your thesis is rejected.....your theory is flawed, based upon the presence of a generational talent at Qb. There will be no Sophomore slump. The aberration of injuries, missing talent will not repeat. The roster is improved, many AFC teams have got worse. This WR corps was 2nd in drops last year, the revamped corps will not replicate that. The running game that averaged 96.8 yards a game will improve. The Texans have a top tier coaching staff, the defense will be fine. Keep your stats and analytics, I'll go off what I saw throughout the '23 season.
I'm buying the Texans hype, least for the regular season, and think they'll win the division with real competition for it only coming from 1 team. That team being the Colts. They overachieved last season, but I believe they'll build off it and not regress. If Richardson breaks out, they could be just as good as the Texans. The Jaguars feel like a fringe playoff team at best, but I think they'll underachieve and have a rough year that leads to some front office and coaching housecleaning. Trevor Lawrence deserves better. As for the Titans, I don't like what I'm seeing at all and think they're a bottom 3 team with a record that reflects that fact. They and New England are my frontrunners for having thr top pick in the next draft
Titans fan here. Texans are good af. Best team by a mile and probably win the division. Jags and Lawrence get so many damn excuses, just stop it. Even if Lawrence finally turns into a quality starter nothing about this team is scary. Colts have nice pieces but Richardson is still completely unproven. Everyone parrots his athleticism, but in his 4 games last year he had one of the worst QBRs in the league. He could turn out to be a complete bum at throwing the ball, his athleticism won’t matter then. But the Colts should be solid even if Richardson is bad because their roster is good. Titans are a total wild card no one can honestly evaluate them. Entirely new coaching staff which could flop horribly, Levis has all the talent in the world but had a pretty bad rookie year still (horrible situation though), but you have to give the front office props for dramatically improving the roster. The team’s peak this year is a couple games over .500 at best, but they could be so, so bad too if Levis sucks and the new coaches do as well.
Let’s not confuse potential with results. While AR is an amazing athlete he hasn’t yet shown that he can stay healthy for most or all of a season, or play well for a full season. Levis showed a few flashes in ‘23, but can he play at a high level for a full season? I guess we will find out in a few months. But I do agree that the AFC South could be fun to watch for a few years.
Consensus among college football fans if i recall correctly was that Stroud was better than Young. I mean Stroud pieced up UGAs defense they just lost cuz i mean UGA had a way better team. Meanwhile Young GOT pieced up by the UGA and even the Lsu defense
It was so strange to me that Young went #1. I don’t follow college football, but I am a fan of the draft process and watch a lot of breakdowns and film studies. It seemed clear to me that Stroud was much better, and then there were Young’s physical limitations as well. I just chalked it up at the time to not being an NFL scout and missing something
The Dolphins sucked for about 20 seasons, save a a season here and there. Tua is substantially better than any Miami QB since Marino retired. After years of absolute futility, there’s actually hope. I think you are off the mark on this one. I say that very respectfully since I really enjoy your content.
Love to see the AFC South finally get some love. You hear so much about the AFC East and North, it's nice to see the South apart of these discussions now for all of the reasons you mentioned.
Tbh, as a a Titans fan. I think this will be the most competitive division. I think the team that wins it, will only need 10-11 games. I just think all these teams are closer than the casual or die hard of these teams think they are. Texans should finish first, but it’s football and you really never know.
@@oomshaka6683they had a lot of holes last year and addressed nearly all of them in the off-season. If Levis is good, the Titans should be at least decent. But idk if he will be. Of course it’s an entirely new coaching staff so that could flop and the titans might be ass cause of that.
Hey, sometimes folks blow past their sophomore slump and continue to climb higher and higher. Not saying CJ’s immune to it, but here’s hoping he reaches even higher heights
Lmao the only thing these bums are banking on is a “sophomore slump”. Yeah sure it’s not like he’s a pure pocket passer that was playing with half of o-line & his wr2 out half the season with a bottom 5 run game that will all be vastly improved in year 2.
CJ is better than your team’s QB buddy. He’s up there with Mahomes as far as value to a franchise at the QB position. Maybe you’re used to “sophomore slumps”(what a stupid label, every player is an individual and different, but i digress), but ultimately CJ is in a better position out of his rookie year than any player ever. Kick rocks kid.
It's AR & Levi's sophomore year as well. But nobody brings that up...Sound like my man's just trying to cope😂😂😂.All I can say is keep your hope for cj's downfall alive...Texans fan base loves it.. TEXANSSS!!!!🤘 SWARMMM!!!!
