So many great songs by the Four Seasons. Let’s Hang On, Dawn, Working My Way Back to You, to name a few. The more you listen to this group you will eventually need to react to Uptown Girl by Billy Joel which is an amazing tribute to the Four Seasons. You still have a lot of work to do with these guys first though, Jamel 😄

Frankie Valli had an incredible falsetto voice, and I am so envious. I'm an alto and could never reach those notes he did!

Ever since I saw the 1993 film “Heart and Souls” with Robert Downey, Jr., Alfre Woodard, Kyra Sedgwick, Charles Gordon & Tom Sizemore, which features this song prominently (and in a way that affects the story), I always think of it every time I hear this, even though I had loved this song for so many years before then! I highly recommend that movie. It’s very sweet and enjoyable!

Most of the songs during the 50's through the mid/late 60's were meant to be under 3 minutes long. They were formatted to radio airplay at the time. Some bands would fudge the numbers and write the wrong run time incorrectly on purpose to get a song played that they believed couldn't (or shouldn't) be edited down. But you're absolutely right: Short and to the point and memorable.

If you do another Four Seasons, highly recommend "Dawn (Go Away)". One of those songs you'll want a lyric video for.

The reason for the short songs was radio. The stations wouldn’t play long songs in the late 50s and 60s. If you wanted stations to play your records, you had a 2:30 window for your music. Even the early Beatles music had to fit in the strictures of the AM stations.

You are indeed keeping great music alive, but that isn't all my friend. You are bringing people together in a time where we need that. I doubt there is a single person watching that isn't smiling because they are experiencing something new, or because of the memories the music holds for them. You are a good man, sir.

Robert Downey Jr and a cast of ghosts sung part of this in one of my favourite movies from the 80's, "Heat and Soul". It's a fantastic movie and we showed it to our kids when they were about 7. They've loved the song ever since and taught it to their friends. Great music (and fun movies) lives on.
