I just started stacking, I first started buying bars because I want to be one of the 1% of Americans that stacks over 500oz. of silver. Once I reach that goal then ill start buying coins. I plan to cash out if silver ever reaches $100 an OZ. If it don't happens in my lifetime I plan to leave it for my Grandchildren. Thank you so much Yankee for your helpful advice
"If you don´t hold it, you don´t own it". A very true mantra, yankee ! In addition it may also be interesting for U.S. stackers to purchase 1 kg Australian Kookaburras, because they´re not that easy to counterfeit as common silver bars.
When i started stacking last year, I just dove in, and bought four 1oz gold RCM gold bars with the new assay. After that i decided to move to gold coins instead of bars.
I like it, Alex. There is room for some bars, and some LOOOOOOOVE em, but for me it’s all about the coinage. There’s a modern human mindset that something ROUND is likely to be considered money. Thanks for watching! 👌🏼
With regards to the Brittanias, I don't know how many people are aware of the purity. Britannias minted before 2013 were .958 silver. All of the ones minted from 2013 onwards are .999 silver. Maybe something to be cautious of when buying the older coins. 😃 Loving the channel Yankee, and looking forward to seeing more of Tim!! Keep up the good work! 👍👍
I stack a little bit of almost everything these days, but when I started out, my first was Krugerrands, mainly because they're traded and recognized anywhere. Several years later and the more I got into it, I developed a huge interest of constitutional gold and silver from the 1800s and early 1900s. To me that is/was real money, real money that people traded for goods and services. When I buy and see these earlier coins makes me wonder who must have had them, what did they buy, and how much did things cost back then.
American gold/silver eagle and the Canadian gold/silver maple leaf are very popular here in scandinavia/ Denmark. Every one knows what it is , and they look damn good
Great advice for beginning stackers. Some great options for them and they can avoid mistakes like ETFs! Ok 👌 the mining stocks? Hint, hint, glad you are doing well with them. I have been considering doing it as well. Thanks for helping the newbies. We all were at some point in time.
Yankee, how do think stackers will react when silver rises north of $40-$50/ozt? I would like to see a poll or video on this. Will stackers continue to buy? Hold? Or offload? Would it be wise to offload to gain a profit when our dollar could be at its weakest? Does it go against wealth preservation? Why do stackers seem to hope for this magical $100/oz prices? I think it might be a good topic for discussion. Or not.
Diana, I just did a RU-vid poll for my members only and asked for their input on upcoming videos. They suggested a similar one to your great comment! Do we REALLY want a silver MOONSHOT? What would it mean, and what would we do! Stay tuned... 👌🏼👌🏼
Hold. I learned stacking from my dad. He's been doing this for decades. He says silver will go over $100 due to over issuing EFTs and hyper inflation now. Plus we have the demand of actual silver in hand.
Good stuff dude! This vid was a while back - but always solid info from you! It’s an honor to follow a fellow New England’er on here! (I’m from MA, hence my username lol) Anyhow, I know this question I’m about to ask you is gonna sound stupid - mostly bc in this particular vid you legit just spoke about selling and NOT selling pieces from the stack n whatnot lmao, buttttt I happen to notice that nice shiny Yankee round sittin pretty in your stack - Do you have any for sale at all by any chance?! Because I’d love to grab even just 1 if I could, I reallyyy think that’s super cool! Lmk! Anyway, love the channel, keep it up! TY!
I have collector silver coins ( all of them worth more now than when purchased - more by luck than judgement), silver coins for my stack ( mainly eagles, maples and britannias), some silver bars and gold coins. I think like a lot of people I am just waiting to see how everything plays out....and will decide what I do next.
Hey Yankee I just wanted to say that this is still my favorite video that you have made that I’ve seen. Would you still answer these questions the same way and give the same advice now because of how different everything is now than it was a couple years ago? I hope that you and your family have a great weekend Yankee. And Thanks for helping us when it comes to buying gold and silver because I would have been lost and wouldn’t of had any idea of what to buy and how to stack. Thanks again Yankee from all of us and keep these great videos coming. 👍
Nice swimming pool. And, those diving boards are fantastic - like a league of nations! Dive on in, the junk is fine! Great primer for noobs and a nice refresher for the vets.
@@YankeeStacking If you ever see me at an airport, don't yell out "HI JACK!" or we'll both be spending quality time with the TSA! I'm way too old to survive a full body cavity search! Thanks - I live among the Cactus now - not the sharks of Salem Habah and York Beach, so I'm Cactus Jack, not Keel Haul Jack or whatever.
