Leo Young finished 16th as the first runner not from Kenya, Ethiopia, or Uganda. He led team USA to a third-place finish. What a run, going from 50th to 29th to 19th to finish 16th.

Watching Gidey collapse just in front of the finish line just tore my heart out. The interference from her coaches only compounded the tragedy prompting the DQ. The weather was just typical late summer here in Australia, especially west of the Great Dividing Range. Bathurst is notorious for hot dry conditions that turn stormy, almost on a whim. It was awful watching several athletes, not just Gidey, collapse within metres of the line, but the Aussie mixed relay team took home the bronze, which was awesome.

It’s been said that the WCC is the most challenging running event to win. Why because you don’t have specialists in this race. You have the best runners from all over the world who run from the 1500 all the way to the marathon competing. This challenges everyone and showcases how much strength is needed to win this prestigious race.
@veltaz9961
@veltaz9961 Год назад
You're wrong, it's a race for 5000-10000m specialists. Even when they had the short course (4km) it was win once by a 1500m specialist. Half marathon specialist do well tho, but marathon runners...they run two marathon per year and that's it. But it's a brutal event no doubt, always full of drama and surprise. What's really crazy for me is how good bekele was, winning the 4km race, coming back litterally one day after to crush everyone on the 12km race. And he did that 4-5 years in a row 😅

I was there. Wonderful. Hulls warm up got the ground excited, The junior races were tough particularly for those who earnt a wild card entry from Friday. Such fine racing. There was no where to hide and cruise on this course. Watch the finals of the Senior races from the finish straight. Chebet ran the tangents. Gidey actually had a hitch in her stride at the top of the course watch the video back. Wow. I just saw a current wr holder for ten and five k, at the time of the race, nearly win. Nearly. Chebet is very good as well. The men’s race! Wonderful. Joshua was the only winner who had time to celebrate in the finish Shute. You observed it as a friend of mine observed he has run well under thirty minutes! Wow. Two forty eight on that course! Oh my. Joshua is such an easy mover. NYC half marathon. I can relate to Gidey. Back in my prime, when I was much faster than I am now, I was running the best times of my life and putting in 70 mile weeks. I was so confident and signed up for a fast course on a 5k. Not a long distance at all... except it was 95 degrees Fahrenheit. I'd never run in a race that hot. For the first time in my life, with at least 100 5k races under my belt at that time, I was walking at the 2 mile mark. I simply couldn't cool my body off with the effort I was giving it and was radiating heat like a furnace.
