as a lifelong O's fan (you know how it goes, Baltimorean parents and all) I'm cracking up that one of the weird things about 2023 is that the orioles are doing good

I really liked this format of video from you as someone who only casually follows baseball. I had missed a lot of these storylines. If you were thinking of doing a few of these throughout the season that would be killer

The best part about the A’s saga is they refused to take care of the feral cats because they controlled the rampant rat and mouse problem. Lol.

I think the Phillies dollar hot dog night is the best example of why we love baseball, sure the game is great and fun to watch, but things like dollar hot dog night devolving into chaos like that would never happen in any other sport

Life-long Phils fan here. DDN is like our homecoming game. It's a big party where we just drink too much and eat hotdogs all game. As you might expect, the parking lots are rife with vomiting fans after the game.

i got to see bryce harper play as a kid when he played for my brother's travel ball team back in the early 2000s. He was absolutely amazing. Even me as a child, all the coaches, parents, knew that he was gonna make it to the league. He was unbelievable. He used to play catcher and would make these insane one knee throws to second to catch the runner stealing as a 10 year old. He was amazing.

Your channel and MLB the Show 22 and 23 made me fall in love with baseball in a way I never thought I would. Always dogged on it and called it a boring sport but you're coverage of it is amazing and exciting. Good on ya mate!

I am a die hard Cardinals fan and to say this season has been a disappointment is an understatement. They’ve started to get better but the holes in the team still show pretty badly at times. We desperately need new pitchers.

I was there for the May 9th dollar dog wave. It was truly one of the moments in sports history.

the pickoff limit makes sense because of the pitch clock. when a pitcher picks off or steps off the clock resets. so pitchers could just keep picking off/stepping off, making the pitch clock pointless. same rule with the hitter, they only get one timeout per at bat, to avoid them from resetting the pitch clock

So baseball has been a sport I’ve never really given a chance a fair chance. Like most kids I played T Ball and some coach-pitch, but I was just terrible and didn’t understand the game / didn’t have the motivation to learn. I, of course, got into the other big American sports, but as I matured baseball began to pique my interest since my dad has always talked about how nuanced of game it is. But because it’s a rather subtle game I’ve had a hard time finding an Avenue into the game, but BDE is seriously becoming that avenue. These videos have opened my eyes to the hilariously beautiful culture of baseball. Coming from watching the NBA or NFL, the atmosphere BDE paint’s in these videos is such a big breath of fresh air. You’ve got weirdo’s, hotheads, great storylines, a rich history, passionate fans… there’s just so much to love and the culture around the game is distinctly unique compared to other team based sports. I hope to start to really pick up the rules / depth of the game and start watching here soon, but I just wanted to share and thank you BDE for you great and easily-watchable videos!

i'm one of the employees at citizen's bank park and it's really cool to know that the phillies dollar dog nights were that successful. working those nights was absolutely insane, i'm one of the supervisors and i ended up rolling hotdogs nonstop for like two hours

As a dodgers fan, it’s kind of sad to see Bumgarner washed, dude was a really good pitcher once upon a time, his attitude was the best part of the giants dodgers rivalry. Funny and competitive at the same time. Nothing but respect to the competition but damn bro.

I know Bryce doesn't make it easy to love him but if people really cared about what they say they care about which is "toughness" and "dedication" than he should be one of the most beloved players in sports.

Between the Braves making a major opening to the beginning of the season, Phillies dollar dog nights. Beef between Yanks and Jays, braves hat coming and being banned, no shift, etc. love it so far

I went to my first baseball game in a year tonight and my first since the rule changes. Mets vs Rays, 10 innings that flew by (in a good way), and a walk-off Mets win against the best team in baseball. It was legitimately amazing. I have not cared about baseball since probably 2010, and watching that game tonight has properly reignited my interest in the sport. I was smiling ear to ear that the game I grew up with was finally back - small ball, strategy, stealing bases. I was watching that pitch clock just like I would in an NFL game pre-snap. I honestly can't properly express how much it means to me to be this interested again. MLB, bravo - you've regained a fan to a huge degree, and I suspect many others feel the same

The changes to the game are an overwhelming success. Until those changes inevitably will cause major controversy in post season games that actually matter.

The Baltimore Orioles now have a section at Camden Yards called the Splash Zone. Whenever an Orioles player hits a double or higher Mr Splash would spray water on to the fans sitting in the splash zone.

The 2023 baseball season has been FREAKING AWESOME! I love it! Yeah, there's always going to be some work to be done figuring out the nuances of new rules, how to implement them, and what needs to be changed, but on the whole, the changes that they've made have obviously impacted the games positively, IMO. Which is funny, because I was one of the curmudgeons complaining about the new rules and how awful they'd be. I freely admit that I was dead wrong. (Although there are still some things that need to get cleaned up within these changes.) And I love that there seems to be real excitement in MLB this year, too.

Loonie Dog Night in Toronto: a nice little promotion, for every Tuesday home game throughout the season. Dollar Dog Night in Philly: A military operation, requiring months of planning and preparation, extra security, extra capacity, and also the Hot Dog Cannon operated by the Phanatic.

As a Toronto man, I watch mainly the BlueJays and none of the games seem to be any shorter than last year. I went to Monday's Yanks vs Jays game and it was almost 3 hours. I timed the first game of the season for the Jays (against the Cardinals) it was 3 hours and 38 minutes long from the first pitch to the end of the final play, granted it ended (off the top of my head) 8-9 or 9-10. Other teams must be having really short game times or am I missing something? P.S. I love the pitch clock.

As an Angel's fan and Cardinals fan, this year is very confusing

Jays fan here, as much as division rivalries exist, it's a lot of fun seeing teams like the Rays and O's playing like absolute champs. Sometimes you get a good shake out of seeing some underdog teams just barreling in with no warning. It's fun for baseball as a whole, I think. Just like this video says, Jays are also a very highly paid roster, and they're not doing hot. It's definitely early, but it's been a really weird start to a season and it's been lowkey fun. I may have grown up near Toronto watching the Jays, but it's fun cheering for other teams when they break out of their long term funks and play some damn good baseball.

I have watched the Os my entire life and refused to leave them behind even when they were considered the worst team in the entirety of sports in 2018. Seeing them do well genuinely brings me joy and I will always be a Baltimore orioles fan. (If they move to Tennessee they gave up on me not the other way around but doubtful it will happen)
