I remember all these events happening throughout the year so far, but this compilation of them all at once hit me like a ton of bricks. What a wild season.
@@veritasinvicta8128 you think you have it tough now? Try being a Mets fan where every single year 1/2 the team gets hurt at one point or another ex. deGrom, Thor, Carassco, David Wright, Pete Alonso keeps getting hit by pitches, Starling Marte, the list continues
Nah, it's only going to get worse. Just more clown behavior and unlikable jerks acting like gods cause they hit a home run off a 4A pitcher in an 11-1 blowout. More overpaid has-beens under performing or getting injured and sucking up far too much money. More stupid rule changes, more billionaire owners alienating fans. 2023 won't be an outlier, it will be the "good old days"
Aaron Boone’s umpire mockery is my personal highlight of the year thus far…and I *attended* a game where the Red Sox won via grand slam walk off. That’s how hilarious that particular incident was.
The A's are further proof why american sports teams need to start being partially publicly owned. If the taxpayer pays for the stadium they should be entitled to a seat at the table of ownership.
@harryparsons2750 LOL do you know how many city owned baseball teams there are? Hundreds if not thousands. My local city of 250k alone has 4 youth baseball teams
@@harryparsons2750 Call it whatever you want, but my opinion is clear. The average American pays hundreds of millions of dollars to construct amazing infrastructure for these teams to thrive. But then at the drop of a hat some greedy suit and tie loser cant make the team pack up and skip town with no input from the people that built that team up in the first place. I believe this is INHERENTLY IMMORAL and a slap in the face to the common man.
As a Dodgers fan , I'm in support of you guys but I would like to see you A's fans win a World Series sometime in the near future but not too far into the future , guys should stay in Oakland but the Coliseum should go under a massive renovation to fix everything but I know the owner won't do that , Fisher reminds me of Snyder from Washington
As someone who has been a Guardians fan since birth (previously Indians) The Tim Anderson K.O was the greatest thing I've seen in years. Seeing the gross missed call of pushing on that tag. To later in the series him just getting K.O'ed was one of the funniest and craziest things ever! When he says that Jose is a folk hero in Cleveland he means it. The next day It was all people were talking about. I love baseball!
As a diehard angels fan this is the most soul crushing season of any sport I’ve ever witnessed, so much hope and potential just withered away as the season went on. The Seattle series was the nail the coffin. They just can’t compete at the level they need to
This video was outstanding. I haven't actively followed MLB for years, now, but after watching this, it's now the first season I feel like I've actually missed out on. Thanks for the great video.
Same feeling here. The way he tells the story makes it feel like the game has personality that I felt it's been lacking. I left baseball as a fan because it was just too stuffy, and the Astros cheating turned me off. The way he talks about things really makes it seem like its fun again!
i'm mostly not seeing it but your video gives me the impression i know something or other. thanks. i used to watch you long ago. you are still awe-inspiring.
A's fans don't deserve a single inch of that platform. They have neglected their team for years, not attended games, not bought merchandise, and only seem to show up when the team is already out the door and even then they act like petulant children throwing garbage, throwing tomatoes, and being ultra passive-aggressive by showing up in droves to games. They're like an abusive husband when his wife is about to leave him because those situations are never about actually being sorry for what they did-- it's just them freaking out at the idea of losing control. The Raiders left for similar reasons and, like them, I don't blame the As here.
@@j.menapace625If you actually went to a game you understand do not even start to judge because we have the worse stadium , we have a better mayor now but before she sucked, then the owners raised the price on concessions and rarely do giveaways and their management of the stadium is just straight up ghetto since our owners don’t even want to care so don’t even to begin saying we don’t have a good fanbase, if you saw the games 6 -10 years ago you’d understand but you won’t because you judge things to early
@@techwreck7613 Sure, blame everyone except yourselves. Classic abuser denial. The Cubbies had a terrible stadium, too-- not to mention the longest losing streak in sports-- and even then they still showed up to games in support of their team, which made their eventual World Series victory all the sweeter. A's fans don't have anything close to that level of compassion and are about as fair weather as it gets-- just like every other franchise in that area. The fans are absolutely the reason the team is leaving and their recent behavior only further validates the move.
@@techwreck7613 going to a Red Sox game is extremely expensive as well, yet when the Red Sox still had bad seasons, THE FANS STILL SHOWED UP! Sure blame the owner, but when your city council sat on their asses when the team asked for help and did nothing, it’s all the owners fault. Get over yourselves A’s fans are also to blame for never showing up. Oakland never deserved sports teams when San Francisco is less then 10 minutes away. God you Oakland fans crying crocodile tears is pissing me off, you helped cause this now your feeling the results.
I just recently found your channel and I became a sub immediately. I tend to just follow my Cubbies and the news/scores in the NL Central. MLB just has so many compelling stories all the damn time, that I tend to miss some of them. I havent missed a single thing since I became a sub. Cheers to your channel now and to it's growth in the future. Keep up the awesome work.
