Happy New Year everyone! Hope you all had a fun and festive weekend! We're kicking the year off with a car we haven't driven in a couple years. Its aging gracefully, but still one of the best driving SUV's out there! Tomorrow, we had out to Las Vegas for CES so expect lots of coverage from this year's show! Hope you all have a great rest of your week!
Good video but I really wish you wouldn’t discuss reliability unless you have facts. You’re basing this opinion on vehicles of 30+ years ago and without the backing of a major manufacturer like FCA. You can’t compare ANY vehicles reliability to what it was 30+ years ago. I had a 2017 Giulia 2.0T with 127,000 miles on it. NO concerns whatsoever the entire time I had it. I traded it in for a 2023 stelvio estrema (identical to the one in this video) and have put 12,000 miles on it already, again with zero issues of any kind. Just like any modern car, take care of it, do required regular maintenance and the vehicle will last. I really wish RU-vidrs and people with zero personal experience with these vehicles would stop with the reliability concerns. This out of date thought is why people don’t buy them and will never enjoy how amazing these vehicles truly are.
Stelvio 2.0 owner here. I really wish Alfa offered some midrange engine choices. I love mine but that power is so addictive I wish there was another option short of the QV so I could get even more speeding tickets. my infotainment system isn’t laggy but I really don’t want to use it like other people do. I just want it to play my phone or sports radio and not beep and talk at me ever.
Love your review Sofyan, but why do you keep comparing the 4 cyl 280 hp base Stelvio to the $100,000 500 hp Quadrifogglio? Two different class of vehicles obviously.
I really want Alfa Romeo to succeed in North America. I was reading that their sales numbers are down. One thing I noticed is Alpha does very little advertising. Because I never see TV ads or anything for Alpha. And so because of this I believe that a lot of people don't even know that Alpha is here. Alpha really needs to get heavy into the advertising and stuff. They need to make their presence known. Because I can tell you for a fact not enough people or not a lot of people even know that they're in Canada or the US. This is going to be crucial for them. And it's going to make them or it's going to break them
only if they added another engine option for this model, would've helped sales a bit more. otherwise, you can grab a 2020-2021 at a fair price without missing out on certain features but will learn more towards a 2020 since you get a full red interior compared to the 2021+ models which only get a seat color change if you chose red. got a 2020 giulia ti sport carbon with 45k miles second hand and not one issue so far, rarely beat on it but the stigma around if they're reliable, would say fairly so IF you baby it. every brand has their duds but hey, so far so good.
I have a 2019 stelvio ti sport that I love, but I too wish they had something in-between mine and a QV. I've been tossing around switching to a QV. Lol
I love my Giulia, just wish Alfa had a better network, especially service network. Merging with Stellantis just made a huge mess. Hope they don't ditch the Giorgio platform,it's perfect
Platform should of stayed in Europe 🤷🏾♂️, seen them all over south fl for a short time span, and poof rarely see them. $50k vehicle drops to $30k in just 30k miles...no bueno.
I live in Northern Nevada with a population of almost 400k. Nearest dealer is 165 miles away--over the snowbound Sierras. I'd never own one based just on this, even though I like the brand
It was always kind of a chintzy claim anyway considering it doesn’t have the mid-range engines everyone else has, though it’s still faster than the 2.5 GV70
@@chrischo1996 Interesting. I’ve seen various numbers on both that are pretty varied, but seem to trend toward the Stelvio being a tik faster, but I haven’t seen a direct comparison, and only driven the Stelvio so far.
@@williamegler8771 actually smart ass, you should check Alfa owners. These cars are actually **RELIABLE **. 🤭. Very few owners regret their purchase. This is NOT 1929 sir.
I’ve owned a Misano Blue Sport Ti Nero Edition since 2020. I’ve never had issues with it. I drive it everywhere and I absolutely love it. The driving dynamics are Porsche-like. However, the infotainment system is a disgrace. And the car has not being updated since its introduction around 2018.
Leased one of these for the wife the 2nd year they were on the market in an attempt to avoid 1st year bugs and that thing lived at the dealer. Usually for minor defects that only required a day or two to rectify, but it did have two occasions where the electrical bugs affected drivability. The wife liked it overall and I enjoyed looking at it in the garage but the overall appeal faded fairly quickly for me. Traded it in last year for a Lincoln Aviator since she wanted more space for our kids but if I'd gotten the Quadrifoglio version for her originally I'd likely have sold my old BMW and just bought it out from the lease after purchasing an extended warranty lol.
Exterior is the best…interior is dated. Need to offer vented seats and wireless CarPlay. Dash should be updated like the new upcoming Alfa models. Power boost is needed for this top spec trim. Limited interior color (black). LED lighting for headlights please.
corrections: It won’t auto up shift with the gear selector in manual mode. Redline is a touch over 6,000 it’s just the tach has graduated markings as you approach fuel cutoff. The incredible chassis, sport seats, paddles and limited slip are what set the Alfa 4 cylinder models apart. I agree estreema needs a power bump to justify price. Pre-owned Alfas are a bargain. I love my Giulia, the only real con is the dealer network and routine maintenance prices are high.
