That's a badazz looking Red Dot award winning searchlight. I'll probably never afford one, but so appreciate all the innovation. The rotating wheel is so cool, and I like that you can see the lumens in that screen. Thanks for showcasing it, me likey.
I recall my first serious search light, the Olight SR-90 back in year 2011, it made 2200 lumen from a single Luminous LED driven at 30 Watts. How things have progressed since. The 2200 Lumens of the SR-90 were more than enough for every practical purpose. With the LR60R, the 21K Lumens are just a selling point, as you said this is a 3000 Lumens search light, and that 3000 are above any true requirement. Add the same amount as flood, and you have the perfectly balanced lighting instrument. I'm having problems to purchase some additional battery packs here in the UK. Thanks for the review. Regards, Anthony
In a SAR operation, a 1000 lumen spotlight is all that is necessary. An higher light flux creates an excessive contrast, which in turn reduce the visual perception of both near and far objects. From a SAR point of view, this is a 3000 lumen light, which is an excellent performance for a searchlight. The 21,000 number is a marketing gimmick. Thanks for the video.
Perfect answer. This is exactly why I told my friends to get the LR35R. It's still a 3000 lm light but for half the price. People that research know that its not the first number that counts. Its the second and in some cases third.
That 300 lm looked at least like some flashlights 1000-2000 lm. The downside with fast charging is that it will lower the lifespan of the battery. Good thing this has a removable battery.
What Fenix call fast charge is a 40 Watt charge. There are four 21700 cell in the battery pack, which mean each cell is charged at 10 W, which is about 2 Amp, or a charging speed of 0.5 C. That is the slow charge setting in a desktop charger. Never believe the OEMs - crunch the number by yourself...
Those are four Samsung 40T, 4,000 mA/h capacity, the best 21700 cells available on the market. Bigger cells would not provide the same output current, and wouldn't last eight years if calendar life, expected from the Samsung 40T...
WOW! That is one S. I. C. K. AZZ dang flashlight! Yeah! Yeah, 3000 to 21000 is a bit much of a jump. But all in all, a fairly solid offering from Fenix. I cant afford it, but for that money, it needs to be able to be locked out. Nice one Chris! CHRISPpyyyyyyyyyy! 👍✌😊
Regarding lack of lockout. A cheap and simple fix - unscrew the end of the torch and insert a plastic or paper disc (like Fenix does to protect the battery during shipment). Yes, it's slower than flicking a switch, but it's 100% effective and won't slip out of place. In the UK, Amazon sell inexpensive acrylic disks in a range of diameters - 40mm, 45mm, 50mm etc. The 50mm discs cost around £8.68 (say $11) for a pack of 15.

A got a flashlight tip for men. You can use these big flashlights on your shoulder like a bazooka in Commando so you can feel more manly. Or carry it on your shoulder like the log in Commando.
