Listen, i'm not against women showing their bodies in red carpets but i think that's why lately the looks on award shows been lacking: it seems that celebrities are relying more on the body rather than the dress itself. That's why i love Iris Van Harpen, it's all about the crazy creativity and less about who is wearing it. Don't get me wrong, i loved when Rihanna wore that transparent dress and got everybody shook but i'm quite bored of the transparent, cutout and corseted looks. I want something Björk-esque, tent dresses, 20's flapper, big circle skirts, etc..
yeah like are the fashion girls on strike too because there is such a lack of imagination of dresses right now unless celebs just aren't picking them????
I agree. I am bored with women in bathing suits or less with shear dresses. It feels like they just want everyone to see how thin or busty or hippy or whatever they are body proud of. I enjoy the crazy but I also respect the plain beautiful.
The hold your red carpet fashion reviews have over me is INSANE. I saw the VMAs happened and have been patiently waiting for this video since. and I know nothing about fashion and am not even super passionate about it but you've changed me
it is so sad to see how Olivia’s red carpet looks are always disappointing, it’s like she has everything to make it and yet she doesn’t : there is no accessorization, no personality like it’s just there
It feels like at this point in Olivia’s life /career she is dressing more to show off her great body than dressing to make a statement with clothes. She’s just not a fashion girlie yet.
she's definitely leaning hard into her "not like other girls" punk/riotgrrrl music era in her red carpet looks too. Like she can't be bothered to do anything interesting cuz she's too cool. she'll move on hopefully as she continues to grow.
miss selena gomez knocked it out the park for me ! been desperately waiting for her to step up in a good red carpet look and she just did that . so happy to see her getting dressed appropriately at last
My issue with all the sheer and revealing outfits is that- the dresses by themselves honestly just do not look good. Im all for the girls showing off, but when it becomes a point to wear it just because its revealing…its just overplayed. Yes we know you have a body yes nipples are risky, but like girl… And also the designs of many of these dresses in themselves was just not cute. If were gonna be doing sheer or sexy revealing, lets make it look good, please. Meg is an example of it done cleanly and well. I think Nickis would have been much better had the same sort of lace been used for the skirt portion rather than just leaving it.
HUGE missed opportunity to put Cardi in a short S curl wave bob which is done using the same hair clips. That would have made it make so much more sense & would have also fit the period where the dress silhouette was popular. I'm sick of the unispiring long straight hair everywhere
olivia rodrigo actually just wore a short version of this in her rolling stone shoot on her instagram and it looked soo good. i wish cardi opted for it in the short style as well i think with so much going on it looks better with less material
I cackled at your reaction to Olivia's dress and I completely agree. She came out with a pop-punk early 2000s album called GUTS DAYS AGO and had a number 1 lead single called Vampire and she used NONE OF IT to inform her how she would dress.
i am just so sick of how taylor's stylist wastes her potential every time. she's such a gorgeous woman with such a statuesque figure and she always shows up in the most blah outfits. please do better taylor. as a fan, i'm begging you to do better.
@@dheerajvelamurii mean this year's look isn't anything wow or as wow as last year. But she still looks gorgeous, and the whole look give me strong edgy reputation vibe which i love (medusa head on the buttons *helloooo hinting on her next re-record album).
The embellishments on the Cardi B dress are traditional clips and barrettes and rollers used to set and style textured hair. That being said I immediately knew that cuz I’m a hair stylist and I see it as being a cool statement (which I enjoyed) but that might have been lost on those who are not in the know. It’s a specific statement. I liked it. Edit: I would have liked it MORE if the hair style was one in which those implements were used to create the look. Way more impact.
There is no way Taylor has a stylist . I feel she’s been giving us nothing for years on these red carpet. I just think she really loves her grandma Sundays best looks
cause she doesnt need to do anything extra lol she is there to get drunk have a blast and sweep all the awards.. other girlies can have the fashion thingy
I mean, she does work with a stylist + she is and has a VERY calculating team of people around her, curating her every move; her success is in relating and being accessible to a large swath of young people, so I get why she's a bit basic...and also, not everyone has great taste or likes to take risks. She is the epitome of Anthropologie to me.
I hope some day Tay-Tay watches one of Luke’s videos and sees just how deeply he believes in her ability to be dressed MUCH BETTER THAN SHE IS and hires him to dress her. She is an absolute knock out, but her event looks are always, always flat. I want better for her. Luke wants better for her.
Taylor swift is tall, thin, and could wear anything and look great, so her stylist is working so very hard to make her look so bad.each and every time she looks like a train wreck
@@kassiopiajudkins2722 I'm speaking as a Black person who has worked in and grew up in black beauty salons.. Their is nothing weird about it.. Please find someone else's comment to play the fake outraged game under goof ball..
