@@Todesschleicherthe only way they give the picks back is if the spurs think the hawks are gonna be really good and the picks would be useless compared to the number one pick they could get
This is the worst draft to have the number 1 pick. It’s the best draft to have 4 and 8. The talent level is flat throughout most of the lottery. These guys need to stop trying to give away my teams picks!
Nowadays GMs and coaches seem to worry much more about their 5’s getting scorched by guards blowing past them on a switch than the opposing center handling their own in the low post. Even though it’s still the era of Jokic and Embid.
@@user-rr3pc3yw3g If he wasn't 22 years old... If you want to compare Edey to Cilingan, you should be comparing Edey from 2 years back, when he was 20, like Cilingan is now.
@catanace1741 that makes no sense. I'm not talking bout potential because we don't know the full potential of any player or how close they already are to their potential. As of right now, edey is a lot better than clingan. He was also better as a sophmore...
@@jaywp2343 But you have to talk about potential when it comes to the draft. These are kids with no NBA experience and for the most part no professional experience at all. If you're going to compare them just based on their current skills, completely ignoring the upside, you're going to miss big time. here's one example: If you went of current skills at the 2020 draft Obi Toppin should have been picked first, before Anthony Edwards. After all, Obi Toppin was that years NCAA MVP, and was putting up better numbers than Anthony Edwards. But Obi Toppin was doing that at 22, while Anthony Edwards was not too far behind and not even 19 years old. So obviously his upside was much higher, and he was rightfully chosen first.
I’m saying it Zach Eddy will dominating the NBA from day one … He won’t be a defensive liability and he’s going to a beast from day one. Yeah I’m old school but it’s going to happen. Mark my words. I don’t get it.
Nobody in this draft is worth 2 lottery picks for 1. I would only do it for the Spurs if it's a 1 for 1 pick and player or a future pick. Also if Atlanta picks Clingon or Sarr. The Spurs could get there guy. But I'm cool getting Castle at 4.
i feel like this hype with Clingan is similar to the hype with DeAndre Ayton in his draft year. teams didn’t get much scouting or were scared to take the european player(s) because there wasn’t enough film on them, so phoenix & sacremento both panic and take the best american name because theyre bigs and all of their games every college season were on TV . look how that has panned out, Ayton is a huge underachiever & marvin bagley isn’t getting playing time on the PISTONS, meanwhile Luka just carried his team to an NBA finals appearance.
ZR might as well be a Deandre Hunter clone and Sarr is this ball of clay but he wants to be a forward instead of a center. For every Luka there is a dozen Mario Hezonjas.
Absolutely no way SA gives ATL their picks back. This is the perfect draft to not have the number 1 pick. There's nothing Atlanta could offer the Spurs that's worthwhile
There is no need for a trade between the Spurs and Atlanta. The number four pick and the number eight pick, just to move up from four to one would be a tremenous waste of draft capital. The Spurs should stick and pick, and keep all of their acquired picks for the furture. Let the Hawks choose Clingan with their first pick.
@@soraito1858 Nope I actually agree with you on paper it’s bad and notice I didn’t put “future superstar” or “franchise player” as a tier because I don’t see any of these prospects that way. That doesn’t mean no stars will emerge or all the players have low upside and when we look back years from now I’d bet against this class looking as weak as 2000 and 2013 overall but I don’t think there will be a Giannis or that it will be considered an elite class
If u were the spurs gm would u rather move up and select just Risacher or would you stick at 4 and 8 and select Holland and castle at 4 and 8? I just don’t think risacher is as valuable as that.
Spurs rather have the 4th and 8th pick in a draft with no clear number 1 talent. Their only core player is Wemby. Not sure if vassell and sochan are for the future but both are promising.
@@r9dog949 they don’t really need a big. A big wing is a much more pressing concern. And Edey isn’t a top 5 center in this draft. If you have to take one, pick one of the many better than him.
@@WHITTSWORLD522 that wasn’t the issue w the mavs series 💀 that was everyone having their best shooting streak of all time - yes we need size we don’t need a 7’4 guy who’s basketball talents start and end w being tall chet is our 5 they’ve made that extremely clear we need all around size not just the tallest guy possible
@@azumuhfinally someone with a brain okc did not lose due to size we lost due to okc shooting bad from 3 while the mavs role players shot historically from 3
I like the idea of the hawks trade, but why limit it to San Antonio? I would pick Zach at 1 and trade down to either Houston or San Antonio depending on who has the better offer
i mean hawks pick in 2025 draft holds way to much value, way more than 1st this year. idk if you just said 4th and 8th for the 1st or some of the atlanta picks that spurs got also included.
