Not a fan of any "built in" batteries that cannot b changed, love my LR60s as they can also be used as a battery charger for 21700s.

I see that and I agree! The LR70 would be great for those wanting a powerful flashlight with lantern and power bank features as a bonus.

Me too.. built in batteries are a deal breaker for me. Most of the time flashlights are stored away. Batteries get degraded overtime and you need to easily replace them if needed.

@@NitecoreStore please help. how to put the white lantern cover off?
@Eric-rl6ju

It could have been perfect if batteries are replaceable like the LR60.

I have 4 of the LR60's. Wouldn't trade one of them for the 70. We line the fishing dock with them mounted with the magnetic base on the rails. Very rare but have had to change the batteries out a couple times. So the built in batteries is a no go. I like the flashlight but I EDC a MH25S, wife EDC an MH12SE. Both of our EDC will be upgraded to the pro series. So I guess if you don't have a flashlight this might be an option if your not out for multiple days without charging. Another thought give it the throw of at least the mh12se. You have the Lantern for near field. more thought. Make a Magnetic cover base on the flashlight end put an optical sensor so the flashlight shuts off when the cover is on. put the hanging loop on the cover. odds are you're not going to hang it with the flashlight. Lets get to work on the LR80

Not so many modes in lantern mode, like LR60 model. From 55 lm jumping direct to 400 lm. Batteries are not replaceable, that are disadvantages for me.

I totally understand what you are saying, I definitely noted that as well. However I see the flashlight and the power bank with low current mode features to be a great addition for those looking for multiple features in one device.

Maybe for next release, say LR80, Nitecore could manage to allow replaceable batteries. Then move the hook to something like a magnetic cap that can double as a magnetic base so we can remove it if we want to use the torch and then put the cap on to hook or to stick onto metals for lantern use. Add flexibility to the hook by breaking it into 2 halves of umbrella style I see from some other company's offering (E.g. So you can also hook them onto strings directly which you can't with LR60/LR70). Also it'd be nice if Nitecore can add another brightness stepping to the lantern as they increase the lumens like @tibi mentioned.

Those are great recommendations, I will forward them to the manufacturer!@@anderu0779

is around 40USD if it survive 1 year of usage and I am able to used at least once a month for the year it already achieve its ROI. most often ppl just misplace their EDC/not carrying it around when is needed. Even battery bank got life spend thus I dont see it as a deal breaker for build in battery. Infact since is on typc c charging which is compatible with my current phone charger I will be happy to maximize the usage and see how well the LR70 ages ~~

Hello, I’m from Ukraine, and I also run a RU-vid channel about flashlights, knives, edc. There is a power outage in our country, and learning about such a wonderful lr70 lantern would be very useful for civilians and military personnel. As soon as it appeared, I dreamed of getting it for review.

Nice lantern and 3000 lumen flashlight to boot. Great styling, definitely going on the short list.

So you slapped a flashlight on the bottom and stripped away several useful features. No magnet, no battery charger with replaceable batteries, no directional lantern… also this interface is way too complicated.

I guess, we have to wait for LR 80...
@joelconolly5574

I don't know what's complicated about a few button clicks. Also internal batteries increase battery life much better than removals. I mean argument that switching between batteries to extend is fine but then this is also a power pack. For a 3 in 1 it's fine but if you want ta lantern only, the older models are still available.

I thought this was an upgrade to the LR60, but it seems to be a huge downgrade. I use my LR60 daily, and use it as a power bank, 18650 & 21700 charger, spare battery holder, and general purpose night light. Not to mention the magnetic base is such a crucial feature for lantern type lights, It boggles my mind how the LR70 designer thought it was a good idea to take out all the key features people loved from the previous version, and think it was a great idea...

I read in some online stores description of this LR70 as having magnetic strip. Is this true? Can't find this feature anywhere

Is it possible to open LR70 as LR60? Is it possible to replace the battery and use it as a charger for the 21700?
@xtibi1
@xtibi1 10 месяцев назад
Nope. Or maybe only if you destroy it or cut it in two pieces :)

Would've been a lot better if the SST40s were replaced with more high CRI emitters instead.

Umm, please explain how you get 1,000 lumen for 10 hours while running two sst-40's on a 36Wh battery? Is that 1,000 lumens for 5 minutes and 100 lumens for the remaining 595 minutes?
