The term "dosha" used in the Indian medical system of Ayurveda means "a faulty thing." In Ayurveda there are three main body-types called doshas: vata, pitta & kapha. They are called faulty because the five elements tend to separate from one another. This ancient system based on the 5 elements, is accurate in its ability to determine your innate propensities, your body type and your personality from birth. Unlike the complexity of the gene code, this easy to learn pattern recognition system enables you to determine your compatibility with potential partners, how to eat right for your body type, which environment is most suitable in which to live and work.
The Doshas - Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Nature creates these body types by combining the 5 elements. Each body type has distinct traits and personalities. Learn how the doshas will change your perception of yourself and the world.
These tools are invaluable for educators, business leaders, yoga practitioners and anyone in or contemplating being in a relationship.

I really like your speaking, you are very clear and interesting. Just please note that classically Ayurveda would not use a prakruti to create a diet plan. The first two stages of samprapti are naturally balanced if one lives in accord with the seasons. As long as disease has not manifested too far down the road, one would just stick to seasonal diets to balance the dosha with perhaps some slight modifications per personally elevated doshas, but nothing major. Only with vikruti do we start considering the doshas and food choices we are making within that light - which should still be tempered by many other factors. Hope this makes sense.

Very enlightening. I knew some basics on the three doshas but this video was more in depth. I never realised you could be a mix of 2 dosha types. Jeffrey explains himself well and is very easy to listen to. Just one question, is there a part 2?

Such relative information throughout all of this video! I am very intrigued whether Vata/Pitta type relationship is at all sustainable if the Vata type is Vata-Pitta? Where would I find further info on this? Kind regards, Roxie

love this talk, thanks so much - although I do disagree with the concept at 13:55 that our consciousness is separate from our bodies, not arising from it. how then can food affect emotions and drugs affect conscious states? and different types of physical activity affect mood or feel? your body is your brain

Thank you so much for this! Quick question: Vata is supposed to eat really well cooked foods. Now how does that stand in the face of "cooking destroys the nutrients and phyto nutrients in food" rhetoric ? Does cooking really do this and if so then how is Vata getting nutrients? Please advise. Thank you again.

Vata comes from Vayu ( means wind).

Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I always thought I was a Kapha, but then when I heard or read about the other doshas, they to sounded like me. So, I recently took the test on the Chopra Center website, and the result was a tri-dosha. I'm almost equally balanced by the three; 23, 23, and 24. They said that it was rare, but that's the reason I'm having a hard time. This makes it incredibly difficult for me to follow any specific type. Would you make a video on this please? Thank you 😊

short answer yes - if you mean balanced vata - but its not usually the case. See Jeffrey's video on the gunas. Sorry for late answer.
