It just boggles my mind how Elon keeps track of all this crap. He has established so many companies pretty much at the same time. Other companies struggle to get just ONE plant up and running whereas Elon has Spacex, Boring, and also his battery plants. And then there is all the solar stuff and the huge storage mediums. HE most certainly is a huge talent. He makes Henry Ford look like an upstart. Damn.

The Giga Berlin roof is more "crowded" comparing to the Austin one, but the main component that makes the difference are the windows. So you are sacrificing some space for solar panels but on the same time you are getting much more natural light on the inside (reducing costs of illumination energy consumption and making healthier the workspace too). So personally I prefer the benefits of the natural light. For example Giga Nevada is almost opaque on walls and roof and I don't think that's healthy neither for being sooo much hours inside as workers have to... What do you think about that? ☀️

You're correct it isn't too healthy as it sounds. There are technologies to help "transport" solar light inside a closed off area. It's been a long while since I heard anything about them though.

I have a few fiberglass windows in my shop roof. It took years for me to leave the building without attempting to turn off the lights. Lights that were off. Think of the skylights as effective but specific solar panels.

Check out recent videos by Wolfpack. Contractors are fitting solar to the roof in Berlin, and unlike in Austin, where they are all currently positioned to catch the afternoon sun, those in Berlin are double ranked to catch both morning and evening sun.

This is a GREAT video! And whoever is in charge of recording this voiceover sure has a lot of work that they're doing and they accomplish it quite well (and that's a lot of text!) That said, I have really only one pretty big problem (it's probably not most people's issue) ... Sorry, I gave it to outs but then when I kept hearing him say "productivity" pronounced like "PRAW-ductivity" instead of what I understand to be the correct "PROH-ductivity," I felt that I should mention it. Mainly because it probably will be spoken again in future videos and at least I feel sounds so much better spoken correctly :-) (and if I'm wrong about the pronunciation or it can be corrected both ways, then I stand corrected :-)

"Productivity" is one of those words that can be pronounced either way, definitely. The pronunciation of it varies depending on location. For some people, pronouncing it "proh" would even seem strange and wrong. ☺

We had railroad tracks inside our factory . The train used to back up in the factory and drop off railroad cars inside the factory so we can get goods off of them . Battery pack goods inside the cars before they left for recycling .

Austin is 30 degrees north latitude while Berlin is 50 degrees. Berlin receives much less incident solar energy.

Wonder why the roofs of the two factories are so different. I'm sure they could just mount the panels on brackets they don't have to be flush on the roof.

Indonesia makes massive sense. I made this proposal several times in the last three years. It is a very populous nation (273 million) with an upwardly mobile population and well situated in SE Asia for export too. Currently it is a big motorcycle market, so an excellent place to build the new C segment car (model Z or Q) for both domestic and export markets. Low labour costs and proximity to the Australian market too!

Solar panels are much more effective in Texas than Berlin, so it makes sense to deploy them there first.

The first company that ought to use Tesla semi trucks is... Tesla, to transport supplies and the completed cars. Then fill their outstanding orders. Then redesign the semi. If it has no driver, it doesn't need a cab. That's a big change in design. I also expect the connection between the tractor and the trailer, it ought to have the ability to straighten out the truck when it loses traction in a jackknife situation. A tractor might become small enough it can resemble a truck on a train car (the 4 wheel unit at the front and back of the car). In fact, having a "truck" like this at the front and rear of a container might eliminate the need for wheels on the trailer, so they just use containers with no wheels and the "trucks" fit on the front and back of the container, so the rear can turn as easily as the front, cutting the turning radius in half.

The trust Elon must have in his individual company bosses must be 100%. Elon's mental capacity also must be way up there. I can't imagine what it would take to manage all this growth and I have not even looked at the space component of his assets. I admire this man so much I just wish he would stay off twitter arguing with fools of the democratic party. He does himself no favours doing that.

Elon has said before, the problem with extreme ramp up is not just having more factories but mines and the (green, sustainable and humane) infrastructure required to process ores ...and then the supply chain! And all this depends not just on physical constraints or economic factors but political climate!! And the political climate is very dicy all over the world at the moment. How much can one man do!

@@alanmay7929 it is simple equation of which of the options they should do Suppose they can make a 1000 cars of one kind when the demand is for 2000 cars, should they dilute their production to make only 600 of one kind, 200 of a second kind and another 200 of a third? Specially if the profit margin is less in the second and third variety? So, sure they need to make many more models, but today their problem is there is a huge demand for what they are making and the waiting time is over 1 year! So for them, they are not able to make, whatever they are now making, fast enough so they need more factories!

What makes you say? Once they get a factory up and running, they seem to be outputting a tremendous number of vehicles. There will always be a "tuning" phase for each production line as they work out kinks, so I would expect there to be a natural ramp up of production.

Why no solar panels in the Berlin plant? Have you ever lived in Berlin? Lots of cloud cover. Solar would not make sense there.

Unless something goes horribly wrong 2022 is going to be interesting and eye opening for the entire auto industry and Tesla will make a major impact, not just in EV sales but total car sales. As for 2023 that's going to be the holy $#!t year for the industry and when Tesla shows what it can do.

The IGM is the strongest union in Germany and the ICE vehicle manufacturers are well organised. Tesla should find a solution with the union, otherwise it will be difficult to get enough skilled workers who are currently working in good positions

Do you watch other EV channels and if so can you do a one off video about your opinions on some of theses RU-vidrs, eg future tech channel and fully charged and would you be able to research into Uk laws and finance options for the Uk audience for Tesla as we don’t have a giga factory but Berlin like Europe drive like China and US on the left of the car and right side of the road but Uk doesn’t and does this effect our out out of vehicles. Great question! That's what I was wondering too. There was even a very brief picture of the Sparks Nevada factory in the summary (because it looks cool?), but not addressed at all in the commentary. A long time ago there was mention that Tesla might be producing the Cybertruck there.

After watching this video I personally think that Tesla should take over the EV industry completely and there should be a standard fast changer installed all across the USA with the assurance to the government that they will make an affordable car for every American otherwise other manufacturers are allowed to compete. When Microsoft can monopolize the computer industry and Amazon is trying to dominate the online business then what’s wrong with letting Tesla do it since they are the best in EVs manufacturing and the only dedicated EV manufacturer.

I thought that way in the beginning. How could the US be the source of corona virus? Now it is pretty clear that Fauci with the NIH started "gain of function" research in the US and hit roadblocks. It was at that point they pivoted to China to carry out continued research. I am head of regulatory and quality for a vaccine company.
