GMC Sierra, a Toyota SUV was ahead of me, and we both hit the pumps at the same time. The SUV driver was done and gone at least 2 minutes before I was done. The numbers didn’t really fly by for me, but they certainly did keep going up!

Can u explain more when the engine kicks on and off? Like can i go 20 or 30 mph and at 35 it kicks to gas? Or will it use battery untill u floor it or it dies? Cant seam to find anything on it I am.new to hybrid so maybe a dumb question to some... but useful to me :)

It totally depends on the throttle input and climate control demands. You can make it drive on battery only for quite some time. But at some point the engine will kick on to charge the battery back up if nothing else. But it’s not like the Chevy Volt Where it runs on battery no matter what until the battery dies.

My Lyft ride a few weeks ago was in a 2020 Sonata Hybrid. I actually liked how it rode and the interior was pretty decent, more spacious than a Camry in the back seat at least. But yeah its a catfish...I'm hoping the dealer will let you borrow a Veloster N next. Too bad I'm not in Wichita, I'd love to lend you my manual Elantra Sport.

What repairs? They already have a great warranty and my Fusion Hybrid with 58k on it has had no repairs of any kind yet.

Most of the time, reviewers gravitate toward the top of the line models. Here you're pointing out the virtue of the simpler model. I've driven one of these already, the only difference being that the car I drove had the grey interior. What I remember was getting the average back up to 40 mpg after the salesman spent quite a bit of time demonstrating the car's features. I might have been missing something about the trip computer, as I couldn't reset the fuel consumption average just before we left the dealer's lot. I can also admit to no temptation to test the self-driving capabilities, such as they are. Self driving sonata my bag, baby.

Yeah where I love 3.2 a gallon rn in my car the ram 1500 hemi don’t drive much rn because it almost cost me 88 dollars fill up which if I daily drive that’s every 5-6 days so currently my focus been a life saver at the moment.

Very nice the dealer let you showcase their Sonata Hybrid...maybe next time, you can showcase a Hybrid, since this is Sonata Hybrid... Ok, I'm done here...lol I agree though, the Sonata lineup has been good for at least the last twenty years. Haven't had the chance to play with a Sonata Hybrid or Sonata Hybrid Blue yet. Rented a Toyota Prius once...enjoyed the little video game it had me play to try to keep it in electric mode. Does this thing give you a score at the end of your ride like the Prius?

Do Hyundai still have their engine quality problems? I was considering used 2013/14 i30s (Elantra GT) but it seems like around that time they were having engine issues on the petrol engines. Shame as Hyundai/Kia make some great looking cars. Hopefully they’ve got it together for the newer ones.

Ya sonata very good to have a traditional transmission , I’ve seen them fail in low mile Hyundai’s quite often , because the clutches cant take the electric TQ !! Toyota if you want long term reliability

If its like the past a rust bucket. It cost a boatload to replace the fuel tank when it rusts out and starts leaking. As for range, hell my 1991 VW Jetta would do a comfortable 600 miles on a tank and in the 20 years, I owned it The fuel tank never rusted out and had to be replaced.