Fantastic video Yankee. I wish more people had the foresight and savvy that the stacking community has. The information you give e out is like dropping gems on the world. Keep up the good work.
When I started in 1985 - 1986 So gold has always had a nice rise every year, silver is a roller coaster. Coin collectors like me have had greater gains than those who only stack.
I agree, Lev Coin collectors can do very well with numismatic or seminumismatic coins. However, if everything goes to hell in a handbasket I don’t think people will care much about someone’s collection. That’s just my opinion! Though this hobby sure is fun isn’t it! Good to hear from you my friend. 😊👌🏼
Shared this also with friend who calls you "the hand guy" lol 😆 ! They made their first purchase of a tube of silver maples and a 1/10 oz AGE during a dip in price. FYI my OCD praises your layout of your stack. IMPRESSIVE!
Herb Ash Thanks for sharing it, Herb. Really appreciate that! And I hope this is the beginning of something special for your friend. Oh, and as I built this arrangement I thought of all my OCD friends out there and made sure it was perfectly symmetrical! 😂👌🏼
If I could go back in time, I’d start and stick with 10oz bars, ASE’s & 90% silver. For me, I’m at about 75/1 in the GSR. Great vid for the new stackers Yankee 👌🏼
for new stackers this good info, the problem for me is a reputable coin shop. Is there, lets say " a union of dealers that keep a high value (pun intended) reputation?
Wow thank you for breaking down all the info! Very good information. Can you make a full stack video? Would love to see the collection and stack! “One coin at a time” - Boston Stack’ah
Love the quote and love that you are possibly in/near Boston‼️ i’ve done a couple full SAG videos in the past and will probably do one again in the future. However, my stack is rather “dense“ (I like gold as well as silver) so it’s not going to be a massive display. 😬👌🏼
I keep it simple. ASE and const for coins, morgans and peace for fun., 10s, kilos and 100s for weight. No generic. Nothing less than 1oz AGE and buffs and maples. And accumulated 8 2oz JM gold bars. Stack what has the tightest spread. Stack whats fun to you. Thats the key.
I value “Fun” a tad bit less (though growing my stack is tremendously fun), but then again I’m a PREPPER STACKER! 🤪 But you have a GREAT stack going there and I love that you have a strategy. 👌🏼👌🏼
Question 6, will I be stacking, or collecting. When I started out, I was stacking, but the beauty and variety tempted me and I ended up collecting all sorts of silver coins and quite a few individual rounds. I've come back to just stacking tubes of silver bullion but I do allow myself some variety in gold fractionals like sovereigns and proof quarter oz's. Great video Yankee.
Thanks Ian! Yeah I did call the video “Stacking“ and avoided that question but it is a very good one! Thanks for sharing how your journey has evolved. 👌🏼👌🏼
Yankee Stacking I stopped and wound up jumping forward. Went back and watched the whole thing again, that's why I added the never mind. Question answered Mia Culpa.
Frank Kemps Good point! I think Canada’s Queenie is an EXCELLENT choice you Europe! Lower premiums, good resale, lots of cool varieties and privies. Thanks! 👌🏼
Also for new and curious, as I explained to a couple this last week on physical purchases: A)There is the spot price of "silver" in gross 5k+ oz ingots and then there is the Mint premium for taking the wholesale bars and B) making the smaller oz products (larger oz products carrying smaller premiums down to the smallest, most specialized carrying the highest premiums for artwork, etc). Then, there is the "dealer" premium C) The cost of acquiring the in store stock and special demands from customers to acquire their desired products from sourcing dealers, etc. So: Spot + Minted artisan piece + Dealer profit/acquisition cost = Your retail price. (Gold is similar, but the wholesale bars are likely smaller).
Very informative video. Would love to share this with friends and family. I was going to make videos like this but I think id rather just send a link lol.
It sucks, I don't have any coin shops anywhere near me. I try to go to the USA twice a year or so and go to some coin shops. Now that the border is closed, I am itching to go! Hopefully it opens soon
I invested in a few ETFs and mining stocks earlier this year and have yielded an average of 60% in just a couple months equating to several thousands of dollars. No premiums, no capital gains tax on my Roth IRA. Further, I have a decent physical portfolio.
@@YankeeStacking Thanks Yankee! I'm lucky I started stacking last year instead of this year. For obvious reasons, don't want to disclose everything, but I did purchase well over 100 oz of silver last year and some gold. Two tubes of 2020 ASEs earlier this year.
