"Jersey Boys" is a Broadway play and movie about how Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons grew up and got their start. edit: My favorite song is "Big Girls Don't Cry" after that "Working My Way Back To You" (The Spinners covered this in 1979).
YES! As a little girl in rural Ohio, I sang the falsetto (at least I thought I did). Even now in my dotage (I am 63) I still reach for the stars whenever I hear this song. LOL!!
I was a teen, loved their music. I always called them Frankie Vallie & the 4 seasons. ( I spelled it wrong) Made a movie about them called Jersey Boys. My favorite is Sherri, ♥️I can still sing every word to this day. They were big when I was a teen. 🔥🔥
"Who Loves You" was my favorite 4 Seasons song. I had a lot of abuse in my childhood. The words to the song comforted me. Still does. Don't mean to be a downer. Not abused anymore but I still love the song.
Falsetto was big back in the day. It started with "Do-Wop" and carried on from there. Remember there was only AM Pop stations on the radio for years. These were dance tunes that were played at parties & hops, easy words to learn, & 3 minute time limit. FM radio was considered "underground" & could usually only be heard late night. Lol sorry for the long opinion but I'm 71 & haven't been out for a week 😎
Do Wop needs to come back, I would love to be in a group or band that sings like this but not as many people are interested in this music anymore unfortunately aha
I like "Lucky Ladybug". I know it's not a normal song you expect to see from someone. But it's catchy!! 🤣 I like the doo wop sound too!! Love great harmony!!
Sweet. I always liked Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons. I love My Eyes Adored You. It's one of those "what could have been songs". Makes me remember a girl that I should have married. I went for someone that was "prettier". I'm an idiot. And BTW, time DOESN'T heal all wounds. Just throwing that out there...lol.
The way I know this song for the most part is because a portion of this song was featured in the movie, Mrs Doubtfire from 1993. My favorite 4 Seasons songs are this one and "December '63 (Oh What a Night.)" and "Big Girls Don't Cry."
Love this song, but then I love almost everything they did. When my niece said I needed to see Jersey Boys I was nervous, because shows can ruin music, but it was great! My favorite use of this song was in the small movie, a great, movie, Heart and Souls.
Just wanted you to know that I was his limo driver when he came to Cincinnati Ohio asked for their autographes they all gave them except Frankie Valley saying he doesn't give them I said to him who do you made you famous your fans gave a great concert Brenda Lee country singer there too driving them back to hotel he told me you're right without fans I wouldn't be who I am so he gave me his autograph and thanked me for being so honest. Boss called me into office next morning asked what happened last night at concert told him he said Frankie wants me to be his driver whenever he comes here. Made me feel good
I’m only 32 but I have a nostalgic affinity for old music- I remember listening to the oldies station on Saturday nights with my mom and calling the request line over and over just to request this song; it was my favorite. Good pick!
One of my favorites by the Four Seasons is "December, 1963 (Oh What a Night)". This was released in 1975 and features drummer Gerry Polci on lead vocals.
I'm 51, I always thought I was born 20 years too late, I love this genera of music..... on my motorcycle, in the jeep with the top off or in my truck with the sun roof open...jamming to the oldies doo wop especially.....Good times
My Brother....Lisa Stansfield Singing Billy Holiday's classic blues hit "Good Morning Heartache" live. This is what "sangin" is all about. Stansfield never really got the credit she deserved for her amazing vocal talents. You won't be disappointed. - Joe
I was a tiny tiny little girl when this came out. This particular album way my very first album, vinyl people, cuz at that time my big sis, 15 years older then me, was listening to them. Hey, the broadway show, Jersey Boys, was about Frankie Valens and The Four Seasons. I don’t know if my state, New Jersey, has been given the props it deserves from Sinatra to Springsteen and, to me, the Holy Grail of the many artists from NJ, Bon Jovi. I’m still waiting for him to knock on my door and say Cindy, I’m here, come with me, lol. I jest. They were just The Four Seasons in the beginning, until Frankie got to full of himself, and then it was Frankie Valens and The Four Seasons. Again memory lane, but this time is was from when I was that little girl I hardly even remember, but I do remember them. Working My Way Back To You Girl was my favorite, especially when The Spinners re-did it in @1980!!!!
I grew up in the early 60s listening to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Hit after Hit after hit for these guys. They were from New Jersey, hence the movie name Jersey Boys. Just a great sound, and a great front man in Frankie Valli. The chicks really dug him, even though he was only about 5ft. 4 inches tall, what a voice.
I saw the Broadway show Jersey Boys two yrs ago, it was soooooo good! Whoever will be doing Frankie's part, they have to go to what they call Frankie Bootcamp. I like 'Sherry' and 'Dawn'
This song along with a few other Four Seasons songs was featured in the movie The Wanderes (1979) Good film with a great sound track. Worth checking out
In the cities in the early sixties friends would hang on street corners they’d form a group and sing on street corners. That’s how a lot of them were discovered
True story some advice my pops give me had a bad break was balling bad for her my pops told me Walk like a man, talk like a man Walk like a man my son No woman's worth crawlin' on the earth So walk like a man, my son... later found out he got that from a song lmao 😂 love my pops
I can honestly say that if you haven't seen the 1993 movie "Heart and Souls" with Robert Downey Jr. playing in it, you should watch it. This song is played two times in that movie and it is a movie that the whole family could sit down and watch. There is no bad anything in it, even a child could watch it. My daughther was just as bad or worse then anyone else about being on a cell phone. But I looked the movie up for her to watch and she never picked her phone up and she really enjoyed it. Plus, I am 64 years old and basicly what "walk like a man" really was saying is talking about being a good person and respecting others. Like my father in law always told us "It takes more of a man to walk away from a fight then it does someone that does fight someone". If you think about that, it is true.
