I’m Irish. I don’t even celebrate Thanksgiving. And yet I’ve watched the previous Home Movies numerous times and this new video has made my evening! ❤ I’ve opted not to watch the new episode of the series I’m watching so I can enjoy this instead. You’re a queen, Alison 👸
I squealed when I saw this video come through. After my mother passed in 2020, I became in charge of Thanksgiving dinner and you have single-handedly carried me through. Thank you thank you thank you. 💙
Now THIS is the Alison we all love so COT-DAM much. Her assessment of cranberries and their practically non-existent juice is PEAK ALISON and I am here for it.
Every second of this was delightful, the editing was superb, no notes, the round stuffing was transformational, the earring drop was character development par excellence. 10/10
I'm French, we don't celebrate Thanksgiving but I never miss this. This was prime time television (58 mins long??) and I literally watched it eating popcorn. I laughed, laughed and laughed some more. Such fine-art-deco-Paris humour. Also Alison is glowing! we love to see it.
I know this is just a RU-vid comment but honestly just have to say how much I enjoy these. Been watching for years and after rewatching so many videos while sick or needing a pick me up I was thrilled that it was alison thanksgiving day! Thank you for the work and the making and creating. It’s good for the world. ❤
Who's here just for Allison? Im from India, we don't celebrate Thanksgiving AND I'm vegetarian 😂... Still watching it every year.. it has become my tradition.. also happy thanksgiving to everyone celebritting in north America. Happy turkey day 🦃
I hate to admit but I think I've watched the other Thanksgiving videos and unhealthy amount of times lol 😂😂 I think I could recite every funny line!! But it is my zen time when I'm cooking or when I'm working on the computer for my job. It's just something in the background, so i'm so excited to watch this new one!! Already love the idea of Turkey legs 🍗!!! Ok, back to the video 🙃
You're back! I have been watching the archives to keep me company in this barrenness of no new Home Movies. Welcome back! Your wedding photos/article on Vogue is everything, btw. What an awesome time of life for you.
I was crushed yesterday when this got pushed back to today but waking up I was like YESSSSSSS....Its THANKSGIVING Home Movies Day!!!! Thank you Alison and congrats on the wedding :)
I made the turkey for a Friendsgiving dinner last night and, OMG, people LOVED it. I actually couldn't find hindquarters so I broke down a whole turkey. The wings, thighs, and legs came out fantastic - the breast was okay but it did improve as it sat. When I took the covers off at the two hour mark - I cooked the breast separately - the breast already had an internal temp way above what I wanted so 1. I didn't brown the skin; and 2. I think 1.5 hours at the most cooking time suffices. But, it's the brown meat and the wings that really shine with this recipe!!!
@@shadenalmomani3001 2 hours covered and then just over an hour uncovered (I cooked the legs uncovered a bit longer to brown them more since it's nearly impossible to overcook dark meat)
This is very too much but this video made me so happy - my grandma is currently in hospital at the end of her life and this video made me smile and reassured me that, after she’s gone, I can feed my family and keep them warm and looked after and happy
I used to watch you when I stayed over at my Boyfriend's. Your videos brought us so much joy and we always loved watching them together while cooking and eating. He used to love cooking your Bean Stew, thank you so much for all the great memories Alison.
I would absolutely watch David, Dan, and Alison just comment on anything. I think reaction videos are sometimes cringe but David Dan and Alison are like the holy trinity of comments/banter/jokes.
I wait with anticipation every year for these videos. I cook a thanksgiving feast yearly and LOVE it. Alison gives me new ideas to consider, and I just thoroughly enjoy the witty banter and straight forward nature of how she approaches this feast.
I made your maple syrup tart/pie for my kid and all her college friends and it was soooooo good. They ate the leftovers for breakfast. It was super easy to make too. Thank you ❤
I make pumpkin pie for myself like 4 times a year. I love that we can do whatever we want in our own kitchen 🥰lol. This episode is 🔥fkn awesome, even if you don't like pumpkin pie 😉
I WANT TO CRY TEARS OF JOY BUT IM IN THE WORKPLACE SO I MUST REMAIN CALM AND PROFESSIONAL. I love you Alison, it’s the most wonderful time of the year!!!!!!!!💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
She really killed it! And she used two of my favorite ingredients: leeks, and sherry vinegar. She did a great job making turkey desirable for me, which is almost never.
