Don’t feel too bad unless you literally live next to the Nurburgring. I think it’s wayyyyyyy too fast and capable to own as a street car / backroads. Slow car fast > fast car slow. But if you do fast car fast…. 🫨
@@DasCayman I think you're too slow for the car rather than it being too fast ahahah Also, it is too "drony" and the pitch is off when compared to a GT3. I'll take a 991.2 GT3, thanks :)
@@DasCayman pretty decent mate. Still, that kind of proves my point: it's clearly not too fast as you just showed you CAN wring it out :D I mean, let's be honest here and cut the rationalising crap; it's amazing and way better than any other "regular" Cayman. I wanted that to be true, because then I could sell my GT3 and have fun on a Boxster Spyder but having driven both back to back on the twisties here in Portugal, it can't even come close. Not on the same league, class, or planetary system. And don't call me biased because I'd love nothing else than to have an extra 100k on my bank account for a Lotus Exige or Atom 4 :-(
@@Kurotsukuyomi it’s just too fast to be enjoyed on the street. Because once you start using it… you’re going 150mph everywhere… it’s a victim of its own success. Now don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t change a thing about the 4RS, it’s a perfect car. But for me, and how I’m able to exploit cars, it’s too fast. Usually when people say a car is too slow are the ones who have no idea how to actually drive
Regarding Luke, I'm with you that he sounds more like a salesman and influencer lately than a car enthusiast. But thinking he mad 100k with the 4RS in the Swiss car market at that time is nonsense. I'm sure he lost 5 to 10 grand on that car maybe even more, prices were dropping fast when he sold. There are 23 4RS for sale right now in Switzerland starting at 186k and they are sitting not moving.
I will admit that my Venn diagram overlap of low interest rate environments coupled with exclusive Porsche RS cars in USA and Switzerland is weak. So I am unfamiliar with how much profits both cars would make in each country, but I could only speculate which is why I didn't call out a dollar amount in the video :) Do you know what percentage profit a Swiss car sees to a USA car assuming equal market environments?
Good clarification on the suspension for the street. I would love to have a GT4 RS. Also torque above 5000, if a person wants low end torque, buy a base C8.
Great video! I agree the car is quiet until higher RPMs. Was the first thing I was surprised about when I bought mine. The volume is way over exaggerated.
For me the 4RS is the perfect car…it‘s so raw. Compared to the 992 gt3 it is a bit slower in the corners due to the double wishbone suspension of the gt3 but it‘s way more emotional to drive (the gt3 is missing the agility that the 4RS has). Soundwise it‘s also incredible. I just own it a few months and can‘t complain at any point
I religiously watched his videos until the bit on why he sold the 4RS…. Just tell us you made $100k and moved into a car that was lower on depreciation curve and still cool. None of us would be mad about making a quick $100k…. The whole thing was blown so far out of proportion
Very good video. I have a GT4 RS and think it is one of the best cars Porsche have ever produced. If you had to do a 3000 miles road trip across Europe with good weather would you take a GT4 RS or your 987 Spyder?
Oof that’s a good question… I think I’d take the 4RS because it is just so capable at everything. You could cover ground so fast in it too. I would love to ship my Spyder to Europe though and rally around :)
981 GTS. Great sound and good value. Stay away from the turbos if you’re here to have fun and enjoy the car. A well priced 981 GTS will hold its value better than the other two as well, if that's a factor.
Too loud, too stiff not enough torque… no, no, no! I absolutely agree with your assessment. In fact the car continues to improve in all those areas as it puts on more miles. Smoother, more compliant, quieter sounding (“creamier” as per a friend’s description “) and, plenty of power from a really really wide power band! Love it ❤😎
It still blows my mind that people can critique this car... I've had no issues with it other than it is just literally too fast and capable to be driven 8/10ths on the street
A couple ownership quirks- 1. The centerlocks are as annoying as they are good looking. Unless you buy the $5000 tool, its a two person job every time you want to remove a wheel. 2. I traded in a 992 GT3 for it, and I have no regrets, but I do prefer the looks of the GT3. It had much less fizz, was much quieter, but did look better to my eyes. Thats all I can think of…
💯!👍. I could not agree more! Gave up a GT3 touring allocation for the 4RS-no regrets! Absolutely love this thing! Wake up finding myself craving the sound and chuckability of this car. Another thing I hate about the GT4RS, unlike the Aventador, is you can actually use the A/C to stay cool!😎
I can’t believe anyone would say anything negative about this car. As someone who can’t afford one, this thing is an absolute dream. And some what attainable. Thank you Porsche.
Best car they make right now by far. And still going for $30k over but down from $75-$100k. I will have a PTS example for the collection because its going down as one of the all time greats.
