Guess you answered your on question there my MTB friend.on the serious side I have a Fuel EX and friend has a top Fuel. Top Fuel I a little more XC with smaller faster tires and wheels. Less travel front and rear however a super fast rolling bike you really don’t need to upgrade imo. Beautiful Trek paint and detail really makes it pop! Awesome bike!

Hey James, curious how this actually compares to the FUEL EX. This almost seems like a Fuel EX "lite" now that the geo is so close. I have a 2021 EX 9.9 which is the same as the 22 and all I can see between the two is a weight difference of 2lbs
@parsnips800

Trek,at last, using threaded b/b's. Being in the UK with epic winter mud and generally awful weather, having a threaded b/b is a must. I have a 2018 fuel ex 8 which is a great bike but the pressfit b/b lasted a couple of (winter) months.

Simple my inquisitive friend, if it’s wet out take one of your other bikes or a current buddy’s bike and save on your beautiful bike for a nicer dry day. I’m sure he would love for you to experience what he already knows.

What is the weight of the 2022 EX? Would be an interesting comparison.
@shwndh
@shwndh 2 года назад
I would love to see a breakdown on where all the weight is coming from. Is it the wheels and tires or the frame? 32lb bike with 120mm of travel is quite heavy. If it's just a more durable frame, I can live with that being a clyde myself. But I would want a race day set of wheels and tires for this thing.
@oldmanjeepingandbiking9621
@oldmanjeepingandbiking9621 2 года назад
Wow that ended up being heavy for a XC bike. my 2016 Fuel EX(which was 120mm/120mm) was 26 1/2 with pedals. Granted it was a 9.8 so it had a mostly carbon frame, but all that weight can't be in the frame alone.
@oldmanjeepingandbiking9621

Now that I think about it, my 2019 Full Stache, an aluminum framed 29+ 130mm/130mm bike is 32 lbs with pedals

The Top fuel 8 is now heavier then a fuel ex 8 2021.I have the 2021 TF8 and very happy with it.I have 2 wheelsets 1 light with xc tires and one with wide trail tires.I can ride xc, Marathons and heavy trails.Happy with the fork now but can always upgrade with SID 35 120mm or Fox sc 34 120mm.I think Trek goes wrong with this 2022 model.Big gap between the supercaliber and the Top Fuel now.Maybe the new supercaliber will be more aggressiver.

You can think the shipping costs. I was recently part of a discussion where I found out that to get bikes off containers in a timely fashion is adding over $300 of cost just to shipping to get it done in a short period of time. These poor bike brands are paying a ton of money every step of the way just to bring the bikes over, and therefore we as customers are seeing higher prices

No remote lockouts is a big miss in downcountry, also the weight is not really light!
@Jamesthebikeguy
@Jamesthebikeguy 2 года назад
With down country bikes basically being previous gen trail bikes, not surprised at their choices. The remote lockout seems a little unnecessary, but I do wish it was a bit lighter. Having the frame storage on an aluminum frame no doubt increases the weight