I'd say go with the lowest premium on the government issued silver. Right now the premiums on ASE'S and CM'S are a bit high right now. Dealers are now doing block chain ownership. It's nice to own, but theft potential is a concern.
I don’t like handing my PMs over to ANYONE! And yeah, I’ve paused my silver purchases in deference to gold until the Fall (when I predicted premiums to drop on silver). TFW! 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Hi Yanki, bold and all main stacking points cleared video! However, now is the gold momentum, I think all among us will straight agree ..any dollar that you can invest in gold today will be skyrocket value like never before, I can see a bull rally on gold spot powerfull and maintaining push for the next 6 to 12 months reaching 2500 an oz with no major problems...I love silver...I stack on a budget and I want to feel the silver weight for my hard earned euros (spanish stacker) however there is a small devil telling me to allocate every single euro in gold now! Interesting to see wife laughing at me when got delivered a 5g gold bar Heraeus yesterday that looks ridiculous and telling hey ...271 euros this small piece?you call yourself a microstacker?👍👍
Love the international perspective Stk! Thanks for the comment. But "however"?? Did you not see these videos: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Q4JRTIToPbA.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4rbVwVNrJYc.html
@@YankeeStacking yes great videos indeed , I dont miss any from you I really appreciatte your focus and clarity , I enjoy every single one Yankee! Keep stacking and thanks for your reply.
Yankee do you think bartering some junk silver for some 1 oz American platinum eagles is a wise move.. platinum is pretty low right now?? Thx for the insight?
It obviously depends on the bartering deal, but as a rule platinum is not my thing. (Although I did flip a Palladium Proof back in 2019). 1) I’m a prepper stacker and don’t want a metal that could be confused with silver, 2) I don’t “invest” with precious metals, and 3) I am STACKING junk as one of my three stacking priorities. My take, anyway. Thanks for watching and commenting! 👌🏼👌🏼
Todd - silver is also low now so don’t just jump in. Make sure it’s truly a good deal. P.S. there are other platinum coins besides Eagles, with much lower premiums. Like Queen’s Beasts, Maples, etc. are you wanting Eagles specifically or just to stack platinum weight?
Ok I loved this video for so many reasons . But I only have one problem with it. Yankee leave a little meat on the bone for us little folks down at the bottom. 😂 So thorough and right on point . This might be the last stacking video anyone will ever have to watch Mic dropped 🎤 Yankee done . “Savage grab my coat the boss is leaving “! Lol 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Oh come on! 😂😂😂 I had to rip through that video and only scratched the surface on many points or it would’ve been over an hour long! There’s more that could be mined I’m sure. And you’re probably just a guy to do it! 😉👌🏼
I’m just pulling on your leg . I really really enjoy your videos I learn so much . Right when I started I seen yours and dragons videos and I was like wow! What an amazing world this is . So thank you All in good fun ! I get bored sometimes and well I need to be savage lol 😂
Thank you! Very helpful. You BRIEFLY touched on constitutional GOLD. I hope you can talk more about it in another video since I haven’t heard anyone explain it. I click on it on all the bullion sites but get discouraged because it’s not clear how much gold is in them. The amount it gives is a bunch of numbers behind a decimal point. Are they 90% gold like the junk silver? Haven’t bought any yet since I can’t find info on it.... but I’ve learned a lot from you and others on silver since I’ve been stacking for the past few months. Thx
Thanks for all the info. The only rule I really broke just getting in was I bought a Britannia instead of an Eagle simply for the price. It's all gold, right?? lol I also wonder about keeping metals in your home. I have a bank with armed guard but I am wondering if that is a good idea considering the state of our economy. Any opinion? I am enjoying stacking immensely. Got in just before silver/gold went up up up. I am NOT going into any ETFs either. Prepping.
Very informative. What's your take on Platinum as a speculative metal? It seems like Platinum has a prestigious reputation (i.e. music sales numbers, Rolex and Patek watches), but it's almost half the price of gold.
Induction Records, I get asked that a LOT lately. And I always answer it the same way-not for me. I don’t “invest” with PMs. It’s just (beautiful) insurance to this Prepper Stacker. Although I did flip a palladium proof eagle in 2018 I tend to stay clear of any metal that could be confused with silver by the masses during an SHTF situation. I frankly do a lot better investing with other financial instruments then with PMs. But then again, I know of people who swear by platinum. For me, it Gold and Silver to PRESERVE my existing wealth, not to BUILD it. Hope that helps! 😄👌🏼
I consider how much money I spent or wasted over the years from impulse buying, purchasing of depreciating assets, and spending on stupid shit that paying premiums on PM's doesn't bother me in the least.