Reds fan here since I was a kid. So happy to finally see this team make a turn. Awesome to watch and finally have a superstar. Btw been watching you forever, you really know how to make a video my dude
I’m a Pirates fan and you didn’t even mention the absolutely PATHETIC coaching staff we have. We’re so irrelevant we didn’t even make it into this video lol. Started off 20-8 and ever since we’ve been as bad as the last 5-5 years. The misery continues!!
Probably because Pirates fans exist less than baseball. I was there a few months back when they were in first place and the stadium was maybe 1/4 full. Even the uber driver who took me to the game didn't know they were playing that day.
this series is so hard you gotta keep doing it. i can't keep up with everything happening in the league so this is such a good way to stay informed about what to stay informed about
I was at the reverse protest at the Coliseum in June. I’ve been a fan of the Athletics since birth and it was legitimately one of the best baseball games I have ever been to.
As a Yankees fan theres a part of me that kinda loves this season. I'm a big fan of chaos in sports no matter the sport or team so seeing the insane ups and downs of this season has at least been entertaining. The Boone and Laz Diaz ejection was one of my favorite moments in baseball history let alone this season, Boones imitation of Diaz absolutely killed me when I watched it live then hearing Boone talk about it in interviews and with Jomboy and them was just the icing on the cake.
Hey man I love how you hype up baseball so much. Around the time I started watching again I found your videos. I used to find baseball somewhat boring. Now I am starting to love this sport partly thanks to you! Keep it up!!
I used to watch baseball growing up and fell completely off of it. Your videos have singlehandedly reignited my interest in this sport, thank you for another great video
We need more municipally owned teams. Teams make money, so it's not like it would cast taxpayers in the long run. Municipally owned teams are a great way to build civic pride.
@@danlorett2184I don't think you understand how much money business and occupation taxes come in from pro sports. In my state, the municipal b&o tax rate is 1.5-3%. Of course, sometimes stadiums aren't in city limits 🤫
@@NoNameNo.5No it doesn’t, because those stadiums are worthless to the municipality if the team ever leaves. I mean look at how many stadiums just rot away into disrepair afterwards. The teams should be subject not just to normal tax rates (they usually aren’t) but the municipality should have a stake in the team as well.
@@ChipCheerio taxation is theft. Na, if the venu is good, it will make multiple revenue streams. Concerts, kids events, host rallies and conventions etc
As a lifelong O’s fan who remembers watching The Iron Man dominate, yet too young to have seen the ‘83 WS, this whole season feels like a dream. The O’s are leading the AL in perhaps one of the wildest MLB seasons in living memory.
When they were good out of nowhere 7-8yrs ago, I had bought a Win World Series future bet for a $50 at 1300 to 1 odds. They obviously didn't win the WS that year, but I have always rooted for them to do good because their fans are awesome. That futures would've paid $65,000 on a $50 bet.
Yes everything is going wrong, but holy crap this has been such a great year!! Also as an Angels fan, I stand with the As fans, love them and what's being done to them is BS
As a Rangers fan, I also stand with A's fans. Angels fans too, it's unfortunate that your org has wasted two of the best players we have ever seen. I think we all stand together in hating the Astros though.
As someone who really hasn't much more to do with Baseball other than watching this channel, I'm a Ohtani Fan first over everything else so I want all the success for him. But man am I gonna be sad when he leaves the Angels. He looks so good in that red and white gear!
It was crazy of how the Sell the Team chants happened during the MLB Draft Oakland's pick and booing Rob Manfred before each selection during ASG week in Seattle. I'm glad there was an effort to do it during the ASG, especially for Oakland's only rep in that game.
Beat baseball video I’ve seen all year! Thanks brother! As a dead met fan this got me excited for a REDS V ORIOLES WORLD SERIES, it’s just good baseball.
Most interesting storyline is definitely the Scherzer/Verlander rivalry, which I wasn't even familiar with as a National League devotee - super excited to keep watching that. Thank you for bringing attention to it, I hope the MLB would consider marketing that rivalry to play it up. Saddest part of the season so far has been Rizzo and his concussion. Poor guy. The Yankees were straight up negligent to let Rizzo continue playing - did none of their medical staff see a replay of the collision? I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since Rizzo passed concussion protocol, but still... How sad for such a great, charismatic guy.
It is rare these days, but it does happen, I remember Both Joe Panik and Mac Williamson from the Giants who were both going on tears and were on pace to easily make the all-star team only to have concussions ruin both of their careers.
I go back to Seattle about once a year and make sure I catch a Mariners game. I got to see Julio's fakeout when he robbed the Padres guy of the sure home run. And then run all over outfield catching every fly ball in his zip code. The kid is incredible.
