The Three Most Important Notes For 3rd Position Blues! I'm using a "C" Hohner Golden Melody Harmonica by Tom Halchak of Blue Moon Harmonicas in the Key of D and D minor in this lesson (3rd Position). Im also using a Hohner Chord Harmonica! Dun Dun Daaaaah!
Here we explore the importance of 3rd Position Blues root notes to get you started playing WITH the band and being able to play changes WITHOUT them TOO!

Thank You Mooncat! for 'Clearing the Smoke' away from the 3rd Position Mystery I been wondering about for the last few years! Unfortunately I'm not allowed in any province of the King or Queen due to past felony convictions from years ago. Even a formal pardon from the royal family still leaves me vulnerable to the discretion of the border guard. The amount of money time and planning is Unfortunately not worth that risk. So sorry! ❤️

I got some basic diatonic harmonicas a while back, but found it hard to isolate notes, and learned you also need to wing it till you happen upon how to bend notes. So i gave up.

Thanks for sharing... I am trying to start to Sing something and play licks and fills, and starting just with the root notes is pretty cool, and I start to learn the pitches, etc. Maybe it's useful for some other people...

Love 3rd position but I don't use the bottom octave enough. Good practice to get me there.

This is a good one for me to work on breath control. I keep filling up with air but the more I practice, the more I'm staying balanced. Do you sneak in a 2 blow, or are you just blasting air out on the 4 blow?

I think you mean the 3 blow maybe (same note as 2d)? But no usually I just exhale into the air when I need to get rid of excess breath. You will DEFINITELY learn how to do this naturally by going slow then speeding up.

Any advice for noob beginners. Also, any harmonica brands that make harps that make it easier to isolate/bend notes. Or do you say don't do that, cause that's like driving automatic.

Hohner Special 20 is a harp a lot of noobs and advanced players love!!!

@@jasonricci thx for replying. Have a few basic diatonic harmonicas somewhere: in c and a couple of other keys. Will look into the hohner. I found a few tweaked harmonicas on youtube a while ago, but have forgotten them. Will try learning 'harp' and uke. Am left handed.
