Seriously - the second half of Boston is so much harder. Chebet and Fauble was the only guys on the leaderboard not to positive split

Although it appears that an even pace is good at achieving a solid effort. A winning effort sometimes requires a negative spit or faster second half. What i mean is that during the latter stages of a race, the prepared athlete should not give way to fatigue but should be prepared to run those last 2 miles the hardest. Thats where victories are achieved.

She just missed out on several spots to be mentioned here but my friend Dakotah Lindwurm is on the rise as a young American marathoner and broke 2:30 as well. She won Grandmas and is a former Hockey Goalie in minnesota! Quite the fun backstory! She led for the start of the race and is known for her huge smile while running!

That was my 4th in person Boston and fastest by 7 minutes! Was neat to see the elites race, as I was on the course. 10 marathons in 10 years cancer free!!

3:19 is still very respectable... 4:50/km for 42.6km isn't easy! Just inhuman how they maintain sub 3:00/km for entire marathons.

At 5:32 he shows a list of the top ten American marathoners. However Elkanah Kibet, who is another American marathoner ran a time of 2:09:07 which should put hom on the bottom of this list instead of Meb Keflezighi. Not a big deal but still significant to be top ten for Kibet.

The depth of Kenyan Marathoners is just phenomenal. We can now safely conclude that a major marathon without the fastest Kenyan runners is not a marathon worth its salt. Congrats Boston Marathon and kudos to the winners,(mostly Kenyans BTW) who almost made a clean sweep of the top 3 slots in both men and women races with the exception of the Ethiopian.

@@mathieudube6907 Birhanu Legese according to world rankings. But I think that is debatable. Boston is not an easy course. However,the Olympics and the World marathon are the best places to witness these runners in action. I'm my opinion, it is only Kipchoge's No.1 ranking that cannot be contested..

I qualified and ran Boston in '82.(Was way too hot, but I finished.). I notice the professional mens and especially professional women competitors have become more speed/endurance - oriented and I think(the professional women) have a more competitive edge when they competed in 2022's BostonMarathon.

No sane person would attempt to contest 6 marathon majors in a single calender year assuming they would run flat out for all of them. Professionals tend to only race 2 or 3 marathons a year at the most and kipchoge is no different. It has been noted kipchoge would try the feat and win all 6 in the next year or 2 with ny and boston left

he said he wants to run all six abbott marathon majors before his career is over, not all in one year (that just leaves Boston and NY btw). it takes professional marathon runners months to prepare for a race. No way he would compete here so soon after Tokyo.

There were some great Ethiopian runners (Birhanu Legese, Sisay Lemma, Lemi Berhanu, Lelisa Desisa, Kinde Atanaw, etc.) competing on the men's side but none of them finished with a fast time. I wonder why.

I think the Kenyans have perfected the technique of surges. The race is just a matter of cruising mixed in with surges. That's why the Kenyans are always winning. Better training and technique.