@@wocky5724 it’s not about stroud and the offense, he’s a Mf problem, it’s about the Texans defense. To me, that’s not a defense that can keep stroud out of shootouts for example: cincy & Tampa. I hope I’m wrong but I can’t see it rn
Ik man will levis sucks, tony pollard and tyjae spears run in quick sand, Brian Callahan we don’t need to see him coach he’s terrible I may as well not watch a single titans game just forfeit every game 0-17 just like what everybody was saying about the rams going into last year and I’m sure you got butt hurt about it cuz you watch the games you know the players more than we do.
You just filled with abysmal takes. And yes everyone remembers your comment from last time. Ur Wrong. No how many times you repeat yourself. The Titans have a run game with Pollard and Spears
Tagoviloa is clearly good enough to take a team all the way, but not ANY team. In other words, he has limitations, and isn't the sort of QB who can throw a team on his back and carry them week after week like the very best qbs in the league can. But how many qbs are there who can actually do that? Maybe three or four, or five at the very most? But Matt Stafford and Joe Flacco both have Super Bowl rings, and Brock Purdy has a NFC championship ring; Tua could be a positive contributor to a championship-caliber team as much as those three were. The question the Dolphins have to ask is, "what are the chances we could get someone who is a clear upgrade over Tagoviloa at the position?" And the answer is "there's almost no chance in the foreseeable future." So with that in mind, Miami should absolutely pay Tua, but they should try to pay him like what he's worth, i.e., a tier two qb. He's not max money good, and if he forces Miami to pay him like he is he'll soon find out that its a help of a lot harder to out up big numbers when your team can't afford to pay for quality talent at the other 21 starting positions.
I think the division goes like this 1. Texans winning 12-13 games going 4-2 in the division losing to the titans and the colts. They have a mostly complete roster, great coaching, depth, and a solid QB. Worst case scenario is that stroud has a sophomore slump and there’s locker room trouble with a guy like diggs and they win 9 or 10 but I don’t see any reason to suspect this. They have the potential to contend if they play to their full potential and seriously believe that their the best team in the division as of now. 2. Titans winning 10-11 games and going 4-2 in the division losing to the Texans and colts. An often not talked about point is that the titans almost won 6 of the games they lost last year by one score. That means Tennessee with a terrible offense with the worst o line in the league and one receiver were almost able to beat the colts and Texans along with other teams. Levis’s supporting cast was atrocious last year and now it’s improved massively with a modern coaching staff, a solid if not great receiving core, one of the greatest o line coaches in nfl history with a young o line, and a running back room conducive to passing not purely running (no offense to king Henry). The defense is also arguably much better under denard Wilson as dc. He created a shutdown corner squad in Baltimore and now he has sneed and awuzie to work with on top of Mccreary forming a dangerous unit on paper on top of Tennessees still great front with Landry and Simmons and new guys like Murray and sweat that have potential. I don’t see this squad taking the division yet but they will see serious improvements as Levis comes into form and will constantly nip at the texans heels throughout the year. 3. The Colts. Winning 9-10 games going 3-3 in their division losing once to everyone. I think the colts are a sneaky squad this year but they don’t have the roster on paper needed to compete with Tennessee and Texas. Richardson has phenomenal athleticism but he had a very small sample size last year and this will practically speaking be a mini rookie year for him. I’m not saying he’ll slump but he hasn’t had the more complete experience of stroud or even Levis at this point and I think he’ll need to make some adjustments as the season goes on. My biggest problem with the colts though is their defense. Their offense is powerful but how are they stopping the Texans or titans as they go downfield? Ridley, diggs, Moore, and Hopkins could eat that secondary alive and both the Texans and titans defenses have what it takes to get crucial stops (the titans especially). I think that’s what their missing because I just don’t see the defensive talent they need to take the division. They may sneak into the playoffs but I don’t see them topping the Texans or titans short of either being chronically injured or just completely falling apart. Solid but not there yet. 4. The jaguars winning 7-8 games and going 1-5 in the division. The jags are the worst team in the afc south on paper and don’t understand the hype that surrounds them. They gained very little in the offseason compared to any of their division rivals, Lawrence has yet to show the “chosen one potential” that he was drafted on, and I don’t see the offensive or defensive firepower needed to compete in this new division. For that reason I think most of their losses come from their division and that the jags will take the offseason to retool and improve their offense for one last shot with Lawrence next year unless he completely blows up this year (I don’t think he will). I think the jags can be good and even great but not with their current squad, they need more in the modern afc south.
Titans winning 10-11 games, blud let's calm down hein, don't think Will Levis will carry this team does far, and their new HC is a mystery. And saying that the Jags are the worst team in the division is completely wrong, and saying that they improved very little blud come on
I like analysis and the talking points but I do think Texans win the division with a 11-6 record. I think the titans are a wildcard team at 10-7 or 9-8 and beating out the colts for 2nd cuz I think we sweep the colts and going 1-1 in the rest of the division. I also think Houston plateaus this year, with such a unexpected season last year took ppl by surprise that won't happen this year. So I expect Houston to be just as good as past year but the rest of the division (except the jags) taking big steps forward to cut the lead down
I live out West, so this division gets no TV time and is not the most familiar to me. I appreciate the insights on these teams. I don't know if their future is insane, but, hell, at this point I'll settle for anything not lackluster!