I hear ya, jefesalsero. Most people waste a great deal of $$$ on things that will not protect their wealth. Nothing wrong with some premium. I just try to keep it to a minimum. I call them my silver “ice cream cones”. Just like real ice cream is not a part of my steady diet (or I’d be 315 pounds), my silver “ice cream cones“ are also a treat and not my study “diet“ of Stacking. 😉👌🏼
Only stack what you can afford to hold, no point buying gold only to have to re sell it the following month because you can't afford car repairs or other unforeseen expense (see loads of stackers making this mistake). I can see fractional gold, Sovereigns 1/4 oz etc starting to have higher returns on the secondary markets as 1oz coins become price prohibitive for the average stacker. $1762 per oz today, 8-12 months from now I feel this will look cheap as it will need to be revalued due to the worldwide quantitative easing. Predicting gold to be $2,300 before the end of the year. Please anyone reading this at the end of the year please reply to see if I'm right or wrong. Cheers.
I picked up a 1 ounce AGE for $1700 on an introductory offer with an ASE for free! One time offer from Nationwide Gold and Bullion...need an advertisement code to get it though...
I like to get mercury dimes from my lcs, same price as fdr ones there. I know they have more wear thus less silver, but still hold same value for other stackers. Plus really like them because of instant recognizability without having to look at dates or edges, seems beneficial especially if silver ever skyrockets and regular public starts caring about 90%. I'll always take Franklins over Kennedy halfs too for same reason, as long as I'm paying same amount why not get the more unique ones whose obverse design never carried over to the move to clad
Wear is more important to me than the (beauty) of a Merc, but you are right in that they are ALL silver! I’ve weigh hundreds and hundreds of junk and the silver loss is significant sometimes. But if the weight is the same, I’d go Benji’s and Mercs too! Thanks for watching! 😃👌🏼
I have mentioned it quite a bit on prior videos, including SHOWING my portfolio! I’ll give everyone an update soon...maybe on my next “Ask Yankee” on Thursday. 👌🏼👌🏼
Great video. One thing I disagree with you is this. Silver is the most precious of precious metals. Why? all the Gold in the world can disappear and other that people being pissed off for not having their jewelry and a few industrial applications our life as we know it will not change. But if silver goes away it is not far fetched to say we are back in the dark ages. All current electronic products use silver, and that is just the start. Life without silver would be hard. And to add to this, in today's world there is at least 3 times more gold above ground in investable form than silver. The ratio of 15 ounces of silver to 1 ounce of gold in the ground is long gone as most of the easy silver deposits have been found and destroyed by industrial use. Right now in mining, you get 8 silver ounces to 1 ounce of gold. Therefore if we say industrial use takes 60% of the silver, and only 10%-20% gets recycled, you can argue the ratio is more like 4-1. It is crazy to think silver currently has a ratio of 75-1. And it is crazy to think silver is still 40% below its all-time high achieved back in 1980 when fiat currency and debt around the world has exploded 100 plus fold since then. No, my friend silver is the metal to have and if anyone needs another reason central banks don't own silver, they own gold which they will use to bring another BS fiat currency supposedly backed by gold. They have done it since paper money was born. how did that work out?
Nice Canadian half dollar ring eh! I'm 15, I plan on making money (By early June; still saving for some equipment) by selling coin rings on eBay and locally as a job. That way I choose my hours, don't need to spend money on gas or travelling, and also feel more motivated to work at something I'll enjoy! It'd also allow me to work an hour or two after school in my spare time and I'm not relying on anyone other than myself and the buyer. I am going to go to university to hopefully become an anesthesiologist; to save for that, I'm thinking to put a significant portion of my money into gold because as you said it's a savings account and a hedge against inflation. I also don't like the idea of only holding currency and not any money; even worse if the bank has it. Do you think it'd be smart for me to put a large portion of my savings into gold or just put it in a high-interest savings account?
J Edwards, GOOD FOR YOU! 15 and you have great ambition. Yeah, the coin ring was from JT Coin Rings and I’ll be posting close ups on IG soon. And as to your question, I would have to know a bit more about your financial situation and what goals you have. PMs are great for PRESERVING wealth, but I’d definitely want you to explore options on how to BUILD your wealth over time. 👌🏼
@@YankeeStacking ermmm. I wouldn't want to stack Singapore coins 😅 which is recommended for stacking? I am currently stacking maple leaf, silver eagle and United Kingdom Britannia. (Britannia seems to be the cheaper option in Singapore.)