I knew a guy who got one of these and and sold it because he said he couldn't drive it the way it was meant to be on the street and that made it not fun.
Hey Man good luck with your channel and videos. One piece of advice. Mt Zion, Butler, and Mantua Mill = Cyclists.. Blind corners high rates of speed...Hate to see something happen.
Yes thank you. We go out before the cyclists. Have been doing this for over 20 years. We all meet at Velocino with the cyclists and live together. Cheers
Bro… no offense but I’m betting the house on black that’s the excuse he used so he could flip it and profit $100k. The fact he also said he made “no money” on the car after driving it so little… no chance. I wish he would have said he made $100k, took profits and rolled it into a 3RS. We wouldn’t even be mad. Game is game. We’d all do the same unless we felt the 4RS was pinnacle Porsche…. Then he puts an EXHAUST on his 3RS 😵
Great video. FYI, if you want to capture the best footage angle I use the RoadSpy RS1 on my Cayman. Way way better than those suction cups and helmet mounts.
Ooooooo that’s a very hard choice. If it’s a street car I’d 100% scuderia for the insane road presence, theater and rarity. Was a halo car for me growing up.
I really appreciate that feedback! Got so tired of all these journalists complaining... Maybe they were going from a GMC Yukon on Monday for a review and then the 4RS on Tuesday...lol
@@DasCayman i mean it must pay crazy :D congrats to that achievement, problem is i live in germany and thinks work quite different here. I was expecting some sort of business to afford those cars. I‘m currently trying around with some business ideas here and there to get started

Luke sold his car for other reasons, the Cayman / Boxster remains Porsches best sports car with midship engine and no crappy back seats, 911 is the flagship model that SOME people buy merely for bragging rights and not driving.
Lol what were those reason? And Cayman / Boxster is the most fun for backroads! All the 911 dentists on RU-vid just don't want to admit it...I own a 911 as well :)
well, I'm not actually too sure now, he's also previously said that it's not super usable on the streets because to use the car to its full potential you'd be going 165mph on public roads🤷♂
It’s so mind numbingly capable fun and fast for road use. This thing was the absolute T*TS on the Nurburgring. Couldn’t think of a time where I had more fun. Thanks for the feedback on the video my friend 🙏🏻
Luke sells all his cars very fast cause he doesnt know what to do with them after filming a few clips - guess you can film only so many coffee runs with the same car before it gets boring if you have no passion for it in any way. Nevertheless his whole attitude is fake af first raving that he bought his dream car (yet again) then selling it a few months later. Definitely no petrolhead to me, just an influencer.
I like Luke's cinematography but his opinions on cars have always meant very little me. I never understood why he buys Porsche GT cars just to poodle around at 30-40mph (I know Swiss speed laws are strict but still).
BRO THIS!!!! His filming and editing is 12/10. I’ll never hold a candle to him for that. But he gets these crazy RS GT Porsches and literally puts around in them… I don’t get it… Those mountain passes shouldn’t have cameras and he can always blur the speedo. Tbh he’s the reason why I made some of my POV driving videos if you haven’t seen already. Was tired of people not showing what it’s actually like to drive these cars. Search Boxster spyder dascayman pov
@@DasCayman Nice driving! In my opinion that 3.4L MA1 engine is the sweet spot for power you can actually use on a daily basis. Even at 7/10ths you're already going much faster than what most people would consider reasonable. However I'm a bit biased having owned/driven a 981S for the last +90k miles.
When you drive around 35 mph over the speed limit (out of town) the following will happen: Your car gets impounded, minimum 1 year of jail time, you loose your licence for a minimum of 2 years
I wanted to order the Spyder RS… SO BAD. I even had an opportunity for MSRP… but after driving the 4RS for over a year it is wayyyyy too fast and capable for my use. The Spyder RS would have been the same :( and I love my 987 Spyder too much as well 🙏🏻 Glad you enjoyed the video. Nothing personal against Luke. Just had to say something and speak some truths about this car.
@@DasCayman You had an MSRP allocation and passed?! I’m going to pretend I didn’t hear that. Mine is NOT MSRP. Can’t wait, even still. Nothing sounds like those intakes…
@@hbullock I try not to lay in bed and cry every night when I think about that… try!! It’s just too fast for my use. Look up “DasCayman lightweight flywheel” if you get a chance or haven’t seen yet… my manual 987 is the chefs kiss of cars for backroads. Would love to see your SRS! Shoot me a dm on instagram
@@DasCayman I see you on RL. :) I’m Adrift. My car doesn’t arrive until mid July. I’ll drop you an IM. The thing I like is those absolutely indecent downshifts can be enjoyed at almost any speed; no need to go nuts.
So you don´t really hate anything about the car itself but what people say they think is subjectively "bad" about it and you just disagree. My man can´t handle different opinions.