I like videos like this because they highlight how crazy division games are, not just in the NFL, but in pretty much any sport. The worst loss the Super Bowl champs took last year was against a division opponent who wasn't even good. The Lions went to the NFC championship game, and the Bears were terrible in every sense of the word. The Bears absolutely killed the Lions once and should have won on the road! No team in the NFL has the luxury of taking their division opponents lightly, ever!
The real hero of the Texans is Lovie Smith who forced us to take CJ Stroud over Bryce Young which got us to where we are now. Looking at it, Bryce Young is looking to be a bust. Thank you Lovie Smith and David Tepper for taking Young over Stroud. Smith deserves a superbowl ring for this.
@@BoHornis that true though? There's a reason Bryce Young was consistently rated higher than Stroud and now that Bryce has a WAY better offensive unit around him he'll be able to atleast have a chance
@@BoHorn So? If you want I'll link a video proving they're the Same Guy just as we thought in the preseason. It's one that analyzes what both QBs do before play-calling or lack of on-field talent ends plays. They do the Exact Same Things pre & post-snap. About the only _real_ difference is that Young's long ball looks weak. How or why does Every NFL Fan Forget that play-calling matter Every Other Second but for far longer than they can remember it? It can't be both. Purdy can't only be great within Shanahan's system & all the play-callers for all the bad QBs all be non-factors. These things are Mutually Exclusive. Either play-calling matters or it doesn't. The Bears had a 5-game streak of improved offense in '23. It used the same plays that made them the #1 offense for 3 weeks in '22. Before anyone dismisses this, how many multi-game good offensive streaks did Zach Wilson have over those 2 years? Exactly. The 2ns streak coincided with them acquiring a new DC & Montez Sweat. The HC who boasts about meddling in the offense was therefore too busy to do so. So we have 8 of 30 games where we know he was meddling less because the 3 in '22 used the same plays as those 5 games in '23 & all other 22 games he meddled in were all different plays. So we have a 100% correlation between play-calling & offensive production. People keep dismissing Fields despite a Clear Indication That the play-calling is affecting not only him but the entire offense. Same with Young. Cripes, there's No Need to pigeon-hole anyone, ever. How would you like to walk into work one day knowing everyone now pigeon-holes _you_ based on a throwaway phrase someone spewed? You'd want to murder them. Can anyone grow past junior high?
@@maskedman5657 he isn’t a bad QB, I was mostly going for the joke though. That being said, he definitely does need to step up if the jags want to be successful. The turnovers were a big problem last year, and he cracks under pressure almost immediately and slings it. Considering the improvements the rest of the division made this off season, and the addition of more weapons they made, there isn’t really an excuse at this point. He’s got a ton of help
@@blakeharris58mahomes won mvp in his sophomore season. Lamar Jackson won mvp his sophomore season. Joe burrow went to the Super Bowl his sophomore season. Sophomore slump isn’t really a thing anymore. Just because a player is going into his second year doesn’t mean that he will magically struggle
@@JM-md4riLamar and Mahomes both won in their first seasons starting, and Joe did in his first season healthy. None of those are really applicable examples. How exactly was Mahomes supposed to regress from rookie form where he literally didn’t play
The AFC South was always over looked cuz they never did anything special to standout. They were a joke... much like their NFC South counterpart. BUT they did improve so I'll admit to that. I'm pretty high on Texans after the year they had last year and if AR stays healthy, Colts can be trouble too. I'm not sold on Titans just yet, I need to see more for them and Jaguars, I'm on the fence with. I think they are a good team but they've been a rollercoaster ride, maority of it isn't their fault I realize but it's hard to put a pin on with them. I think this season will tell if Jags can be for real or they just here for the ride
The upcoming season will be really interesting with every teams, we gonna see if AR is the guy and can stay healthy, we gonna see if Lawrence can finally step up, for Lewis if he can be the starting QB and for Stroud if he can confirm
@@Kyle-bi7df Do you realize the Jags were 1st last year, until they completely fumbled their season? You can say AR was injured if you want, but so far we have no proof he is the guy
The obvious choice would be the Texans, but considering how hard they schedule is compared to last year, it's gonna be really hard to reach 10 wins, It's gonna be real close, but I'm going with the Jags
Viking will win the north.. they would won last year had there QB not be knock out of action for the season. Lol they dammerd made it with. 3 practice squad QB’s .