The first minute(high cost teams doing bad, teams brawling, high paid players not making playoffs, etc etc) sounds like literally every baseball season ever
This is one of the best baseball videos I've ever seen. I basically have sat this year out bc the Yankees are so bad, and I seriously feel completely caught up, and I was riveted the whole time. Masterful video, fantastic edit. Great job
This Ohtani saga reminds me so much of the Harry Kane saga. One team chose to cash out, the other went all in on keeping their star. Really curious to see what happens to the Angels but it looks like the answer is downfall
This whole season has been insane. I've lived in cincinnati my entire life and I've NEVER seen an excitement like this with the Reds in all my 32 years. As far as the protests go, I think it's just another symptom of people being sick of the bs when it comes to pro sports. Prices at ballparks have exploded. I went to a reds game about 3 weeks ago and even nosebleed seats cost almost 40 bucks through ticketmaster, concession prices are outrageous, like 12 dollars for a beer and 8 dollars for a hotdog, all these players have bigger and bigger salaries with nothing to show for it. Fans are fed up with overpaid diva players who dont produce wins, fat cat arrogant owners who don't give a shit about the fans and self important umps who get as many calls wrong as they do right
This is my first time paying close attention to baseball and its been wild! Hope my Mariners Can reach the playoffs and be a good team for the next decade!
2023 is full of weird stories. The a's had such a passionate fanbase. I'm so proud of what the fanbase is doing. Elly and Ohtani are insane. Boone was hilarious and I am glad he protested the awful umpire. The Angels season continues to shock
Ohtani will end up a Mariner.... I hope. He already has a house in the Seattle area, has a good friendship with a few of the players, and Ichiro is still on the field for practices.
Not to mention Seattle's games can be viewed live in Japan I think however that if he requires Tommy John, he may wish to settle for a small deal or a qualifying offer to just stay an Angel
as a ken griffey, jr fan who saw him go to cincinnati, i would hope that shohei goes to seattle and wins a title. the guy is too incredible to have his talents wasted.@@jayinthebx
I know it happens every year, but it just feels like players are getting injured a lot more often than they used to. So many teams lose 2-5 of their best players at the same time
I don't watch Baseball and have only been to a few games but, these are excellent for someone trying to learn about the sport and what is going on. Great work, please keep it up.
I’ve never watched a single game of baseball in my life yet I always keep up to date with your videos! Your videos are top tier my guy, keep up the great work!
As a lapsed baseball fan, the drama and new generation of players this year have brought me back, baby!😂 Also, Ohtani can't make the same mistake as Mike Trout and stick around a mediocre franchise in his absolute prime.
Could there be a part 2 from this video because it was so well done and you didn’t even mention the mariners. Maybe once the season ends you could do another pretty please
The fact that MLB still hasn't mandated some sort of NFL-style salary cap blows my mind. Having single players making as much as ENTIRE TEAMS is so nonsensical and unfair-seeming it boggles my mind.
As someone who doesnt watch any American sports, i find it absolutely astonishing that the owners can just… pack up the whole club and move 100s of miles away
“The Oakland Athletics are the worst team in baseball but according to many, that is exactly what their ownership wants.” So… this is just the plot of Major League only modernized and with less Chief Wahoo.
I’m beyond pissed off about the Framber Valdez situation. He got a ton of people to think it was an accident, which looked probable at the time. They like 2 days ago he hit Jose caballero in the ankle after a homerun. My bet is that he’s just mad that he was a legit Cy Young contender and now he sucks. I now realize that Marcus semien isn’t an asshole, he’s right
The 2023 season patch really shook up the meta, this season is crazy. The young talent is really making the rich teams look foolish and I'm here for it, it's not pay-to-win anymore. It's so thrilling to see the O's, Rays, and my Blue Jays dominate the AL East!
Crazy how many storylines you were able to touch on without mentioning the dumpster fire of a season the Cardinals are having. 2023 truly has been a wild year.
Ohtani's free agent contract is gonna be the craziest thing to ever hit an MLB team. He's gonna get paid like nobody's ever been paid, and that's assuming the team paying him is gonna be a playoff contender who's already spending on other pieces. Someones gonna be breaking the luxury tax record with the possibility of him getting injured ruining either part of his game and making him the worst albatross contract of all times. I hope the guy comes out as one of the best to ever play the game but man, what a dice roll that could turn out to be.
I think the funniest possible outcome is if he goes to an AL central team. At least he'd have good odds of making the playoffs without it feeling like he joined a superteam.
Which is why I think he'll be a free agent likely into the next season if not longer. Name a team other than the Dodgers who have the payroll to pay him and are an immediate playoff contender. Yankees are a mess and will be for a while.
@@grumbosupreme They've already got ads on every inch of stadium space including the grass, and now ads are infiltrating the uniform. Whichever team signs Shohei to that $600-700m contract will have to change its name to the DraftKingsApplePepsi DodgerGiants presented by RU-vidTv
This is the first MLB season I've ever watched (British guy here), and i am so glad I did. It has been wildly fascinating and entertaining. Excited to see how it all ends.