Everyone complains about the price but you can get this car for 55k msrp while the Quadrifoglio costs lot more, 85k. It is still better than a 68k Mercedes GLE
In 2023, Alfa is still using HID in the headlights.. While I understand, numbers aren't everything? More power would have been nice. Especially since they are giving it a "New" Package name. Analog gauges too, which by this time, should have been updated to digital. I understand standing out from the crowd is always a plus, but Not when the interior is still as old as the old 2018 model. Other than that, Great Review, Sofyan.
@@Kiss__Kiss that’s strange, as the “Estrema” model in Italy was only a special final edition of the pre-refreshed Stelvio, while in the US it is a new trim level but with the older front bumper with HIDs…
I noticed this actually strange factor that in a market that is certainly not secondary such as the USA there is a habit of simplifying the set-ups compared to other markets such as the European one for example... Just Stelvio, as already mentioned, here in Europe provides fully digital instrumentation (such as Tonale/Hornet) and full-LED Matrix headlights and more... Greetings from the Italian peninsula (Calabria region)! Ciao!
Just watching this as it popped up in my recommended. Instantly came to see if someone else saw as well. Attention to detail might have slipped a bit lol
Got a 2020 Giulia with 80K miles on it. Bought it new and never had any problems. Most people that say the car is bad never owned it or just speaking of what they heard from others which is gossip!
@@aritruths1452 Agree 100%...people like to jump on the bandwagon with no owner experience to back it up. Not saying they can't have problems but my neighbor also has a 2020 and loves it. Traded his Evoque which he said was a a nightmare...has had zero problems with his Stelvio. I think he has 53k miles on it
People talk crap even about Subaru, Lexus or Nissan reliability, the truth is that people like to spend money on weeds, gambling and they don’t service their cars and then they go out there hating people enjoying their perfectly working brand new luxury cars.
So happy I chose the Genesis GV70 2.5 advantage a few weeks ago. I drove a Stelvio when it first came out, drive and looks are great but at the price, reliability and no ventilated seats / laggy infotainment !! there are much better choices in this sector
My thoughts as well. Alpha is known for being junk that breaks down and they want customers to drop $60K on this which doesn't have any wow factor to it? Why in the world would I buy this car over a big name? Big miss from them.
@@naveenthemachine He's not wrong. If it isn't a Quadrifoglio then there's really nothing redeeming about the lesser trims of this model. This is very near bottom of the class.
@@italianmaestro3045 those are the explosive ones that only rich people buy. Middle class to upper class buy Maserati and Alfa Romeo but testimony’s from those people prove these cars are POS. And fiat is literally shit that’s why they pulled out of the United States
@@italianmaestro3045 How come men go to Nudies Bars and spend vast some of money, if they're not going to marry them???(even you can't be that stupid?)
Too much emphasis is put on high-tech technology, yet shity engines and reliability. The touch screen doesn't give you better mileage. It's a 4 wheel vehicle, not a spaceship. Wake-up people. To much bs tech.
The front has always been ugly for me! And that dull screen is ridiculously old resolution! For that price it definitely needs and upgrade. But it doesn’t sell well in the states so might not last to much longer
@@timsouttahereNo. I’m sure those people who say quality sucks have never owned one. I have a Stelvio Quad. Build quality is excellent. No rattles or squeaks. Body panels align perfectly. Maintenance is high but you know that going in on an Italian vehicle.
got 80k on mines bought it brand new and not a single issue with the car. Stop talking about things you don't own or no about. Thats just gossip and messy talk!
@@aritruths1452 lovely. I will be buying mine as a college graduation gift. Do you recommend warranty?? This is a dream that will come true for me, I am determined to make it happen. My dream car❤
Not enough power. Nice looking outside and in but that junk engine is a dealbreaker and it only gets 26mpgs?! Also the laggy nav screen looks frustrating and it's annoying that the wireless charger didn't take into account the larger phones nowadays. Base price $60k? No thanks, I'll stick with the big names without alpha offering us something stunning. This isn't it.
@@naveenthemachine Not for $60k+ from a 3rd class automobile maker. They want Americans to pony up that kind of cash for this? I can buy a burn the wheels off electric kia ev6 or a gv70 or a "insert model here", all of which are a worlds better choice than alpha.
Looks like a good choose if you want something different and you have the money to burn, but I think Alfa is a dying brand and this car is a styling exercise and not much else
They came here with 2 cars and still have two cars and are adding more. Failing how ? It’s not a stale boring Toyota so it doesn’t need to sale 500k units a year. Failing how ?
That car is just a no from all angles. This car has looked the same for YEARS. And you can get better looking and better overall cars from other car makers.
