@@YoloYester94 94? is that when you were born? 30 years old and I think you'd have something better to do than comment on the grammar of some guy you've never met. Don't you have a job?
Awesome video and congrats on completing this challenge! Those 6 luckies in a row were absolutely insane LOL I hope others are inspired by this to try Pre-Hooktail Pit for themselves :)
I have been playing the remake of this game since it came out a couple of weeks back. I actually was attempting my own early pit run (not pre-Hooktail, but still before chapter 2) and actually beat it my first try. I mean, in the remake you get a chance to retry the battle you died in upon getting a game over, but it was still grueling. I was stuck on Bonetail for days. But then, after taking a break for a while, I stumbled across this video, which gave me the idea to use the partner-peril strategy and inspired me to keep trying. And after a few more attempts, I FINALLY WON! I will forever be grateful to you for that. Great video man :)
I really like how on the winning run, where you first thought everything was perfect...it then turned into everything going wrong, only for luck to just give you the big confidence to go for the real win and boom.
Coming from watching dedicated Paper Mario ttyd channels, it's funny seeing someone hyping up pre-hooktail pit as the game's "hardest challenge", not that I could do any better. Either way, good job!
Hey RaysFire! Just wanted to drop by and say hello from one fan to another. Your content always brightens up my day with those incredible speedruns and entertaining streams. Keep being awesome and inspiring us all!
I just wanna put it out there that this is not the hardest paper mario ttyd challenge out there. TTYD has an infamous challenge called "Impossible Mode" which has less than a few dozen people who have actually finished the thing. Mister red falcon has done the challenge himself actually! Its an epic challenge for sure.
I beat Bonetail VERY recently and it was the tensest boss I've ever fought in recent memory. I did mine during the General White quest, though- seeing somebody best them with only ONE Crystal Star is downright incredible. I knew Power Bounce was broken in the OG,, but I had no clue just HOW broken it was.
@@videogamesarecool9280 Evasion badges don't stack additively, but rather multiplicatively. In actuality, the chance of dodging 6 attacks in a row with 2 Pretty Luckies and 1 Lucky Day equipped would be (1-(.9*.9*.75))^6, or around 0.37%.
I'm playing the remake, and I'm not sure if I want to do a pre-hooktail run x) But I just did a post-hooktail/pre-chapter 2 run that I've won on the second try ! No remake allowed by the remake of a lost fight, and no peril strat because I don't like them, it took me more than 5 hours on said second try x) Btw I think pre-hooktail run are way harder on the remake : no glitch to get 2 more shrine early, every partner are fully healed when leveling up. Sure, you start with 15 item slot, and I think superguard are are easier (like 2/30th of a second rather than 3/60th ?), but with 2 less strategy for the run it will be harder imo
What an incredible journey, the badge bandits were so memorable when it happened live, I forgot that bit happened so early on in the attempts. This is a great video, it teaches you about the run, both why it's difficult and how that's dealt with, along with telling a really compelling story along the way! So when is the Remake Pre-Hooktail Pit video coming out? :rays3c:
can you not leave the pit after like floor 50, re-equip, and then go back in with the better stuff and more resources, to be at a better spot at floor 50 than previously
That defeats the purpose of a challenge like this though. The whole point of early game pit challenges is to do the pit in one go without leaving partway through and re-entering.
Thats a seperate challenge, Prologue Pit iirc, both difficult obviously but the other you need to use glitches to get in rather than the intended way into the pit
this is not the hardest challange the hardest challange is doing the lvl 1 version where you get into the pit with a glitch and have even less stuff to work with