FOR REFERENCE. Alison saying "Sandraaa Bullllock" played in my mind the second she said "It's been exactly three hours" 😂 The reference will never be lost on me! Annnd, I am making your thanksgiving for my family this year ❤🎉
First of all, you look, absolutely gorgeous! And, of course, congratulations on getting married! You bring so much joy to this planet it’s surreal! Thank you 🙏
Not a children hater, but the notion of an adult Thanksgiving is so refreshing. In most cultures, the kids eat what the adults eat. Not everyone likes everything! Great job, Alison!
i love seeing heléne at the thanksgiving party after listening to the pod! and love how grimy her wine glass is LOL she was not lying about eating those green beans w her fingers. luv her luv it
I have not been able to buy turkey legs or separate cuts of turkey of any kind (like turkey breasts😢, thighs, drumsticks, wings…none of it) for quite a few years. My husband and I used to buy them regularly all year. We cooked them on a gas grill with wood smoke with a lid that essentially creates the oven environment that cooks them best! Only with wood smoke. What happened to the turkey parts? Probably you can get those if you live in a major city, especially NYC, like Alison, where there are butcher shops, bakeries, delis, fish markets around every corner. But where I live, in NorCal, there are no butchers, there’s just chain supermarkets, and they don’t have butchers in the back cutting up cuts of meat like they used to (they do some very limited butchering) nor grinding up ground meats. Ground meats generally come in a vacuum sealed , compressed block that’s impossible to make meatballs and burgers with keeping the meat from being too dense. It’s a new world! I’m so disappointed!
I have truly never loved Alison more than during the ongoing mashed potatoes saga here! Every year my SIL storms into the kitchen to make her "baby food" version as I'm preparing everything else for 30 people, including my "sexy" chunky mash, but you can't please them all! Thank you for your validation, I'll be channeling your chill when she inevitably storms in again this year!
Usually enough for her, my brother, their kids, plus a couple extra helpings. Definitely not enough to feed 30+! She does always bring an apple pie, though, thankfully already made;-)
it is midnight after a long day. i started watching this on my lunch break and could not resume until now. i have resumed. sleep can come after lolol xoxo
I am from Germany, so I don't celebrate Thanksgiving, but I love these videos. They are my comfort watch and I watch them again and again throughout the year. Thank you so much.
"This turkey is vega...ummm no" bahahaha dying. Thank you for being the best part of my Thanksgiving every year. I wait for this video all year and will rewatch the previous years multiples times a year hahaj
I'm ecuadorian and we do not celebtate Thanksgiving........since I came across Allison I simply fell in love with her and absolutely love all her home videos, learning all your tips!°°
This Thanksgiving video is terrific! Loved every dish. Have you noticed that Alison always looks great in her clothes? I admire that as much as I enjoy her cooking😊
Allison, MY FAVORITE line from your first filmed Thanksgiving was a huge takeaway for me for Thanksgiving and in life..."Don't tell anyone anything!!!" Sooo funny yet true!
“Bad Girls Club” 😂 that kills me. I have 2 sisters and we’re each a year apart so we grew up as best friends. When we were teens we called our 3 some the “Cool Girls Club” as kind of a funny troll / joking not joking. “Bad girls club” just brought me back. I love it. ❤
Smoked turkey necks are a delicious and underappreciated part of the turkey! I come from a Black American cooking tradition, so we put smoked turkey necks in collards or snap peas and it is AMAZING. So flavorful and tender, highly recommend nixing the white meat and just using necks, thighs and legs!
The absolute BEST!!!! I would’ve had 17 meltdowns, but you kept it so cool! Hats off!! Everything looks SO delicious, and I love that you put your own twist on things based on what you like to eat regularly!! It’s hard to do that with family sometimes! Anyway… Congrats on getting married!! Your videos are a highlight for me!! ♥️
The fact that Alison scrapes her teeth on the tasting spoon makes me feel so much better about any time anyone has yelled at me for doing exactly that.
Wow this was just glorious. I love Mike Wooten and him saying "friends" when asked about his favorite part of Thanksgiving and Alison was like "no, what was your fav food" hahaha. Also Helene making an appearance - a queen! This video was so calming and I see the growth Alison and I'm here to support you every step of the way girlie!!!!
I think the Beach Boys said it, "I get around, I get around....". I am absolutely positive that they were thinking of turkey dressing/stuffing. We have always known that pie are round, not square, and now stuffing/dressing has an equivalent identity. Happy Thanksgiving and thanks for sharing your insane littel corner of the world.
@@davidcho0828 Definitely making most of these dishes. My top 4 ranking 1) Turkey legs (less daunting than a whole turkey) 2) Stuffing (first time making and totally in a round dish 🙂) 3) Salad (something fresh and acidic to offset the rest) 4) Smashed potato gratin (love the rustic no fuss approach)
You have been so missed! I have had my fingers…er turkey legs crossed that you would enlighten us with a thanksgiving home movie and here it is. I am ever grateful 🧡 #pregravy #roundstuffing
oh wow….this was such a great watch! i didn’t think i’ll get through almost an hour of content without my crippling ADHD distracting me. Yet, I did. I think I should do & learn more cooking, maybe it’ll bring me peace. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Alison, you are the archangel of Thanksgiving cooking! I am still swooning over your composed stuffing from last year. It was the best stuffing I have ever eaten. This years cut up turkey looks brilliant! I’m inspired!
Loved this so much! I am going to watch the whole thing again. Alison, you keep doing it all your way cause it's the best! Thanks also to David & Dan for the side commentary - & yes, the chunky potatoes rule & that round stuffing dish is wonderful. Also Alison your dad is a good sort! Happy thanksgiving to all in the USA - best wishes from Sydney Australia