Remember this song well. Played it on my radio in the 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 convertible I bought the Spring of 1963 for $843. Well she was 6 years old. Think that song pertained to some guys in school. You know don't slouch shoulders back and act like somebody.
Listen to Don't think twice sounds like it's the wrong speed lol. My favorite s are Can't take my eyes off of you and My eyes adored you They are sweet tender chill songs the latter favorite Frankie wrote about his daughter or at least her in mind .That is what was said in the movie Jersey Boys
I have one for ya Bon Jovi 'Never Say Goodbye' this was our classes Graduation theme and IMO Best Bon Jovi song..These are great to watch especially in times like this
One of my best friends in high school LOVED the Four Seasons, and any time she could, she played this song. I thought it was okay. But if you remember Lou Christie ( the falsetto guy that sand ""The Gypsy Cried" and "Lightning Striking Again." Tell you what, I could take or leave these guys, I liked them well enough to remember my friend very warmly.
Frankie Valli hit the high notes. He died in the same plane crash,as Rick Nelson. Would you react to Garden Party, great lyrics about a concert he played that went horribly wrong. His two sons, themselves successful musicians, confirmed the story behind the lyrics
That Frankie Valli had an awesome vocal range.. I don’t know a lot about music, but I remember reading he had a range of eight octaves.. I don’t know how impressive that is... but it has to stand for something..
My husband, not to brag, has a wide range in his voice, since he got hurt in 1969 and he had to work (exercise) his vocal cords for his range. He works to sound like he does now, if he relaxes his vocal cords he sounds just like Wolfman Jack. But he had a smooth bass/baritone and can almost do the falsetto, you can he can do it part time.
This was at the time the Beatles and other English invasion bands were dominating everything. These guys never changed and remained true to their roots.
I know it sounds corny but, my mom passed away going on 2yrs ago& I can still see her going through her boxes of #numbered& alphabetized records& a big smile on her face. The beginning of my musical appreciation & education.
@@Modern-Renaissance-Man thank you for your reply. I also remember her typing the list of each box record by record. I hope other people have someone to introduce them to music like that. I'm introducing my granddaughter to the same collection.😄💖
Really like this song. My husband always said walk like a man, sing it like a woman. People at Frankie's concerts, young and old, can sing every word of every song. I like them all but I lean toward Opus 17 as my favorite or Tell It To The Rain.
Ok I really like “ let’s hang on to what we’ve got”, I tried to do that with my ex. I also like “Sherry”, the harmonies are great and I like the beat.💕💕
"No one is worth crawling on the earh. So walk like a man, my son." Best advice on earth! I actually met them in a record store in Scottsdale AZ when I was 10 years old when this song first came out! I was way too tongue-tied to speak!
Baroness Varney how fortunate to have met the 4 Seasons back in 1963. I can’t even imagine what that was like especially since they are my all time favorite band. Is their anything you would be willing to share about that day? So so interested.
Cudahy 1960 Yes! I was 10 years old and I LOVED the Four Seasons and particularly Walk Like A Man. They were advertised to be at the Goldwater's shopping mall on a Saturday morning, signing autographs. So, my Mom dropped me off at the record store so I could see them and she went shopping. I walked into the record store (albums and 45's) and the Four Seasons were the only ones in there! I was shy about meeting them, so I walked over to the 45's rack and started looking through them. Bob Gaudio (the handsome one) came over and stood right in front of me and asked, "Who is your favorite group?" I didn't even look at him, I was so nervous and only ten years okd! I answered back , "The Four Seasons" without looking up. I got all four of their autographs, but I have never found them since! Surreal, eh?
Baroness Varney WOW!!!! What a treat and a great experience but being only 10 years old I could completely understand how you felt. I didn’t meet Frankie Valli until I was around 16 years old (in complete awe) when he was riding the charts with His hit single Grease. I take you met them in early 1963 and to bad you could not come across those autographs. They sell for quite a bit on eBay and that’s if you can even find. What an experience and thanks so much for sharing it. I’m just a HUGE fan of the 4 Seasons. Thanks again
Check out "Ain't got no home" by Clarence Frogman Henry - It's hilarious - he does the boy's voice and the girl's voice too and yeah , he also sounds like a frog at times too ! It's a rock 'n' roll song.
One of the best! Four Seasons could not make anything bad. High school. Yes, we went around doing the ooo ooo ooo LOL I hope you are doing well. Sherry By the four Seasons. Bif girls don't cry, Candy Girl, Rag Doll to name a few.
I Love Frankie Valli and went to see the Jersey Boys play three times when it was here in Phoenix it's a very good play and thought the movie it's so good
Ah the test for any singer..try and do what Frankie Valli could do in this song..needed dam tight pants to even get close mate..Music from that era is awesome..especially the 4 seasons..love their music..my favourite is "Who Loves You" followed by "Working My Way Back To You" both always make me just feel Good, and remind me of times that the days seemed endless Keep Strong Keep Safe My Dear Friend
You have to watch somebody that I used to know, the azora Telford version, it's the same song by gotye, but they do all the lyrics in sign language matching the song really well, its awesome, please check it out!