Why is nobody catching Luke’s TSwift lyric references? “The summer has been cruel enough” and “Taylor said, “I’m fine” but it wasn’t true”?! CMONNNN ❤️🔥
This channel is one of the most important to me, after following for several years I truly feel like I'm able to understand so much about fashion design and those that are far more in thr scene than I am as a model and amateur costume designer
I think Taylor's Dress is an Easter Egg for her Reputation TV rather than fashion fashion. Also, I agree she could do better but Blondie is just there for fun and the drinks💀.
Reputation TV foreshadowing could have been such an exciting dress. I can picture it... but this is what we got. Her "reasons" for wearing Easter egg dresses are not reasons to look blah. Swifties always try to use that as a line of defence when it really shouldn't be brought up at all to defend boring looks.
I think taylor just Isn't a fashion girlie, she Isn't much intrested in it. As not everyone has to be, she only cares about it when she wants to drop easter eggs about sm ( in this case repution being the next re-recording). If she is looking good is a dress that's enough for her.
It may not come off this way, but Luke has always been *rooting* for Olivia, like genuinely, to serve good or at least decent looks, which is why he's ALWAYS frustrated when to comes to critiquing her red carpet style. I understand because I'm a fan of hers, and even some of us are begging for a stylist to swoop down like a saviour & finally do her some Red carpet justice. Unfortunately her stylist is the ultra-minimalist Danielle Goldberg, who specialises in the most boring, most bland, most unexciting outfits ever (seriously if anyone bothers, you can google the stylist to see her work) for all her clients. Much less for a young 19/20 yo pop star. Danielle's choices may fit some of her other celebrity clients who look passable in certain assembles she picks, but she definitely misses with Olivia 95% of the time... In fact, this dress at the VMAs is already an upgrade from the usual boring travesties that she puts olivia in (case in point: olivia during grammys 2023). I can't believe how many missed fashion opportunities a pretty girl like olivia has had... like Luke, i have well-intentioned frustrations... Girl needs help from a stylist who knows how to dress HER.
I feel like the overall feeling of this roast was that one meme with that guy that just says "My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined." lol
“It happened well, glad I missed it” 😂😂😂😂 For me, it’s the straight from runway clothing. Same accessories, everything that puts me off. Taylor Swift’s dress was, I think, inspired by the Elizabeth Hurley safety pin dress, but Taylor’s breasts? One up, one down? Why? Just why?
I'm a Colts fan, so I would love a reaction to Anthony Richardson's suit shorts, Kenny Moore's 70s inspired ensemble, and Shaquille Leonard's fit from week 1. Also, joe Burrow's everything. The man is gorgeous and has amazing style.
okay and? there's other millions of celebs that pay shush money to their victims but you and the other people only wanna talk about Doja when there's clearly most celebs doing this shi.
Cardi’s dress has hair clips that people usually use when they’re getting their hair ready but lately it’s been trendy to unironically wear them out…so it the unabashed / unapologetic vibes kind of matches Cardi
The Doja spiderweb dress is so good! I wonder how difficult it is to put on, and whether it could be worn again without destroying the shape. Either way, it was the most interesting look of the event (in my humble opinion), and is an absolute slay.
So weird, I’m 35 & of the majority of awards show the VMA’s is where people went all out. They took the fashion left, most of them didn’t go safe. It was more who can be the most wild, dramatic or even borderline dressed down. That was always a part of the fun of it for me. Some ICONIC looks of the early 00s came from VMA’s. I could name 4 off the top of my head && another 6 I’m pretty sure we’re. Sheesh, I couldn’t agree more. I DO love Selena’s look but I’m just about to hear your thoughts. 😬
Yeah, but having amazing red carpet style could completely elevate someone's career. Look at what happened with Zendaya. I think these new celebs should take note of that.
Taylor Swift literally has a model body and more money than most girlies, and yet she always looks like a mess. That has to be dedication to the bit!!! 🙈🙈🙈🙈
Question from a common person: when clothes are 'Custom' does that mean the client customizes the outift ? OR the designer created it outside of the main collection?
The designer designed the dress specifically, specially for Selena (e.g.) and for this event. The tag sewn in would often sport the name of the client.
shakira's lavender dress with the safety pins was much better- reminded me of Anne Hathaways twead dress- Shak's was like the silk version! Selena looked completely stunning! KarolG is endlessly looking to be naked without being naked, but always beautiful- like a water fairy!
My entire thought this time was that this carpet felt like art school prom with everyone doing the bare minimum, with hardly any effort at that. Also nude/showing skin does not necessarily automatically make a garment interesting, and I wish more celebrities or stylists would understand that.
Really admire people that can look at clothing and tell who designed it AND give context behind the design. Thank you for that. Twenty years ago we bedazzled everything. Now its tits and bits. 😂😂 Fashion is fun.
Me too . I can't understand why people are hating it in comments. I feel like fashion today will only be appreciated if they are tacky and over the top .
