Hooker and Levis may be a highly valued type of draftee in the future: a VERY good backup QB. The role of backup QB is, I believe, about to be spectacularly re-evaluated in the coming seasons, as we realize more each year how crucial a solid QB2 can be. The backup QB assumes an essential bridge role, particularly towards the end of the reg season when pains, strains and remnants of previous troubles coalesce into injuries. A really good QB2 can successfully buy a team these extra few weeks necessary for a starter to recover, without compromising the whole season.

I think if someone let's him sit a year instead of throwing them straight to the wolves, Levis has the tools to become the next Josh Allen. Kid really reminds me of Allen coming out. Same criticisms just plays for a worse team in a tough conference.

@@BigRW we'll see lol. Predicting Qb success is virtually impossible. Nobody knows how someone is going to handle the adjustment in speed. All you can go on is if they have the tools to be successful and he does. If you played against SEC defensive lines while being protected by a Kentucky offensive line, I think the speed adjustment shouldn't be as difficult as it is for most. Only time will tell. One thing I'm certain of is I'd bet on Levis being a success story far sooner than I'd bet on Young. Kid is too small and playing behind that Bama line has let him develop the dangerous tendency to hold the ball far too long. If he plays like that in the NFL he's going to have a very short career.
@donivanhummel3106

I don’t think you know what a boom or bust prospect is. Bryce Young’s fundamentals and field vision are way too good to have any real faith that he’s gonna not be at least a starter level qb. Will Levis is the boom or bust here easily. His fundamentals are trash but he has a nuclear bomb for a right arm and shows flashes of intense greatness between periods of inaccuracy and boneheaded decisions. He’s either going to be the next Zach Wilson or the next Josh Allen and there’s no in between.

I really believe that we may have 5 QB’s taking in the 1st Round and 4 in the Top 6, maybe 5 in the Top 10 if the Raiders are Dave Gettleman type desperate Stroud, Young have been obvious. A-Rich can easily be molded into a semi Josh Allen type (with some differences that have him closer to Jalen Hurts), and Levis is risky but the right staff can turn him into Herbert. Hendon Hooker’s knee injury is a concern and he probably won’t go Top 10, but he’s still good enough to stay home as a Titan to be the next man up over there. Raiders also could just say fuck it and take him at #7

People need to remember that Jared Goff and Kirk Cousins are both top 10-12 qbs. While i do think CJ is QB3 for now. If he can be as comfortable in a clean pocket as Jared Goff is, and/or if he can be more comfortable under pressure, CJ may be the best QB in this draft. Like I have Richardson a slight slight notch above as I do think his biggest problems are arm control and timing. That clean pocket to pressure indicator is the biggest red flag for me for CJ Stroud. I genuinely expect whatever bottom feeder team to draft him to fail to understand that he needs a great o-line, then skip to giving him 3 1st round TEs and a top 10 WR, fully allowing him to suffer under duress. Down the road in 2027 he might sign a cheap backup deal with a team that has a real O-line, and if he gets his shot he'll explode onto the scene, probably going off in a way like foles in his SB run with Philly.

But Houston's O-line did not perform well in any of the pass blocking statistics. Average pocket time was tied for 7th worst. Pressure rate allowed was 11th worst, Allowed the 5th most hits on their qb, even though they faced an average number of blitzs, Usually a team with the 5th lowest number of drop backs by % doesn't allow that many pressures, but, they are picking 2nd overall for good reason.

And there is a better chance that Levis and Richardson will be busts than they will be stars even though both also have a lot of talent. Hooker has the mindset to succeed and while he might not be as flashy and talented as the others he makes up for it with his decision making. @@JayJay-ku8gp I'm not as worried about Stroud because he has a quicker release and a bigger frame to take the punishment while he's adjusting to speed difference. If someone gives him time to develop and sit a year behind a veteran, I think Levis has the tools to develop into a Josh Allen level Qb

@@JayJay-ku8gp out of the 5 the only ones I see having the potential to be solid are Stroud and Levis if he's allowed to develop slowly. If he starts too soon he could lose his confidence because he's not ready yet. He really reminds me of Allen a lot. Richardson is interesting too, but would need to be developed kind of the way Hurts was. He's not a sure thing but he's definitely interesting. Qb evaluation is the hardest of all the positions because it's just a different game in terms of speed. It's hard to determine who is dedicated enough to put in the work in the film room to successfully make the jump. All you can do is go based on potential and I see quite a bit in those 3. Hooker is likely a backup. I like that Levis is going from a situation where he had to get the job done against SEC talent when he was working with UK talent. He was forced to make the quick reads and the timing difference should affect him less than any of the others. I mean if you can beat Florida with Kentucky's talent you have potential plus he looks good in drills.

Hooker over Levis IMO. Levis will bust in roughly 70% of scenarios - probably more if he goes in top 20 or so. He would need a perfect situation to succeed, and it's unlikely.

@@JayJay-ku8gp I think both of them are high risk. But they came from good football schools that have produced good QBs in the past. Young is smart. Levis had a Great junior year, before he lost all his receivers for this past year. I do not like any of these QBs in this class. I would not take any of them this high. @@bitemenow609 hmm interesting take. I think Young might be a potential bust and Stroud if he can adapt well under pressure he'll be good but that's up to him. AD has to pray he can develop as a passer in the NFL to succeed. To be honest though most QBs I've seen have come from the smaller schools than power houses of late.
