Spot on, it’s a great bike! So happy you got a chance to try it out. I love my 2023. 10,000 miles and zero issues, runs like a top! Enjoy it while you have it!
I owned a GL1800 but I sold it as it was just too much effort in the heavy traffic the UK now suffers on a daily basis. I now ride a Honda NC750X which is the most practical bike I have ever owned.
My father still has his 2006 Gold Wing. He's 84 years old now and rides very little anymore. Him and my mom put 80K miles on it and that was his third Wing! Mom passed 3 years ago but she wouldn't let my father sell it. I myself ride a 2023 BMW R1250GS Adventure and never really cared for the Gold Wing. Believe me, nothing against it but I just didn't want something that big. When Honda redesigned and trimmed it down back in 2018. I started to get intrigued. After watching this It really has my attention. What an awesome bike!!! Thanks for the video. I need to try a DCT bike. I hear from so many that it's awesome. I'm not one who'll knock it because I haven't tried it. Cheers!!
It's a Honda you just know it will be good and probably better than you'd expect from its looks and size. There's something in my head saying I would like to try one at some point. As usual a good review with facts, humour and a bit of craziness.
… what a conincidence … test rode the same bike yesterday as my AT got serviced .. it is like Alladin‘s Carpet, but nimble and quick at the same time … pretty tempting …
I think the new Wings look really nice but I can't afford their purchase price. The Honda guy suggested getting one one on PCP, as I would only need to pay a monthly payment to ride one, but I'm not comfortable with renting my motorcycles.
Nice review! I always ride larger adventure bikes, BMW GS and Ducati MSv4, for longer rides and touring with great handling. I always wondered why not a Honda Goldwing. My friends remind me of the twisties we ride regularly. If you get a Goldwing, should you keep a midsize bike as well?
@@shawnjoseph7522 Feel like I need to wait until I have more time to enjoy it. Right now I still have to work for a living. It'd be a shame to buy one of these and keep it close to home all the time. I already have a sport tourer for that lol.
You know that footage of the motorcycles of the '70s that were "barely comfortable enough to go to the grocery store" is from the '60s, right? Actually when the Gold Wing debuted in 1974, it was a game changer, but there were definitely a lot of great touring bikes at that time, the GL-1000 just raised the bar.
Hi Smokey! Thanks for the nice video on the GW. The bike is awesome but I prefer the BMW 1600 GT, it is a big girl too but to me it looks and functions more like a motorcycle than the Honda, and I also prefer bikes not so low in terms of seat height. Have you already tested the BMW 1600 GT? Probably you did but I maybe missed that video… Cheers! 👍🏻
I have a whole one 1800 and it is just surprising how well planted and quick that bike is. Unfortunately and this is something that just doesn’t get mentioned often enough if you are 6‘3" you have to be prepared to drop thousands of dollars in order to ride the motorcycle. You have to have a seat they get you up and back I opted for the ultimate king. I kind of regret not spring for the Russell day long as I might’ve been able to get up and back even further. You also have to drop the pegs. Ideally you’re also gonna wanna be able to move the bars. All I want to say I’m a little over $2000 spent and it’s still not that comfortable. Which is entirely because of my height. I test rode an 18 and found it to be pretty much the same. They are amazing bikes, but they suffer from that classic Japanese motorcycle problem of being not comfortable for tall guys. I do not like BMWs because of their final drive issues 1250 GS needed almost nothing to be comfortable. (Which is not to say I didn’t spend too much money farkling the damn thing. It just wasn’t a comfort issue.)
Sorry contacted Yamaha over 10 times , many different people who work for Yamaha and they don't respond what so ever so not showing any Yamaha's for now 😁
🤔 Okay your history lesson... *WRONG*... I couldn't tell if you said 47 or 77... but the first Gold Wing came out in 1975. So here's your history lesson... Honda, had created the CB750 in 1969 and it was the largest most powerful Japanese bike that there was on the market at that time, and although a very good and popular motorcycle its own right, It wasn't very popular with most American motorcycle riders. Not only had World War 2 just ended with the Japanese only 25 years prior, but good old Harley-Davidson Shovelhead Custom had a 74 cubic inch (1,200 cc) Shovelhead engine with a lot of shiny chrome. So in 1972 another Japanese manufacturer decided they were going to try to compete with Harley Davidson in the American marketgood and blow Honda's little CB750 off the road. So, that competitor Kawasaki decided to do one better and make any even bigger bike then Honda's CB750, and came out with it's legendary Kawasaki 900 Z1. The Z1 was amazing, it set many records, and was the biggest baddest touring bike you could get, oh and it had chrome and much more powerful than Harley's larger shovelhead. Honda saw this and can't have it... So they started right away on developing a bigger bike to compete with the Z1. Now the Z1 is an amazing machine, and actually, it was known to be a touring bike, even though it was more of the first sports bike. I call it the "Grand Daddy Crotch Rocket" Honda decided to come out with something bigger, but also more smoother. Giving it a large 1000cc boxer style engine that ran smooth with a low center of gravity. The style of bike would definitely help define what a touring bike should be for years to come. When Honda came out with the 1975 Gold Wing, with the GL1000cc, Kawasaki decided to increase there Z1 900cc engine to match, and in 1976 Kawasaki started sewing them as KZ 1000... These two bike started to increase the sales of Japanese bikes coming into the US market and even helped Americans get over the stigmatism for other Japanese manufacturers like Suzuki and Yamaha start selling motorcycles in the US as well. I am the proud owner of both, a 1975 Kawasaki 900 Z1 (the last year of the Z1) and a 1981 Honda GL1100... Which is the same year I was born so I want you to do the math. 😜 Hope you enjoyed my history lesson... of what was the first year and why the Gold Wing was produced. 😉👍
40 jong? Ammaj, ik zender 64 ! PS: asge wa sportiever en dieper wilt gaan zet ge de vering best op twee mannekes. Hij gaat veele minder toucheren dan. Toffe filmkes 😅😅