I'm clueless on this draft. Can someone please explain to me why teams are so cool on Zach Edey but so hot on Donovan Clingan? Is Clingan like the white American Rudy Gobert?
theres a lot of smoke going on here right before the draft, pretty sure sarr will still go #1 despite not working out with the hawks if they want the best player, why would they pick clingan over sarr
@@xatsunbecause Alex Sarr is all potential. The floor for Clingan and ZR is a role player in the NBA for a decade. Alex Sarr could be this unicorn that teams dream of or he can be another Jabari Parker because he does not view himself as a 2 way center, he wants to be Giannis who can handle the ball most of the time.
Capela is old, injury prone, and misses wide open layups now. Big O is fantastic, but if the hawks are smart, they trade him. Can’t have a severely undersized pg and center on the floor at the same time and expect to win games
I dont believe the wizards would take another wing at 2 unless Kuzma or Deni get moved. Theyre already log jammed with Deni Kispert Coulabaly and Kuz. Adding another minute needy young player to that list is a mess
Why would the Spurs trade both picks? They should pick two PGs and have them compete. Increase your odds of finding your guy unless you trade for Garland.
Plan A for Hawks: Draft Sarr at 1 and wait and see if Clingan is still available at 4. If he is, then make a deal with SA to send them Sarr for picks 4 and 8. Plan B: Houston takes Clingan, so stick with your current pick and keep Sarr. The "Sarr hates Atlanta" thing is massively overblown anyway.
if atlanta really want to trade with the spurs they'll take risacher as they already have wemby and are in need of a wing/shooting even more than they need a pg imo, wemby is getting double to triple teamed so shooting would help and on defense they have a wing problem, players like tatum, brown, zion, giannis etc are their biggest bane
Thunder arent taking zach edey they are trading up in the draft to get a versatile PF. Edey cant play 5 out offense and the reason thunder have the success they is because they play small ball
If I'm Atlanta, I'm blowing it up. Trade Trae to SA for my picks back and SA's picks this year (at least one). I'd also get Murray to other teams for more draft capital. As a Rockets fan, i like what Sheppard brings to the team. He could be a big factor for them in two years and on the cheap.
Bob, we Spurs fans don’t want Trae. We value the haul of picks that the Hawks gave us for Dejounte. Over the next few years, those picks should be a treasure trove of talent.
No world Spurs trade 2 top 8 picks in this years draft for Risacher. Maybe the 4th pick and 2 second rd picks, but Atlanta isn’t getting their picks back.
9:00 I really hope my Hometown Hornets don’t draft Castle. I think he’ll be a good pro, don’t get me wrong. But I want a big or a forward. I’ve been saying for months I really want Matas Buzelis, Ron Holland, or Cody Williams. I think all of them will be studs.
These are drafts I don't think the number 1 pick is helpful with the expectations this provides. I'd much rather be 3 or 4 when it's so open who could go number 1!
No ways Spurs give up that 2025 unprotected first. Risacher at 1. Sarr at 2. Some team trade up to get Clingan at 3. Spurs get Reed at 4. As a Spurs fan, either Reed or Castle will be a perfect match with Wemby. Buzelis at 5. Hornets probably get Castle if available but they can also look to add some wing players like Cody Williams. Blazers will get Knecht as they desperately need shooting. Spurs will have some interesting players to choose from: Devin Carter, Salaun, Carrington. It kinda depends on their 4th pick or who's best available.
Sarr not working out with The Hawks is baffling. Aside from the historical relevance of being the number one pick in any draft, The Hawks are a great team for a number one pick to land in. The number one pick is supposed to go to the worst team in the league and Atlanta are far from that. They'll probably make the playoffs next year. Also the consolation prize is going to The Wizards who will 100% grab him if he's on the board. I cant wrap my head around it. The best reason I can think of is he wants to play with Bilal Coulibaly
@@sarahmccoy1941 Yeah but if you're the number one pick you're supposed to go to a terrible team. At least in Atlanta's case they were the 10 seed and they weren't even supposed to get that pick. And how can they be worse than The Wizards? 😂 You want to go play with Trae Young, Dejounte Murray, Jalen Johnson and Onyeka Okongwu or you wanna play with Jordan Poole 😂
Are we trying to play for a championship or not? Grizz drafting Topic seems pretty reactionary to me and implies that the organization would be caught flat-footed should they be unable to trade up for Clingan. They have a Plan B, and I expect the team will stick to it. 😒 They DO have somebody else in mind, right?
@@DaLockedOne okc was so good because chet is the 5.Chet is best as a 5 having him at the 4 make chet not as effective especially offensively because the purpose of Chet at the 5 is to make centers guard chet having chet at the 4 you make wings guard Chet. Which will make it harder for chet to score plus that ruins okc offense which is 5 out drive and kick I not oppose to it but I prefer Chet as the 5 it depends on the 5 that starting and Edey is not that
The gm said they want someone who can shoot the 3. Williams can shoot the 3 much better than Buzelis. Williams also plays defense much better than Buzelis.
