I have the same spec on my 5010. I love it so far. It climbs pretty well as surprised me going down hill. Its eats up technical and rutted descents like it was a longer travel bike. This ones a keeper for sure
Hi James. I am considering biting the bullet on a 2022 Santa Cruz 5010 C with the R build. Before I do, I would like to know how this bike will handle east coast/New England trails? Does it sacrifice climbing efficiency for downhill capabilities? Thanks!
Just bought my son one for christmas didn't want the mullet of the new Bronson and 140 front travel is plenty for trails and jumps .... hopefully he will compete in his first race next year so watch this space
Did you give it to him yet or waiting for Xmas? I definitely would NOT be able to keep it a secret from my son knowing it was hiding somewhere just waiting for him! haha
@@KevalShah8 yeah he got it last week and loves it ... he hasn't had anything for two years for christmas or birthdays and has sold 2 bikes yo help fund it .... absolutely loves it .
The 5010 is like a golf GTI, higher price but less quality, those brakes and transmision, much heavier than previous models, 35 mm cockpit... If you want a 130mm trail bike you need something balanced, IMO not worth it at all.
Doesn't even have internal storage. Pass. jk but sorta not really. I don't have internal storage on my current bike but that's a important feature I want on my next one. Maybe I'll find it's overrated. But for now, I'm really looking forward to it.
@@Jamesthebikeguy last year I checked with our LBS they had a wait time of 5 months. Not sure if the wait time has improved. I live in the Philippines so maybe it’ll be a while.
The cost is ridiculous. And it's a prime reason why there exists only a single bikeshop, near my hometown, for a seventy-mile radius. No hard-working American, is gonna shell-out a few grand for a bicycle. Especially carbon, which has a tendency to fail with heavy riders. Then ya have to consider the cost of those components. "Oh. So happy to have a new bike!" Then a year later, ya discover the crankset, derailleur, cassette, chain, and probably shock, is gonna be more than the original bike price. It's insanity. Especially when brands are making an eight-hundreed percent profit, on those cheap carbon frames, processed in China, at the very same facility all carbon frames for all brands are manufactured. And not a single video on RU-vid, discusses these inevitable costs. Of course if ya can find the sense to shell-out a few grand, for a bike, ya don't care about component costs.
I'm quite certain I did not say Tonka truck like it's a bad thing. More specifically reminiscing of the days in the sandbox as a child, having grown up in the period where Tonka toys were very popular
I have 4-piston G2 Ultimates on my Epic EVO 110mm travel XC bike. I was surprised Specialized configured it that way too, but they are actually pretty light.
@@giganigge4.142 nothing to be confused of, it just boils down to what you want, 27.5" or 29", or colour, or sizes available. Mega, High, 5010 can do just about anything MTB related
0:22 so for the price of this BICYCLE I can get a huge selection of used cars, new scooters/mopeds and even a 250cc dirt bike. You would need to be insane or stupidly rich to buy one of these as a fun weekend thing, this is something a normal person would never justify getting even if a bike is their only mode of transportation.
Hi I'm a normal person I just spent 4600 on a used bike its now the bike I have, only ride once a week, its worth the money, if you can't afford one you don't need to hate on them
If you're rich, go for it, who cares. If you're not rich and you have to save up a bunch but you really want this bike, why not. I don't think it's insane to spend money on a hobby that you're passionate about. If a bike like this makes you feel good then it's "worth it". No need to justify anything. Why would you have to justify buying it? Who cares? It's your own money. You don't "need" a bike like this, but you don't "need" to go out in the mountains and ride your bike, you do it because you like/love it. And of course there are even more expensive hobbies out there that "not rich" people do as well like modifying cars. Are those guys all insane? Not really IMO.
@@GrantMtb well I don't hate the bikes themselves, I hate that they charge over 5k for something that can be made and sold for much less. Sure carbon is expensive but it's not THAT expensive.
I agree to a point I like mtb but the prices are getting stupid & there is not $6000 worth of technology to justify the price & they want you to pay in full & wait 12 months crazy times.
